Floral Street London Poppy this morning, which appealed instantly but feels so ethereal I am doubting its lasting power, and it is entirely inappropriate to the windy greyness that is the outside world.

The first great-nephew made his debut yesterday: you have no idea how old that phrase makes me feel!

UnnecessaryFennel · 27/03/2018 10:37

Congratulations sock, how lovely!

I love Heure Exquise, teta - I always find it wonderfully soft and comforting.

SOTD is Alaia Paris. Peppery violets and leather, but there's something very fresh and 'open' about it too. It's more complex and interesting than I thought when I first tried it, and I'm starting to like it a lot.

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 10:38

Congrats sock

auberginesrus · 27/03/2018 10:48

Congrats sock!

SOTD is PP Lime basil mandarin

I love Next Cashmere pineapple and also found out about it from here.

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 10:54

So glad others like cashmere....its my only cheap perfume find!! 😁

LibertyBlue · 27/03/2018 11:26

SOTD is Avery E, perfect office scent- clean musky Iris

Congratulations Sock

pestilentialboundary · 27/03/2018 13:14

SotD is Cuoio, so better than TF TL Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 27/03/2018 14:38

Thank you for the congratulations. I promise, I had nothing to do with it and can claim no credit! (Will enjoy sharing the love, and wait with bated breath until I get a new baby cuddle.)

London Poppy is a bit lovely and much more tenacious than I would have dreamed possible for anything so sheer and evanescent.

And I really need to smell the new Hermès Eau de Citron Noir... soon, it sounds divine.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/03/2018 15:47

wonderful news sock i hope you get plenty of squishy baby cuddles soon!

SOTD has been Paul Smith Rose. A lovely, uncomplicated scent, i do enjoy this very much and is special to me as it was one of the last gifts my mum bought me before she passed away

positivepineapple · 27/03/2018 17:33

That's lovely news Sock Smile

Onenight* I have a soft spot for PS Rose. It's lovely that it will always remind you of your DM now.

My apologies Violet, Floofy & Pest, I've missed the post office today but Arrogant Cat is packaged ready to go in the morning.

One of my colleagues pulled out a bottle of Gucci Rush, I used to wear this when I was a lot younger. I had a spritz for old time sake and remembered why I no longer wear it - it smells like potatoes! I've scrubbed and scrubbed my arm and I can still smell it. It's making me nauseous.

positivepineapple · 27/03/2018 17:36

Hmmmm - The chat app has gone a bit crazy and added some extra characters and thrown in some random bolding to my message. Hmm

LibertyBlue · 27/03/2018 18:30

My Mary Greenwell Plum has arrived and I’ve had a spritz- it’s marvellous- I love it! Thanks to all for recommending and what a shame it’s being discontinued Sad

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 18:35

Sote sexiest scent
Oh it's gorgeous

UnnecessaryFennel · 27/03/2018 18:56

SOTE Creamy Vanilla Crumble.

There are quite a few bargainacious eBay listings for 4160 at the mo... Lion Cupboard, WIDOMH, Inevitable Crimes of Passion...

auberginesrus · 27/03/2018 19:13

Evening all

My name is Aubergines and I am a perfume-aholic, its been approx 4 hours since my last perfume purchase!

I ordered some cheapie Avon scents from a colleague at work today, based on reviews on I Scent You a Day. Then got home and had an order from allbeauty.com arrive. So much for no buying but I am quickly running out of space.

I got Burberry woman based on the fact that someone on here (can't remember who Blush) always wears it and speaks highly of it, and I liked the sound of it from the notes. £15 for a 30ml - I have a spray on the back of my hand and its gorgeous - perfect work scent I would say. Also got a v cheap bottle of Yardley Jade which I've sprayed on the other hand and it too smells lovely.

AlexisColbysFANCYfrock · 27/03/2018 19:53

Evening all.

Survived a day at work today, although coughed and sneezed my way through it Grin. Last day of term for me tomorrow - horrible day of back to back training (me delivering) - and then two and a half blissful weeks off! Hallelujah!

Lovely, happy news Sock Flowers.

I'm in Queen Latifah Queen of Hearts tonight. A shameless celebrity purchase I was switched on to by Americans on Fragrantica. Its lovely. Starts off very strong and spicy, lots of plum and cinnamon, but dries down to a soapy amber thats nice and cosy for a pale, shivering wretch in her PJs on the sofa Grin.

'Tis my birthday tomorrow and hoping I get a nice perfume surprise from somebody in my family. Have dropped heavy 'Diorissimo EDP' hints to DH, so lets see...

AlexisColbysFANCYfrock · 27/03/2018 19:58

Oh, and I looked at my bank statements for the last three months and I have to admit I'd be ashamed to let anyone (least of all DH) see them. Yikes. I've spent far too much although probably would've spent it on clothes or takeaways anyway.

I'm awaiting a 'vintage' (very old) bottle of Yardley Lily of the Valley I bid for on eBay out of nostalgia for my Granny. Then I have resolved to absolutely, definitely NOT spend on perfume for the rest of this month AND the whole of April. Allowing myself a FB in duty free on holiday in May, though Grin. I think thats very reasonable, no? Wink

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 20:06

I bought 2 PP dupes today
That's it
Absolutely NO perfume buying in April 😣😔

OCSockOrphanage · 27/03/2018 20:25

London Poppy really, really lasts... and this comes from a person whose skin eats many scents. I can still catch a whiff despite multiple hand washings and 12 hours, yet I was never aware of it being powerful. I had to put my nose to the wrist every time. I can't say I adore it, but it's very pleasant, subtle and if I still worked in an office, it would be FB juice. I haven't bothered to check the notes but nothing dominates, and poppies don't smell. Definitely better than the Black Lotus which was a fail on sniff one.

LibertyBlue · 27/03/2018 20:41

Sock I agree about the Floral Street Perfumes - they have very good longevity and I thought Iris Goddess got better as the day progressed

Haha with you all on the over spending on Perfume- I need to reign it in. However, I did get some great deals & have a great collection, so no regrets.

I’ve been ruminating over what the Mary Greenwell plum smells like. Going back years through my fragrance history. I think it’s Deci Dela my Nina Ricci. I haven’t smelt it for about 20 years but it’s bringing back a memory of the bottle. Looking through the notes on fragrantica it is clearly different (raspberries not plums as top notes) but it was one of the first fruity floral perfumes and it is a Chypre so makes sense, it has the patchouli, fruit including peach in both, white flowers and amber/ sandalwood base. I’m very impressed by my olfactory memory matching this up so well!

LibertyBlue · 27/03/2018 20:44

^ of course I have no way of knowing if they actually DO smell similar, because the Deci Dela has been discontinued. Clearly not a popular fragrance style but I like it!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/03/2018 21:05

In the last week I have bought 7 bottles of perfume Blush in my defence, i hadn't bought any full bottles in ages and all of them were reduced in price so i don't feel too guilty|!

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/03/2018 21:08

SOTD is Chanel 19. Another rubbish day here, I am so ready for the Easter holidays! We are working on Friday, which is really annoying, but then two weeks off.

sock that’s such lovely news!

blue I bought MG Plum in Harvey N’s when it was first launched, must have been about 2012 - it cost a bloody fortune, and I was so sad when I got to the end of the bottle. I bought another when it was discounted, but I don’t like it nearly as much this time round. (Which is probably good since it’s been discontinued!)

LibertyBlue · 27/03/2018 22:12

Judy How things change! Don’t get me wrong- I’m pleased to get a bargain, but it’s a bit sad that such a high quality product is being flogged off so cheap. It’s worth £60 a bottle. I wonder what makes a perfume brand go stratospheric while others flop? Will Floral Street take off, it must be costing a lot to finance a big Covent Garden shop for 8 perfumes.

To all the teachers, enjoy your well deserved Easter break. I forgot it’s Easter so bonus of 2 bank holidays just around the corner Smile

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 22:30

I remember deci dela...quite fruity if I recall?
