You probably know the drill by now - come and join us and to talk about perfume. We're friendly and smell lovely.

OneNight, is that Estée Lauder Beyond Paradise at the back? I love that perfume, although the testers I’ve tried recently are not as nice as I remember it from years ago. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s been reformulated or because the testers were a bit off. And I think I can see Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy in its box. Lovely plummy, fruity topnotes and sweet (I like sweet, though!).

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/03/2018 12:32

That is Beyond Paradise at the back but no Britney spears, I must admit i've never tried any of her perfumes

Calmwhoknows · 24/03/2018 12:43

Well, I like some of them, but they are very sweet and can be a bit samey. It’s the purple, flowery box underneath the 4160 board box. (I want to know what it is now!). Also, I may be wrong again, but is that Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur at the front? I would be interested to know what you think of that as I keep being tempted by their offers!

mrsreynolds · 24/03/2018 12:56

I used to use Yves rocher years ago when they were cheap!
The perfume seems very £££ now?
I used to have isphahan and magnolia

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/03/2018 13:00

oh,t he purple box is ET Violet Eyes Smile you have the Yves Rocher bang on and it is very nice, very much a spring scent IMHO but it lasts well on my skin and the bottle is lovely too which is always a bonus i think

Calmwhoknows · 24/03/2018 13:10

Yes, the Yves Rocher is not that cheap unless it’s in a deal. I have a bottle of Comme Une Evidence which I got as a freebie in one of their deals. It’s a classy interesting rose. I keep forgetting to try Violet Eyes. I have her Diamonds and Emeralds (it’s a definite love because of the peach! 🍑)

MrsGruber · 24/03/2018 13:14

We've not really had a spring day here yet - but that's a good prompt Pest to think about the green or cool things to bring out from the back of the cupboard.

My bottle of Girl has turned up. It smells very like Fahrenheit, I think, but a bit woodier.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/03/2018 13:50

I realised my (2) bottles of Belle D'Opium were missing so just had a frantic 5 minutes trying to put my hands on them! found them in a toiletry bag on another shelf. it's one of my all time favourites, i used to wear it constantly when i first met DP so very much reminds me of that time. Not quite everything is on that shelf, I have a few bits that i'm currently wearing the most out on my drawer top where they are more easily got to when i'm getting dressed!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/03/2018 14:01

I am also in MG Lemon, and must apologise to MG Plum, as it wasn't that that minged on me, but Fire. I never smelled Plum.

MG Lemon is lovely and very interesting, I like the fresh citrus/serious chypre combo.

I have been looking longingly at my spring/summer collection:
Jade,
Ealing Green
Vent Vert
Giv III
Fidji
Eau du Sud
Eau d'Hadrien
Rive Gauche (PP)
L'Air du Temps
Paris
Eau du Rochas (want an FB of this at some point)
O de Lancome (this too) (I become a bit citrus obsessed in summer)
L'Occitane Verveine
Almost all of the Aqua Allegoricas.

Yves Rocher is ALWAYS on mad, proper mad offers. Sign up for their emails, and close your eyes at their crap website (worse even than 4160s in its "in the beginning there was the internet" kind of graphic. It looks basically like a photocopy of the catalogue) and the offers will start pouring in. I just signed into my account and am offered a free gift out of 6 with purchase, all of which are FBs of perfume (So Elixir, Cuir Vetiver, Moment de Bonheur, Comme une evidence, and another one that looks like a PM) Clicking through to the perfumes, almost all are showing at 50% off. Loads of skincare at BOGOF as well. When posting on the Christmas bargains threads, we noticed you DO have to sign up and click through from your email to see the offers, as they are tailored to email clickthrough. Secrets d'essences de Neroli (my favourite,) is half price but OOS at the moment.

I realise I have a sample of You, or someone like you. Not tried it as have been put off by silly marketing wankery. Will give it a go.

OCSockOrphanage · 24/03/2018 15:27

Perfumistas who would like one of the Girl 10mls... I scored five in Poundland, so PM your addresses and I will pack them and send next week. I remember (but haven't reread the thread) three of them being spoken for.

Dries van Noten today, because it's damp and very grey.

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 24/03/2018 15:28

Oh oh oh I was going to say Violet Eyes! I like this game. Sadly my current box is far too embarrassing to share pictures (that sounds wrong).

I'm so glad I was too late for that Vanilla Crumble on eBay, I would have bid otherwise and I just can not afford to spend any more

I was also wearing MG Lemon this morning (maybe we are all synchronising and becoming one Grin) perfect Spring scent for me, YY to all the others (that's I've tried anyway!) listed and also Neroli Portofino for me, I love this so much at this time of year.

I did have to wash off the MG then as the lovely lovely cheap very kindly sent me some Molecule 01 and I nearly hyperventilated with excitement. I cannot smell it on myself and one DD cannot smell it either, DH said he could smell it though, and when pressed, helpfully said "I dunno...like nice. It just smells...it smells...like nice" Hmm In retaliation for this unhelpfulness I sprayed it on him Grin and I just got wood. Cedar, maybe? One DD said "it smells like aftershave but nicer" also no help at all. I can report though, that DH went to the shops and said a woman cut into his queue and stood very very close to him...Shock What do we think? Does it actually work?!

Thank you cheap, if you have converted DH to scentGrin I am extremely grateful plus it has very much cheered me up as I have been having a right pity party this week plus I have big medical appointments next week. I shall wear the molecule and watch the results intently, it will be a good distraction and one of my doctors is extremely sexy Wink

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 24/03/2018 15:29

Hmm "I just got wood" sounds kind of wrong too Blush I think I should proof read before pressing post Shock

mrsreynolds · 24/03/2018 15:39

I'll sign up piam

LibertyBlue · 24/03/2018 16:04

Agh I just spent 20 mins typing a long msg replying to you all and it disappeared!! Don’t have another 20 mins to spare so will type quickly

Thanks Sock you’re a star! Have PMd you. Another interesting Iris to try!

SOTD E Coudray Iris Rose - fab stuff one of my favourites (got that powdery lipstick vibe going on). Glad to see teta and calm on the Iris train too. I like Skin on skin too and I’ve just won Penhaligon’s Iris Prima on eBay - so looking forward to trying that! Yep Bloom visit focused on Iris so I bet we have many of the same samples Calm!

Envious of that Perfume cabinet/ collection nightmenace and impressed by perfumista sleuthing skills.

You lot are tempting me with the Mary Greenwells now - what great buys. I don’t buy blind but am tempted

Piam Eldo marketing is wanky but yosly is pretty good for a warm day (it’s like a mojito) I’m sure you’ll get one of those days before we do in the U.K.!

Calmwhoknows · 24/03/2018 16:04

This is the storage for my go-to perfumes. I keep them all in their boxes as I enjoy the ceremony of taking them out when I want to use them. And I don’t have to worry about keeping them out of the light. I also have one or two lots of storage boxes stacked in a cupboard. Blush

Calm your cupboard is beautiful and has made me resolve to keep mine in their boxes as they look so pretty!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/03/2018 17:38

calm your cupboard is much neater than mine!

Have Pm'd you back OC very excited to try the Girl, ive been wanting to for ages!!

Realised I have some MORE perfumes in another bag but they are sealed duplicates of ones I already have open so they are away from my main collection until the opened ones have been used up Blush

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/03/2018 18:30

Ooh, love the photos of everyone's perfume shelves Smile

Mine are scattered in various drawers and cupboards around my bedroom - it's getting to the point where it's a choice between perfume storage and knicker storage...

I keep my FBs in the boxes though because I too love the ritual of taking them out and putting them away each time.

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/03/2018 18:31

I wish I'd bid for that CVC on eBay...

Judydreamsofhorses · 24/03/2018 18:40

SOTD is Chanel Gabrielle. I had a migraine last night (DP had to put me to bed like a child) so I needed something light. I prefer it this time round, maybe because the weather is a big nicer.

UnnecessaryFennel · 24/03/2018 18:45

This is my sample drawer and some of my FBs. Those Mary Greenwells don't half take up some space! The older, unboxed stuff (Youth Dew, Nina Ricci, Clarins etc) is in the aforementioned knickers drawer but a picture of that might be a step too far Grin

Re: Girl - the Fahrenheit blast of vetiver wore off quite quickly, and it's now quite sandalwoody, with a whiff of Imperial Leather soap. I like it.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 24/03/2018 19:33

Hello everyone! Fab pictures... I need a new shelf in my life Grin

Glad the packages arrived safely- and impressed by Royal Mail's speediness. Hope you both life them. (Although not too much. You got wood indeed Floofy ShockGrin )

Tried L'air du temps today. Smelled of the 80s so now trying to work out who it must be that I knew who wore it...

Judydreamsofhorses · 24/03/2018 19:52

I think this should be my “shelf of wealth”as DP calls it. Samples live in a biscuit tin on the shelf above.
