You probably know the drill by now - come and join us and to talk about perfume. We're friendly and smell lovely.

Old Thread.

Pink and gold bottle. I had a matching make-up set.

SotE is Aubade - this is a very good bedtime scent (in a cosy pyjamas sort of way).

SotD Dali Wild. Green, white florals and woody. Quite like it but the sillage and longevity are pants. And 'Wild' seems a completely inappropriate name.

Ordered MG Lemon and Fire yesterday. Not Plum because Peaches. Although I was tempted by the solid perfume.

DH just presented me with this month's Bloom samples. All green, I'm in heaven. They've sent the new formulation of Panda, two months ago I got the old formulation so it will be interesting to compare.

The solid perfume is very satisfying on several levels. It's a tactile, heavily weighted wingless snitch. (Small but not so handbag friendly). Defo hiding this from DS as even I am tempted to lob this one at the front window. . Smells much warmer than the spray.

Yes- very fruity and curvy pink/ gold bottle! My mum wore it.

Fosco is the Dali from a TPS box? I had that, but wasn’t very me so gave it away to a friend. I’m tempted by Fire. If I like Plum is there a good chance I’d like fire? I also got the MG lemon and love that too - is Day it’s a fairly masculine citrus soapy smell - so made up I like them both

LibertyBlue yes, the subscription box. I am blind buying the MGs due to their extreme cheapness but will send you a sample when I get myself sorted with sprayers etc. Send me a PM to remind me!

MrsGruber I also got the Plum solid Perfume (as well as 50ml of Plum and purse spray of lemon). It’s beautiful but I agree, too heavy for your handbag. I might leave it by my bedside- I feel it might be a bit much for my office with the tuberose.

For anyone dithering about buying the Mary Greenwells- do it! They are such a bargain and if you buy 50ml or more, you get a free sample so you can try it before unwrapping the cellophane. So not much of a risk if you’re buying blind. You can just take it back to the shop if you don’t like it.

Plum won't be much of a guide Blue.

Fire is a relatively gentle spiced/incensy rose oud (with just a tiny and brief hint of barnyard). (For comparison purposes, Firedance is a way, way smokier, more leathery and savoury rose).

SOTD Fragonard Santal Cardamome. Love this - sparkling sandalwood and spice, but not overpowering. Lovely on such a dreich day.

Fire and Plum are very different beasts liberty. I like both - Fire I've come to like after a dodgy start and Plum I was surprised to like due to the white flower overload. I find Fire quite dry and almost austere - Plum is much more opulent and luxurious. There's little warmth in it despite the name, which I think was the reason for my original disappointment with it - but I'm glad I have it and like it more each time I spray it. It's worth a go, especially at that price!

I didn't like Fire Blue I've already sent mine on to MIL or I would have sent you a sample. I got lots of incense, vetiver and patchouli. I'm on the fence with patchouli, and It was too heavy on me unfortunately.

Thanks for your offer of samples - Sock I’ve packaged up a nice little selection for you so perhaps you could pop a fire sample in post for me as I would feel like I’m giving you something equivalent in return (for girl as well). SOTD is Mary Greenwell Lemon- it’s fantastic. Smells like a men’s cologne and 2 hours in I’ve still got lots of lemon sherbet. Lots of moss coming through now which is why I think it smells masculine

The MG Lemon is now getting powdery- never smelt anything like this before and I like it a lot.

Sock Iris Goddess didn’t smell great for the first hour - on my skin it went all bitter, but after that the drydown was lovely

I’m another one who loves Plum but not Fire. I found it very ‘dry’ and devoid of any warmth ( the plum has lots of it ).And I ended up swopping it away for something else.

Sotd is here philosophy baby grace. Not remotely sophisticated but I'm enjoying my first day of maternity leave where I can just lounge about the house so it seems fitting!
All these posts about MG are intriguing me (you bunch of enablers). Can't belie the price - Is the best price on fragranceshop?
I like the sound of fire and cherry. I love patchouli! Anyone tried cherry?
All the raves about lemon are making me think about it but I'm just not a citrusy/ fresh smell type person.

Quite liking the Iris Goddess but was a little niggardly with the spritz so not getting the full fragrant experience. Now the dog is walked it may be time to put on something presentable and give it a sharpener.

Sadly my delicious Santal Cardamome has barely lasted
