Of course @Treeballarae I've got rosacea though so I don't know how useful these products will be for anyone else. Remember, you asked for it Grin

Toners:

  • Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist
Brilliant in warm weather and reduces my rosacea.
  • REN ready steady glow daily AHA tonic
Not as good for my rosacea but I use this one in the evening because it really gets the grime off.

Moisturisers:

  • Omorovicza elemental emulsion
I use it underneath the Vinosource for extra moisture, it improves the look of my rosacea.
  • Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet
Not greasy and gives a good base under makeup.
  • Cetaphil
For everything else, excellent, cheap, good for my rosacea and particularly good for extra moisture in winter.

Night moisturiser:

  • REN wake wonderful nighttime facial
Amazing stuff, makes my skin look excellent in the morning.

Face mask:

  • Rodial vit c brightening mask
For use a few times a week.
  • Verso Deep Hydration Mask
Occasional use for when my skin needs a proper boost.

Body moisturiser:

  • Ameliorate transforming body lotion
Non-sticky, soaks in and makes my skin feel great.

Cleanser:

  • Tesco cucumber facial wash
Cheap as chips, does the job as well as anything else I've found.

Lip balm:

  • Carmex
Again, as good as anything else I've found.

Hand cream:

  • Body Shop Hemp hand cream
This is excellent on my hands at any time of year, I also use it on my elbows and knees.

Fake tan:

  • Vita Liberata pHenomenal self tanner
Easy to apply, I'm sparing with it and it doesn't last anything like the 3 weeks it claims but it dries quickly and it's good colour and coverage.

I still can't find: a fragrance I love, a go-to body exfoliator, a facial serum, an eye cream/gel/serum that works for me. I'm experimenting with hair products, the jury is still out so far.

I didn't even know there was a Lookfantastic shop @ememem84. Chin, chin. Feel better in the morning.

ememem84 · 07/07/2018 08:14

Yes! I suppose it’s the first store they had! I think there’s one I. London too. I’m In jersey. The website and warehouse used to be based here so it was great - could order on a Sunday and get same day delivery! Someone from the warehouse would drop it round on their way home from work!!

PurpleNailVarnish · 08/07/2018 09:27

@ememem84 That's excellent service from Lookfantastic. We've moved now but we used to live near the UK head office of a small but popular (on here) clothing business, it was oddly situated in the small town/large village. They would let you ring them with an order and go there to try things on or similarly drop it round on their way home. It was a right result. I'm not sure I could walk past a Lookfantastic every day so I admire your restraint.

Anyhow, I have a list for the week. As usual it's long because I've got lots of samples. There are still lots of half empty bottles left around from the DDs while they go off to spend their summer with boyfriends/travelling/going to festivals and generally loafing about. They return periodically to sleep for 22 hours straight and leave their washing all over the floor, a mere foot or two away from the wash basket.

  • Ameliorate transforming body lotion.
Love it, I've already bought more and it'll be my go-to when I've used up the other stuff I've got.
  • Grow Gorgeous hair density shampoo and the conditioner.
I love the smell but they're a bit spendy given that neither seem to add density.
  • Weleda arnica massage oil and Weleda wild rose massage oil, both 10ml.
These are good, I'll get some more to use at night when my skin feels particularly dry or dull.
  • Body Shop peppermint foot spray.
I'd had this hanging around for a while and it's been lovely at night in this warm weather. I've never liked having hot feet at night (is that a weird thing? I'm not sure).
  • Mauli grow strong hair oil.
It was nice enough but didn't add any volume to my hair or encourage it to grow any more.
  • Caudalie premier Cruz la creme sample and Caudalie Vinosource sos thirst quenching serum.
I loved the cream, Caudalie works well on my skin and I would buy this. The serum was as good as any I've tried but my search for the 'right' serum continues.
  • L'Oréal long hair treatment mask.
It's good but I prefer their coconut mask so I've bought that instead.
  • This Works Sleep Body oil
It didn't help me fall asleep and I wasn't fussed with it as a body oil, I preferred the Weleda.
  • Skin Owl lavender beauty drops.
I liked them and they improve my skin but I think they're better in winter when my skin is drier.
  • Malin & Goetz peppermint shampoo sample.
Nice and refreshing but I'm not sure I'd buy it because it's spendy and didn't wow me.
  • Wella invigo nutri enrich nourishing mask sample.
This was ok but I prefer the L'Oréal hair masks.
  • REN glycolactic radiance renewal mask sample
A good mask but I like Rodial vitamin C better.
  • Collistar tallaso scrub sample
Cor, this stuff takes no prisoners. Thick exfoliating grains and a strong smell but it certainly exfoliated my skin and afterwards my fake tan went on well. I'd buy a full size.
  • This Works Sleep+ hair elixir
The fundamental problem with calling your product range 'This Works' is that it's a direct challenge to arseholes like me. No, this doesn't work to help me get to sleep (though their pillow spray does work for me) and no, it didn't work to make my hair look better overnight. In fact, it was quite drying on my hair and I woke up every morning I used it looking like an overwrought Medusa.
  • Algenist advanced anti aging repair oil sample.
Soaked in well overnight and my skin looked good in the morning. The thing is, when anything says 'anti aging' I expect to wake up looking like I did 20 or 30 years ago, so as a concept I'm always going to feel disappointed. Still it was good enough despite the lack of Back To The Future effects and I would probably buy it again though I don't really want to put oil on my face in this heat.
ememem84 · 08/07/2018 10:56

Body shop raspberry body butter finished (finally). I liked this but it’s expensive for what it is and it did smell too sweet. Initially I liked the almost candyfloss smell. But it got boring.

I have 4 moisturisers left. 😱

Moved onto a boots “white” one which smells like earl grey tea.

I tried the new ysl mascara primer yesterday with the purple mascara. It’s awesome.

IPokeBadgers · 08/07/2018 11:51

Mascara primer?? I have never heard of such a thing! And won't be looking it up for fear of getting a bad case of the want-its!

Finally finished up this shampoo and conditioner....twas from poundland or some such shop and was pretty rubbish for myour lovely locks so glad it is done with. Won't repurchase. Itching to get stuck into bottles of Mane and Tail but also have a dove set to finish up first.

ememem84 · 08/07/2018 12:40

badgers yep. Ysl. It’s new. I probably wouldn’t have bought it ordinarily but 25% off and hungover lured me in!! Haha

PurpleNailVarnish · 08/07/2018 13:31

Oh @ememem84 I didn't realise it was mascara primer, I read it that you'd bought (face) primer and mascara.
In that case I'd like to know what it's like and whether it helps to keep your mascara in place, especially on hot days like this.

Have you used mane & tail before @IPokeBadgers? Is it any good? If so/if not why?

I hope I'm not making a PITA of myself with all my questions, I'm just genuinely interested in finding products that work.

ememem84 · 08/07/2018 13:48

I’ve only used it once purple but so far it made my lashes really stand out.

I’ve also tried mane and tail. I took an almost empty one from the stables I ride at (instructor laughed but handed it over) it did nothing for my hair. But I have rather thick unruly hair anyway.

Experiment627 · 08/07/2018 19:31

Before I forget - I have an empty!!!

  • Norfolk Lavender bath soak: pressie from a friend. Nice for a bath.

Experiment627 · 08/07/2018 19:48

@PurpleNailVarnish have you tried the Superdrug Sumply Pure serums? I really like their day one.

@AnotherPinkiePieStory French parapharmacy = 😍

@IPokeBadgers passport drama does not sound good!!! Glad you were able to have a stiff drink!

@ememem84 there is a Feel Unique store?????? 🤯

Wowzers @PurpleNailVarnish you have done well!!!

You ladies are inspiring me to carry on attacking my stash!!!

I have made quite some headway this afternoon on decluttering "papers"... I have never thrown a Christmas card or birthday card away 😬 took decision to change that - I need more space. So far have got rid of about 2/3 - still have more to sort. Step by step.

OP posts:
AnotherPinkiePieStory · 08/07/2018 20:32

Nice work experiment. Cards fill every drawer here! Try to get rid of ones without a nice message but still loads!
Yes pharmacy was wonderful and working my way through Sephora haul. Bliss!

ememem84 · 08/07/2018 21:37

experiment yep. One here in jersey. And I think one in London.

PurpleNailVarnish · 08/07/2018 23:12

How are you feeling @Experiment627?

I'm getting through everything because the sheer volume of stuff is annoying me.
Plus my inability to leave products alone is annoying me and this is an attempt to restore some order.
That and DH wants to have the bathrooms redone .

Are Look Fantastic and Feel Unique the same thing @ememem84?

ememem84 · 09/07/2018 11:21

Not sure if they’re the same brand purple but if it’s online make up and beauty then yea!!

PurpleNailVarnish · 09/07/2018 12:31

I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks.
Cult Beauty sent me a mini magazine lark with a recent order.

Would you look at that list!
It's as much as I can do to get out of the house in the mornings as it is.

@PurpleNailVarnish I am HOT - in a non-mamalicious way 😬 hope weather breaks soon!
Love the Day/Night lists... I do about two of those!

@ememem84 is the milk you can get glorious? 🤤

OP posts:
Experiment627 · 09/07/2018 19:04

I have two empties!!!

  • Caudalie Grape Water: LOVE this! Very refreshing and moisturising. Much better value than the Beauty Elixir
  • Molton Brown Gingerlily bodywash 100ml: 😍
OP posts:
ememem84 · 09/07/2018 19:59

experiment as in from the beautiful jersey cows?! Yep. Creamy and delicious.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/07/2018 20:27

I've used up a bar of soap Grin

Started the soap-on-armpits and PitRok - brilliant results, I'd have never tried a crystal deo if I hadn't read on S&B.

I bought one in Boots (brown paper wrapping, nice enough but £3.80, not worth the price) and picked up 4 Sainsbury pure white soaps for a couple of pounds , which I've moved on to.
Still use showergel after the soap on the rest of me ( L'Occitane Almond Oil and Shea Oil )

Need to clear a load before holidays, then decide what goes with me .

Experiment627 · 10/07/2018 06:41

I have another empty!

  • Bio Oil 125ml: classic but am going to try the Crabtree & Evelyn jojoba oil next (I love the smell)

Ladies, I have been reading these threads since the very beginning, and finally I am ready to join. Call me a heavyweight, no samples here, only full sizes, so a lot to use up.
Shampoos, conditioners and soaps go fast, especially because of the hot summer. As to the nail polish and makeup... well. Well. Well.
Recently I made a list of everything I have. Just to know how much stuff there is really. Looks like I am serious competition to Boots and like. Grin
So I can only take a big brave breath and say: yes, I am a beauty hoarder all right. May I join?

ememem84 · 10/07/2018 20:44

twoblackdogs welcome!! Please join us.

What’s the goal? To find the holy grail of products or to clear space?!

I’m working on shade 3 in my 12 shade naked eyeshadow pallet. I have been working on this for months. But am slowly making my way through.

What type of dogs do you have? Assuming you do actually have dogs?

PurpleNailVarnish · 10/07/2018 21:37

Oh go on with you @Experiment627 I bet you're looking gorgeous and good work on the empties.

Interesting about the deodorant @70isaLimitNotaTarget, I've got a crystal deodorant sample that I've been circling suspiciously. Maybe I'll give it a go now, it's good to hear you're a convert.

Hello @twoblackdogs, welcome.

I admire your tenacity in using every shade in your Naked pallet @ememem84. Do you find they all suit you?

I don't talk about my makeup on this thread, my haul needs using up and paring back but it's not so bad and I don't buy impulse buy it the way I do beauty products. Though I do have some pallets to use up I find I always paler colours first.

Experiment627 · 11/07/2018 06:28

@twoblackdogs you are most welcome!!!!
Make-up is the worst!!! The only way to use up is to use same every day and in copious amounts and I get bored! so I have resigned myself to not resolving this stash ever

@PurpleNailVarnish hmmm weather has broken and I am not sure I like it!

I have an empty:

  • Nuxe Previous scented shower oil 30ml: meh... so many other Shower products I prefer
OP posts:
twoblackdogs · 11/07/2018 07:26

My goal is to use up the things I have bought (hoarded more likely). I have spent so much money for all these things, and now I just can't understand how it happened Confused. Now I am a bit out of money, and when I try to figure out how much I have paid for my stash...
I am a sucker for a nice eyeshadow palette, and there are so many of them...
Still - this year's goal is stop buying and use up what I have. Pity I have just one face Grin so it could take some time.
@experiment627 thank you for your welcome
@ememem84 yes, I have two black dogs. No special breed, just black dogs. Big, though Smile
