Hope you feel better soon....so many bugs about at the moment 😔

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/03/2018 10:53

My Dp never used to really wear scent until i started buying it for him and now he wears something pretty much every day. He trusts me to pick good ones for him and has never said he's disliked anything i've chosen yet Smile

Aubergine hope you feel better soon Thanks

auberginesrus · 22/03/2018 11:05

Great minds Mrs R 😂

teta · 22/03/2018 11:12

Sotd is Pure Distance White. I’m now saving up for Antonia as I’ve had absolutely no luck in ordering a decant. There is a lovely American seller on eBay but the sample disappeared enroute . He’s refunded me and it’s really not an issue but I was really looking forward to the Antonia. Sadly no decants are available on the Crystal Flacon.

Regarding Zoologist perfumes Chris Bartlett ( pell wall perfumes) is the nose for Beaver and Elephant. I tried his perfumes a while ago and really didn’t get on with them. Which was a real shame as the business is fairly local to me. I was also initially put off trying any of the initial Zoologist perfumes. Also Zoologist is run by an Chinese guy and they traditionally enjoy very light scents or no perfumes at all ( I lived in Asia for many years). So all in all I was so prejudiced against the perfumes.
Now I really want to sample the whole range as there’s such a buzz at the moment.

Get well soon aubergines - I've had this blasted cold since Friday now and am only really feeling halfway 'normal' today. Still coughing though Hmm

teta there's an ebay seller who has both White and Antonia on at the moment - full bottles though! Soooo expensive. I think it's the same person who has slightly-used FBs of Tauer's Loretta/Ingrid etc, which i would kill to try.

My 44160 package arrived just now with Dirty Honey, Paradox, Eau My Soul and a freebie of Ealing Green.

Dirty Honey opens almost exactly like Lush's Sun, with a real orangey citrus blast, and then quickly becomes...yeah, dirty. It's not that pleasant tbh. However, half an hour in it's settled down and is actually rather lovely - sweet, honeyed skin scent with a little fizzy undertone ?from the labdanum. It's like the bedtime version of EMS, once you get past that weird earth note about ten mins in.

Paradox starts off with that very sharp alcohol/citrus top which I find in a lot of 4160 and I don't like. But! thankfully I'm now getting lovely iris and a slightly peppery violet, phew!

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 22/03/2018 11:34

I'm finding his and hers matching Obsession wearing really funny for some reason Grin Sadly my DH refuses to wear aftershave (I know, grounds for divorce on here, right?) but I do enjoy buying him vintage/niche deodorant and shaving soap/brushes/bowlsSmile

MrsG I think you have nailed it re appreciating artistic merit/pleasure funnily enough DH and I had that very conversation about tattoos art this week. (For example, DH likes black and grey tattoos, I wouldn't have them on my own skin but I can look at his and appreciate that his are actually beautiful/good quality art from a talented artist. Sorry to those who dislike tattoos!) Perfume is the same isn't it, you can appreciate something very well crafted without wanting to wear it yourself.

MG Cherry funnily enough, falls into this category for me. They say sparkly, I say fizzy Grin Have ordered more Plum though as I adore it and it's a sin not to, at those prices.

Fancy I loved Body Shop vanilla, vintage bottles go for big bucks on eBay! I remember wearing vanilla essence dabbed on my skin too Hmm

Aubergine and Fennel and every one else poorly (or stressed) hope you feel better, there is something rotten doing the rounds in our house too Angry I'm currently tucked up in bed, sadly my hair has started coming out again which is really not a good look with my Alexis Colby (was she a Colby Carrington, I can't remember?) negligees! I have found a suitable headscarf for this thread through...

Obviously that is not me in the photo, that's a model Grin

UnnecessaryFennel · 22/03/2018 11:43

I believe she was a Colby Carrington Dexter, in fact, floof Grin Love the headscarf!

LibertyBlue · 22/03/2018 11:45

I’m testing two Irises today

Iris Rebelle by Atelier Cologne on one arm

Iris Goddess by floral Street on the other arm.

Will report back later

positivepineapple · 22/03/2018 12:21

Lots of parcels arrived today.

First try of the mysterious "Arrogant Cat"

You win some, you lose some. 😂

I smell like a Chai latte, and not in a good way. If anyone would like to try this, even just to say you now know how an arrogant cat smells - please let me know. No idea how I will get rid of 100ml of this.

^Arrogant Cat - Dusk

Top notes
Orange & Milk

Middle notes
Lily & Plum

Base notes
Virginia cedar & vanilla^

SOTD is one of the CK Eternity Summer flankers, i think it's the one from 2009/2010. I vaguely remember buying it around that time. Not really anything outstandingly special but its light and pretty and won't make me feel choked up or closed in at the dentist this afternoon

AlexisColbysFANCYfrock · 22/03/2018 13:02

I'm in my safety blanket Burberry for Women today, as off to a funeral and am doing a reading. Feeling a bit nervous, queasy and the glands have really come up on my throat/neck. Definitely an early night for me tonight!

Best wishes to all who are sick, tired or stressed out Flowers.

MrsGruber · 22/03/2018 13:10

Excellent headscarf Floof, to be worn with last year's LFPT-endorsed lounge pants?

VioletWillow · 22/03/2018 14:15

Positivepineapple I really want to try Arrogant Cat! What a bizarre name! It sounds fascinating. I am in Germany though, would it be extra on postage? I can send over a bit on PP?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/03/2018 15:03

managed to pick up 2 50ml Yardley Jade for £5 each! they also have some Royal Diamond which I might go back for tomorrow. very pleased! I don't know if they are being discontinued or repackaged but might be worth checking in local boots if anyone's a fan

Frankiewears · 22/03/2018 15:14

I thought I would give Elizabeth Arden 5th Ave a try after reading all the positive reviews from those with a ‘nose’.

Yeurgh. Smells like Pleasures at first and then the dry down is fly killer. It’s very, very sharp with no powdery notes I can detect

I want a powdery floral with warmth-any suggestions?

Frankiewears · 22/03/2018 15:27

I have worked out I dislike the combination of lily of the valley and lilac. It is in both Pleasures and 5th Ave along side another one I loathe- Beautiful by EL.

Good to know.

I have gone of the Chypres/Gourmond ones I used to favour and want something a bit like Baiser Vole but with some longevity and possibly a bit more powdery. Any recommendations appreciated 🙂

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 15:43

Elizabeth Taylor diamonds and rubies
Trust me 😁
£10 for 100mls on Amazon!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/03/2018 15:46

I 2nd the ET Diamonds and Rubies suggestion, it's absolutely lovely

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 15:51

Does anyone know what the PP dupe of shalimar and mitsouko are like?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/03/2018 16:07

Me! Well, the Mitsouko. It's not nice. But then I don't know what real Mitsouko smells like! PP Mitsouko is sweet and a bit peachy fizzy. It is borderline minger I'm afraid. I am keen to try the real thing as cannot believe such a Guerlain classic really smells like this.

I have been in PP Opium and real Shalimar all week. Popping in to catch up and eat 2 massive hot cross buns while I do so.

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 16:12

Drat it.
I trust your nose piam
I obv need the real thing :(

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 16:13

Sigh...and now I want a hot cross bun! 😁

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/03/2018 16:13

Re Scents for men. The male colleague who smells so divine I had to ask him, wears Cartier Declaration. It is gorgeous. But my favourite men perfume is Heritage by Guerlain. (the one I smelled in the gay vicar's bedroom you will recall) Divine. Also still adore Minotaur by Paloma Picasso and have a soft spot for Kouros and Antaeus, even though reviewers say they're rubbish.
