You probably know the drill by now - come and join us and to talk about perfume. We're friendly and smell lovely.

I bought my groceries in a different town today, which is noted for having a decent high street butcher and ironmonger, so did not feel guilty for detouring around the peripherique to Poundland, where there were several/quite a few of the Girl 10 mls. I will take orders if anyone wants me to, but my VHO is that the opening is lovely, full of green violet notes, but it clings like air freshener and finishes a bit like some of the louder Lynx fragrances. I still don't dislike it and will try it a few times before consigning it. It is definitely perfumista territory, and I do understand why it has been so widely reviewed. It's very accomplished, but also very manufactured and rather too powerful; this is a male scent, if I subscribed to gender conventions, though I don't think DS would like it.

A sighting! Fantastic news OC!

Yes I seem to remember that I could smell a lot of Iso-E Super in the drydown of Girl, which was disappointing and dull after the interesting top notes of violet and playdoh. Still, lots of people love I-ES so it shouldn't put anyone off!

LibertyBlue · 21/03/2018 20:57

Phew back from marathon management course and am cream crackered and laden with new samples to try from my Bloom visit!

mrsGruber sorry to hear work news - hopefully it will work out ok for you

Sock a sighting of Girl in Poundland - yeay! Was beginning to think I’d dreamt it. I would LOVE a bottle please and will send you samples in return. Please PM your fragrance family preferences.

sweet fragrance enthusiasts I too am partial to a heavy dose of vanilla/ Tonka etc. There are a huge number of gourmands and orientals around now which are well balanced. Last night I wore memoirs of a Tresspasser (Imaginary authors) to dinner and really enjoyed the papery, dry wood drydown - yes it’s sweet but also has depth. It’s the bland overly sweet perfumes I dislike (eg La Vie EST Belle). I must admit I tend to wear these around the house or evenings out, I don’t feel comfortable wearing out and about in daytime.

Nowt wrong with a lot of Jo Malone scents- there’s some very interesting, stunning and genius note combinations in the range, - it’s just that the ingredients, longevity and sillage can’t justify the high price tag imo, but nowt wrong with the scents.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 21:09

How many bottles shall I go back for? It's not a long way and I usually go about every 10 days. I think I have three so far.... others? We are talking out of cow town shopping so the chase may not be too frantic!

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 21:09

The pack is rather chic too.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 21/03/2018 21:40

oooh i would love 2 of the Girl if you are able to get some OC will happily pay for them and for postage (do you have paypal?) I don't really have any samples so reimbursing you is best i can do. I don't tend to bother with samples at all, i just jump straihgt in and blind buy Blush

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2018 22:17

Will try... I shall clear the shelf (collar the market, ratchet up the price, do a Gordon Gekko.... no). Will post what I manage, and let you all decide.

Post 3 on Girl comments: it dies down (but only after six hours) really very prettily. It's not subtle, but it is extraordinarily ... wearable. I do like this, and yes it's full of ISOsuper, and loud, rapper scent, but it is IMVHO a perfumista success. I would hate to have wear it daily. But I probably (eek, just) would.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 21/03/2018 22:19

Can i interest anyone in the PP dupe i posted earlier in the thread? quite honestly, if there are no takers, i'm going to do the unthinkable and throw it out as i really can't bear it. I think it's the resin, it's just too harsh and bitter for my nose

auberginesrus · 21/03/2018 22:20

Just read this, we're so ahead of the curve on this thread (well you lot, not me so much)!

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/03/2018 22:55

SOTD is Chanel 19. Who knew International Fragrance Day was a thing.

MrsR I love MMM Fireplace. I did a load of work for SQA last year on top of my actual job, and bought a full bottle when I got a big chunk of the money. I also like the sound of Lipstick On, but I have FM Lipstick Rose which I suspect is possibly similar. (It is amazing, but I tend to think on it as spring/summer.) Funnily enough I completed what I think will be my last bit of SQA work today which should hopefully pay out next month. Things here are so tough just now with DP not working, but I still feel like I deserve a little treat...

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/03/2018 22:58

Oh, and Lipstick Rose smells quite a bit like Guerlain Meteorites, kittens, or Rouge G lipsticks.

LibertyBlue · 21/03/2018 23:28

Sock you’re a legend- thank you x

Judy you definitely deserve a perfume treat if you’re doing extra work

I’ve just sprayed Zoologist B*T on a tester card in the living room, while hubby is watching Netflix. He is not amused (it stinks!) I’m heading off to bed Wink

VioletWillow · 22/03/2018 06:26

Ispentthedayinbed - jeepers I used to love Armani Code! That has prompted me to add another search to Fragrantica to try 😊 I can't remember what Code smells like, but citrus and similar, I really like Juniper Sling (Penhaligons) and am trying anything that says it's a gin scent as they all seem to suit me for spring. Pell Wall Gin and Lime too, and I think 4160 Tuesdays just did a gin scent.
Calmwhoknows that is so kind of you! I am in Germany though so I don't want you forking out a ton for postage. Both sound delicious and I am going to hunt down a sample of the Chanel!
AlexColby yes I think eclectic is the way forward, I am still re-finding my way and keeping my nose open (so to speak) so hopefully will find lots of smell categories that I never would have gone near before.
SOTD today is Juniper Sling - after the vanilla dousing yesterday I need a fresh change!

UnnecessaryFennel · 22/03/2018 06:53

Go on then, OneNight since I'm not spending anymore until July I'll do the decent thing and take it off your hands. The notes look interesting and I don't mind resin-y scents so perhaps I'll like it Smile

judy, of course, I'd forgotten about the Meteorites perfume...I wonder if the rumours are indeed true that it's being re-released? And I agree that you absolutely deserve a treat - have you thought about what you might get (I assume it'll be a perfume treat)?

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 06:59

Judy....doooooo iiitttttt 😁

Hmm

Busy busy day today and poss and bit tiresome too

Sotd prob obsession (again)

I need to find dh a nice aftershave/cologne...suggestions?

ISpentTheDayInBed · 22/03/2018 08:28

I've just remembered a bottle of Donna Karan Chaos that I have in a cupboard, so am wearing that today. It's the reformulated version from about 10 years ago maybe. It's ok, but I don't love it.

[VioletWillow] I love the sound of the Gin and Lime :)

Motoko · 22/03/2018 08:41

mrsr my husband wears Crabtree and Evelyn West Indian Lime, which is lovely and fresh smelling.

SOTD is Atelier Des Ors Larmes Du Desert. Just sprayed, and it's quite heavy on the patchouli, which I love. Blooming thing didn't spray though, it just squirted a thin stream at my wrist. Hate it when sample atomisers do that, and it seems quite common amongst my samples.

UnnecessaryFennel · 22/03/2018 09:27

SOTD is Amouage Opus IV. Loads of cumin and coriander in this one, but cut with lemon and rose. I actually really like this, despite the fact that it's the nearest thing to Lebanese Businessman I've ever worn, I think Grin

Ollivander84 · 22/03/2018 10:02

SOTD is sexiest scent

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 10:13

Good choice ollivander 😁❤

I'm in obsession. Gosh I'd forgotten how lovely it is!

pestilentialboundary · 22/03/2018 10:23

SotD is vintage No19. EDT on one wrist and EDP on the other Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/03/2018 10:27

Fennel if you PM me your details, I shall get it sent off to you Smile

auberginesrus · 22/03/2018 10:38

Mrs R my husband is not a massive one for scents but is known to sometimes spritz a bit of Obsession for Men, which I like on him - you and Mr R could be matching!

SOTD What I Did On My Holidays - wishful thinking for nice weather. Still feeling grotty and now have a sore throat to boot Sad

mrsreynolds · 22/03/2018 10:44

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Aubergine....I ordered dh some obsession for men about 10 mins ago!!!
