for lib

QueenCornflower · 21/05/2018 20:25

for me

QueenCornflower · 21/05/2018 20:36

just what is the point....

FedupNagging · 21/05/2018 20:47

Looks like the stylist had their eyes closed or were pissed when choosing that last outfit Queen linked!

Viva sorry to hear you're having a tough time atm. How is your dm? And yes, go for chinos

Blair there are some fab baby bags around now and some lovely links on here. I just used tote bags with the proviso that handles went over the buggy/pram handles. The bags all got trashed big time so personally I wouldn't spend ££.

These Dune sliders arrived last week and have not been off my feet since - love them. Thanks Everyone

FedupNagging · 21/05/2018 20:59

Gah, pressed post too soon

Lib lots of advice for your new home refurb on here - it all sounds so exciting. Did you have a word with the PE teacher in the end?

I spent several hours today in JL trying on lots of different dresses and tops - feel I need to move away from loose fitting clothes and plain colours. The upshot is I'm not entirely convinced fitted florals are quite me! However, I think I will buy a couple of dresses/tops outside my comfort zone from ebay to see how I get on. Am currently watching a couple of dresses from LKB & Hobbs.

Meanwhile I picked up this Hush dress and
Bronze metallic knit from MV

The bronze jumper is a different colour to one I would normally choose and both items I didn't size up so we'll see how I get on!

DryWhiteagainW · 21/05/2018 22:17

Has the Handmaids Tale started? What channel? When? How did I miss that Shock

Everyonelovessparkles · 22/05/2018 09:14

Glad you like the dune slides fedup, I wear mine all time time too. I think it’s the little heel that makes them comfy to wear. Why do you feel that you need to move away from plain colours and loose fitting clothes? Do you think that if you do buy items that are different that you will wear them or will they end up being passed over for more ‘familair’ styles?

Sorry to hear about your personal troubles viva. Flowers

queenc that cropped jumper is one of the most bizarre items I’ve seen in a long time Hmm?

Does any one have amy good holiday book recommendations? I had a look in WH Smith but nothing really grabbed my interest. I usually like one ‘proper’ book and one easy read.

maradesbois · 22/05/2018 09:28

Everyone have heard good things about Whistle in the Dark by Emma Healey but haven’t read it. For an easy but well-written read, Liane Moriarty is fab. Have read a few but my favourite is What Alice Forgot.

Back later but just wanted to say Viva good to hear from you and sorry you’re going through a crappy time. Stick around on here for support. Flowers

Thanks mara. I’ve read ‘big little lies’ so will have a look for ‘what Alice forgot’ and ‘whistle in the dark’.

MarshaBradyo · 22/05/2018 10:49

I love Liane Moriarty and read pretty much all of them in the last weeks of pg
Very funny and true in places

MarshaBradyo · 22/05/2018 10:50

Dry ch4 Sunday night but you should be able to watch on 4od

shopafrolic · 22/05/2018 11:37

Can someone buy [[https://www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/dresses/maxi-dresses/product.palm-embroidered-scallop-dress-white.0619901001.html this cotton dress please?]] I love the Palm detailing.

shopafrolic · 22/05/2018 11:37

Gah - ugly link but I think it works!

shopafrolic · 22/05/2018 11:45

Useful body shape article from Kettlewell

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 22/05/2018 14:24

Thank you all so much for baby bag thoughts! QueenC I was looking at the Mulberry Amberley, I really like it. Need to see one in real life. Dry I had also been looking at the bag you linked in PM, thank you! Will go back and reread all the posts again Flowers

I am a bit confused by the "bag clip vs slinging long strap across pram handles" thing... if you get a clip, can you put any bag on the pram handle? Is it easier to access bags if they are slung across handle rather than clipped?

I also like the look of some of the backpacks you can get but I guess you have to wear those, plus they're well over £100 for fake leather, wipeable though I suppose.

Lib the wedding dress shopping was fun thanks, a lovely girly day!

Marsha 29.5 weeks now. I'm not sleeping that well (not helped by the heat) and had my first night time heartburn episode a few days ago :( luckily Gaviscon is ok to take and works quickly for me. Never heard of Petit Pan, such pretty stuff! I think the changing bags are a bit too bright for me though.

shopafrolic · 22/05/2018 15:44

Blair My changing bag had a long shoulder strap which I slung over the buggy - this was easiest for me and I found it easier to open the bag without removing it from the buggy if I needed to.
I also had one of these buggy clips which I used to hang shopping bags to the buggy.
A word of warning. When miniShop was about 6 weeks old we went to Milton Keynes shopping, hung the bags from the buggy and put the brake on. As we sat down and the whole buggy upturned and poor miniShop slid right down! No harm done but scary for a first time mum.

FedupNagging · 22/05/2018 17:47

Everyone someone said to me recently that I wasn't as big as they thought I was Hmm - (I was wearing skinnies and a fitted jumper) which got me thinking.

Really good books I've read recently and would definitely recommend:
The Hearts Invisible Furies - John Boyne
The Dovekeepers - Alice Hoffman
The Power - Naomi Alderman (not for the faint hearted!)

I have also just reread The Handmaids Tale (always enjoy a Margaret Atwood novel)and guessing from everyone's comments that the series is worth a watch?

Anyway, back to fashion - like the white dress Shop but too frilly for me and am definitely an apple shape.

Did anyone like my purchases from yesterday or have I missed the mark?

Just off to an exercise class to try and address said apple shape!

DryWhiteagainW · 22/05/2018 21:58

Sorry Fedup I missed those. Both very useful pieces I think.

shopafrolic · 22/05/2018 22:39

Not sure about the Hush dress Fedup but I like the metallic knit. Cool colour.

Dreamqueen · 23/05/2018 06:54

I love the black Hush dress Fedup. I have a similar one that's blue and white stripes and it's been really useful.
I managed to lock myself out of here on my phone and it's taken me ages to get back in.

I never got around to buying the clothes steamer that Blingy recommended but bought one in Lidl yesterday. It was £12 and works great.

Hello,

Fedup even if meant well that’s a stupid thing to say, the person could just have complimented you on your outfit and left it at that. I really like the hush dress and loose clothes in general but think you do need to be careful things don’t swamp you. I try to think flowing rather than huge.

Dream I like the look of the clothes steamer. Would you just use it for travelling?

Blair for changing bag I had carabiner bag clip which was useful when out shopping but prefered a changing bag with strap that could go all the way over the pram handle. Seemed more stable somehow and didn’t swing about. Unless its a bag you love I would keep the big budget for your own handbag though, changing bags generally take a battering. Do you have your pram yet btw?

So I had second interview. Seemed to go well enough but have to wait until next week for an answer. Seems that they have at least 2 other candidates still in the running. Question: would you follow up with a thank you email to the interviewer? The job sites say it is essential but just seems a bit like overkill to me ie they are busy and have given me a timeframe so don’t pester them. What does MNV think?

Blair I like this one, Cath Kidston but not twee

le pliage with long strap. Chic but pricey.

That’s a hard one Mara I wouldn’t but then guess I usually have a rec cons doing all the contact

So it could be different if it’s direct. I still probably wouldn’t but then I’d worry if the other two do. So I’m really not sure will see what others say
