You probably know the drill by now - come and join us and to talk about perfume. We're friendly and smell lovely.

Cooing at the honour of a title thread, but please don't mention the scent! If I may, I should add that Ylang Ylang Expresso has legs, even after multiple handwashes and 10 hours wear. It bodes well for any Floral Scent that is appealing, but that will be the one with the sillage and heft of a sodden paper bag!

mrsreynolds · 26/03/2018 20:52

Mrsg I'm not finding many "new" loves...im obv not trying hard enough 😁

MrsGruber · 26/03/2018 20:59

MrsR -Think its my 'likes' category that's expanded exponentially.

Blimey you guys have been busy on here today! Thanks for the warning about TK Maxx candles- I’ve adjusted my expectations accordingly but still hoping they arrive in one piece!

I picked up Luca Turin’s book in the library yesterday. Some of the descriptions are really out there and a bit random. Not sure I’m learning much, but it’s quite funny. I now want to Serge Lutens Silver Iris Mist, as it sounds like the holy grail of Iris perfumes. Has anyone tried it? Is it as wonderful as Luca claims??

SOTD (now gone) was MH Noix de Tubereuse- a lovely Tuberose with plenty of Tonka. Sadly dismissed by Luca Turin as ‘bubblegum Tuberose’ that is neither an interesting floral nor sweet perfume- I think he gave it 1 star- harsh!

SOTE (inspired by Fennel’s PSA) is Tauer LADDM which gets five star from Luca Turin (he also comes across as a bit of a sycophant - so I’m glad to hear it hasn’t gone to Andy’s head and he’s still sorting out customer orders via SM!). But mainly I’m wearing LADDM to convince myself I already own one Tauer miniature and I do not need another one until it’s finished (it’s not working!)

LibertyBlue · 26/03/2018 21:24

^Like Judy, I’m broke now til payday (and waiting on work expenses to come through)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 26/03/2018 22:11

I've not tried any Tauer, though I would never say never to them!

Ended up wearing Obsession again today while i was out, funny that I never tried this before now, for some reason i had a mental block against and had decided i just wouldn't like it without ever sniffing it! As it happens, i like it very much!

Calmwhoknows · 26/03/2018 22:14

mrsreynolds, yes Incense Rose is amazing. I have a full bottle of it, having spent a happy afternoon in Les Senteurs testing a dozen or so of the Tauers. I would be happy to send you a sample, in the interests of finding you another perfume love 💕💕 PM me with your address.

Calmwhoknows · 26/03/2018 22:25

MrsG, no I haven’t tried Nuit Etoilee. It sounds very minty and delightful! I will try it next time I’m in a large John Lewis.

positivepineapple · 26/03/2018 22:27

SOTE is Tokyo Spring Blossom (Sarah Mcartney's fave)

I like that it has that fizzy, zingy note. Must be the grapefruit - as it reminds me of Doe in the snow, but there's far too much citrus for me unfortunately. I don't hate it. I don't love it.

I am definitely reserving final judgement for a summers day. It may be the name, but there's something that hints this scent prefers/and blooms on sun warmed skin.

CountFosco · 26/03/2018 22:33

SotD Paris 1948 which I can't make my mind up about. Too peachy for me really but reminds me of my grandmother (I suspect it's the hay although she could well have been a Chypre woman) and each time I wear it I like it more.

It's payday today. Still haven't decided about shoes vs perfume but I now have MG perfumes in my basket as well as Vetiver. And I need to use my AC voucher soon. And then I got lost down a green perfume wormhole thanks to iscentyouaday and NEED to try Herba Fresca NOW. Lets hope my local HoF have it.

SotE #1 Zoflora Hyacinth Grin

LibertyBlue · 26/03/2018 22:44

Anyone remember the smell of the strawberry shortcake doll? Luca Turin says the top notes of L’Artisan Parfumeur Voleur De Roses smells just like her. There is a bottle on eBay about to go under the hammer for £15. Somebody stop me! Child of the 80s here Blush

MrsGruber · 26/03/2018 22:53

OC - you've got competition now from Liberty and her Strawberry Shortcake doll! Sure we could work them both in though....

Liberty - you should go for it. That is possibly the most compelling reason yet to buy a bottle of perfume from ebay. Grin

MrsGruber I know, but my child has to eat! Going to bed now so I’m not tempted Halo

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 26/03/2018 23:21

I've a sudden hankering for Drole De Rose. I'm sure i have a large bottle somewhere!

MrsGruber · 27/03/2018 00:30

SotE#2 is Lidl's Angel lookey-likey. Fun to spray around with abandon (it's got stiff competition from the Zoflora). Need to do a proper comparison sometime.

positivepineapple · 27/03/2018 07:23

I love Zoflora MrsG that stuff is potent!

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 07:26

one yay! Another obsession lover 😁
liberty I remember them well and had a couple I think! Dooooo iiiittttt 😁
calm really? Oh that would be wonderful. I will pm you.

I've been having a sort out. I'm determined to only keep scents I love and cant be without so I have a nearly FB of sun moon stars and a nearly FB of ET diamonds and rubies.

[I've no idea what's happened to me but I've really gone off peach]

I can't to decants as I haven't got the paraphernalia and I'm very clumsy 🤣

Paris 1948...pleasant but too peachy!

I'm going to order PP rive gauche and paloma Picasso once payday rolls around 😁

Sotd prob mitsouko

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 08:28

Oh that's weird...I promise I used paragraphs!

Also its missed out a whole bit about how I've gone off peach scents!!

MrsGruber · 27/03/2018 08:49

SotD is Paris 1948. (The power of suggestion...). Actually, it suits a damp spring day pretty well. Usually I layer with a bigger moss, but I'm giving the full strength chalky peach note free rein today.

DD smells pretty good in Primark's Rose Oud.

OP posts:
mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 09:24

Oh I had the primark rose oud as liquid hand soap
It's very nice

UnnecessaryFennel · 27/03/2018 09:46

Yes, I too gave the Primark Rose Oud a try the other week - was pleasantly surprised. I love a bit a lot of Zoflora too.

No SOTD yet here. Had a terrible night's sleep (hacking cough) and then after finally dropping off was woken at 4.30am by a burglar alarm across the road Confused. Feel like a zombie this morning - thankfully had nothing planned in the office so am working from home and still in pyjamas. Thank god for a flexible work schedule - I do not miss the days of 12-hour shifts and on-call duty at all!

Right, off to refill my coffee cup and seek out something scented...

mrsreynolds · 27/03/2018 09:52

Too damp for mitsouko

Sotd obsession 😁

teta · 27/03/2018 10:02

Heure Exquise today.
It’s reminiscent of Safari with the strong Galbanum.
I love Zoflora too, especially the hyacinth variety.
In spring I buy bunches of scented hyacinths and narcissus from the local market as I just love the perfume.

positivepineapple · 27/03/2018 10:14

SOTD - Next Cashmere

After hearing it talked about on here I grabbed a bottle. It's really lovely, clean, soapy, powdery soft flowers.
