purple I’m determined!! The only one that may get left unfinished is the black. There is a steely blue grey which when applied too heavily gives me an air of the pat butchers. However a light dusting and it’s fine!

I have a bare minerals one and a Mac one to get through too....le sigh.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 11/07/2018 20:55

Hi twoblack. Welcome.
Please post list, we all love to see. I might just post pic of my crazy lipstick cupboard!

Experiment627 · 12/07/2018 07:13

Haha!!! @ememem84 "an air of the pat butchers"!!!!! 😂

An amazeballs thing has happened!!! I hit pan on a highlighter!!!!!

So this morning I started on the Crabtree and Evelyn jojoba massage oil - instead of bio-oil.... boy it pours out fast!!! But I smell GOOD!!!

@AnotherPinkie Nooo, please, don't ask me to do that Grin That list is more like a small notebook, and we would probably need a separate thread. I had to made it when I brought home another lipstick and it turned out I already had THREE of them at home. The same company, the same colour. Unopened, btw. Then it dawned I really had a problem.

Those of you who have hit pan on something - how long did it take you to do that? Especially on a Naked palette? Do you use up one colour and then get to the next, or do you rotate? And do you use up one palette and then get the next, or do you use a bit of this, a bit of that? The pigments on Naked are so strong, you only need a bit, and I have barely made a dent on that...

One empty for me: Sally Hansen Teflon Tuff Extra Strength Nail Protector. Was good, I used it on bare nails and on the top of nail polish, worked nicely both ways.

ememem84 · 12/07/2018 11:40

two I think it took me a long time per shade. 4 months of Monday to Friday use. Probably quicker it I was to reapply during the day and wore it at eeekends...

I use one shade at a time...

ememem84 · 12/07/2018 11:41

Oh and one pallet at a time.

I’ve promised myself I’ll be done with my 3 by the time I’m 40. And will treat myself to something nice for my big birthday. Initially I said 35. But I’ll be 34 next birthday so using 3 is looking unlikely

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 12/07/2018 14:07

Yep I hear you twoblack, I came home from Sephora with a new lipstick. Except exactly the same as one bought a month before. Argh. Lovely but still!

Experiment627 · 12/07/2018 14:33

@twoblackdogs for me variety is the spice of life - so I frequently rotate my pallets... I have about 8 eyeshadow pallets on the go plus a load of quads and trios...

Maybe time for a photo to name and shame myself... I will think about it

@Experiment627 the weather still hasn't broken here yet, it's been threatening for a couple of days now but we're still having warm, sunny days. We've had one morning of rain in weeks. Has the sun come back where you are now? And more to the point, how are you feeling whatever the weather is like?
Good work on the highlighter and I'm interested in the jojoba massage oil, maybe I'll give it a sniff next time I'm near a C&E.

I aspire to having an air of the Pat Butchers @ememem84 she's an icon. Can you use the black in your pallet for eyelining? Or even on brows? I admire you only using one pallet at a time.

@AnotherPinkiePieStory when you were in Sephora were you tempted by any of their cheap masks and bits?

Do you have lots of other products too? Or only makeup @twoblackdogs. I'm just nosing.

I thought it was only products that were my problem area but all this talk of pallets has made me realise that I do have quite a few . Maybe I should get stuck in to the makeup too. Confused

TeaAddict235 · 13/07/2018 21:00

@Inthetropics stop making me lust those items in your photos!!! Stop it right now!

The Palmolive shampoos and conditioners are bang on for my hair. They smell delicious too, yum yum.

Where are you in the world? Some of those items look familiar. I definitely probably have a Palmolive aloe Vera conditioner in my stash somewhere. I'll hunt it down and apply it during the next wash. Seriously I love hair products, people do. Not. Show. Photos. Of. Hair. Products.

Must.

Stop.

Over.

Inthetropics · 14/07/2018 01:46

@TeaAddict235 I'm brazilian, living in the south of the country. Do you live in south america by any chance? I also LOVE hair products. Having curly hair and using a lot of products daily are my main excuses to get every new product i see.

I've been staying with my parents for a few days and while i'm here i'm not using any of my products because my mum always gets everything i need so i can travel light. Yesterday was my birthday and i got a few products as gifts, most of them are from L'Occitane au Brésil and the tradicional L'Occitane. This means my list is now longer than it was! I also bought a Granado cashew nut Shampoo that is one of my holly grails.

My only empty is a plain and good-enough deodorant. Not really trilled about this, but hey... i have A LOT of plain and boring deodorants on my stash so i guess that's a tiny win? Not sure.

Experiment627 · 16/07/2018 07:32

@PurpleNailVarnish London is once again an oven... last night was very hot!!! I am feeling ok - but I usually love the heat so my moaning about it is a tad unusual.
I made great decluttering strides this weekend - which is a great relief!

@Inthetropics any empty is a step forward!!!!

I am quite happy with my shampoo choice at the mo: Argan Oil shampoo and Almond Oil conditioner from Nutrifix (Poundland). But my hair has been much less greasy since being preggers.

Empty - a sample of kenzo flower. It took two uses to get rid. Wore it one day and wasn’t sure about it, and then the second day was absolutely definetly not sure about it. It doesn’t suit me. Far to flowery.

PurpleNailVarnish · 16/07/2018 10:26

You all probably know this already but I found out a thing I didn't know, courtesy of Cult Beauty's Instagram; retinol makes your skin more photosensitive, so you must use a strong sunscreen if you are using it or stop using it if you're going out in the sun.

Cities can be sweaty, you have my sympathies @Experiment627. I remember being pregnant during the summer every bloody time and it could be tough going.

Here's my weekly empties list:

  • Salon science cellutensive masque sample.
It was quite good, didn't inflame my rosacea.
  • Body Shop wild argan oil body cream.
This smelled good and I liked it but in the heat it sort of peeled off of my skin.
  • Heal Gel Intensive.
This is good stuff, I have a scar that I have to moisturise every day or it gets sore. This is good because it dries on skin so it forms a protective layer without making my clothes sticky with moisturiser but it's expensive so I don't use it all the time.
  • Benefit Puff Off instant eye gel.
This was one of those products I was determined to use up, I wasn't fussed by it. It's discontinued now.
  • Rodial Vit C brightening mask sample.
This is my favourite and I've already got a full size of this to use when my other mask samples are used up.
  • Schwarzkopf Gliss hair repair leave in conditioner.
I really like this, it came as a pack of two and I'm already using the second one. It's my favourite leave in conditioner so far.
  • Weleda relaxing lavender body oil 10 ml.
I bought a pack of 5 of these, they were all different and I preferred some of the others to this one.
  • Sarah Chapman skinesis overnight facial sample.
I really liked this and would consider buying it again but I prefer the REN night cream, this might be better in winter when skin needs extra moisture.
TeaAddict235 · 17/07/2018 16:34

@Inthetropics no not in South America but yes I have curly hair. I love my curly wurly thick hair. I live in mainland Europe and that Palmolive is the bees knees for my hair. I am always on the quest for the holy grail. That stash looks impressive! Very tempting.

PurpleNailVarnish · 17/07/2018 22:29

Ugh I'm looking for the hair holy grail too @TeaAddict235 although my hair is a different type from yours. I always wanted curly hair, I'm very envious.

I take a look at every hair product people use on this thread, including @Experiment627 's pound shop Argan stuff. Tbh I haven't found an expensive shampoo yet that is any better than cheaper shampoos but that could just be my hair type. I've got a Ouai shampoo and conditioner that I picked up on offer a while back, I'm saving it to take on holiday and some Rahua samples to take on our city break next week. I'll post my verdict when I've finished them.

To continue the conversation about hitting pan DD is home for a few weeks, she was doing her makeup today and she's well into the two Naked palettes she was using. I thought of you all and I was impressed though she's not aiming to finish anything

ThisIsHistory · 17/07/2018 23:32

Hello..had to change NN (email security thing so reregistered) used to be LapsedHumanist...

Never ever finish palettes. Sometimes finish one or two pans. I remember finishing one of those everlasting Bourjois domed shadows when I was a teenager and being really proud!

TeaAddict235 · 18/07/2018 06:50

Yes @PurpleNailVarnish, my heart races and I get all a bit too excited when I find new and affordable hair products. I'm sure that Poundworld is missing me.

With hitting pan, does it happen to you all often? I can't recall it ever really happening to me. Would you have to use the palette everyday, and be very generous with application?

PurpleNailVarnish · 18/07/2018 08:19

@TeaAddict235 in addition to the palettes I own and I have to stop myself buying more I buy single eyeshadows in paler colours to use as a base for my day makeup, those I do use up. I sometimes finish one colour in a palette but rarely the whole palette. I'm sure that Poundworld is missing me Grin

Hey @ThisIsHistory sending you my best.

ThisIsHistory · 18/07/2018 14:11

Hello @PurpleNailVarnish, hope you get on well with the Rahua. I ordered some travel sizes of their new Hydration version yesterday, just to try.

Some empties:

Faith in Nature Coconut Conditioner- really like this and have a couple of spare bottles in the stash already. I alternate Faith In Nature Hair stuff with Rahua to prevent build-up. Use this as the first condition in a Condition-Wash-Condition routine- I am trying to grow my hair long again and it’s something the ladies on the Long Hair Community Forum recommend. It is working- getting a lot less breakage and my hairdresser asked me what I’d changed.

Mother Dirt Face and Body Cleanser- this was ok as a body wash but too harsh as a face cleanser. I wouldn’t buy it again. Ended up using it to have my legs as it has one of those foaming dispenser pumps.

Superdrug Konjac Sponge- love this to remove cleanser, they make a difference to neck lines. Have about a year’s worth in the stash. Used to use Konjac Sponge Company ones, but these are much cheaper.

Have decided to keep a barely used palette around well past it’s use-by date, to remind me that I never use them up at all! I sometimes impulse buy one because I love one or two colours, then it barely gets touched.

I have a Pacifica one that I bought for the iridescent cream highlighters. Haven’t touched the shadows or blushers. There is a smoky metallic brown there that could be used as an eyeliner with a fine brush.

Does using up a shadow on a palette warrant buying an eyeliner brush?

PurpleNailVarnish · 18/07/2018 15:34

@ThisIsHistory just to check I've got this right you use the coconut conditioner first, on wet hair. Then shampoo as usual, then condition with Rahua?
If I've got that right then I'll try it using different brands.
If I remember correctly you've got similar hair to mine; long, straight, lots of it. So I'm grateful for any tips of yours because they're probably relevant to me.

I got excited for a minute there when you said yon Superdrug sponge removed necklines, until I realised that you meant makeup lines Confused

I've been a bit ill as of late and I've lost a lot of weight more than 15% of my body weight, more than I needed to lose for sure. My face is fine but my neck is looking a scrawny so a neck line remover sounded like a dream product.

ThisIsHistory · 18/07/2018 16:07

Hello @PurpleNailVarnish waves

That’s nearly it with the hair. One month I condition with Rahua, wash with Rahua, condition with Rahua. Next month I condition with Faith In Nature Coconut Conditioner, wash with FIN Coconut Shampoo and Condition with FIN Fragrance Free Conditioner (there was a long experiment involving various permutations of FIN Coconut, FIN Fragrance Free and FIN Aloe Vera).

Haven’t tried mixing cross brands yet, but I will! Experimenting at the moment with whether to condition to the roots or just the the canopy (and what mix of that across the first and second conditions). Sometimes the first condition is a hair mask or an oil soak.

I’m sorry you were ill Flowers. Good luck with the recovery.

And the sponge is helpful with proper neck creases (in the skin) not make-up lines. I’ve got those horizontal lines that sort of go round the neck. Doesn’t eradicate them totally, but does make them less visible. Sort of fainter/finer and blurred back into the skin.

Started using them about 18 months ago, saw a difference in a month or two. Gentle sweeping upwards motions with v damp sponge when I cleanse- do a few more upwards motions than I need to just to cleanse IYSWIM. I think the Konjac makes a difference as well as the motion/massage effect as have seen Konjac in a few serums/mists in a hyaluronic style role (Evolve has a serum with Konjac extract in I think, tried it but didn’t like it, too bouncy).

Got a Foreo a few months back and do the same thing with it once a day now too and that made an extra difference as well. Started with the tiny one and then got the full size one when I was satisfied it did work. Use it as a massager over my eyes as well and that’s made a noticeable difference with the fine lines at the corner of my eyes. I think the massage action shakes the muscles out of the habitual patterns that cause the wrinkles. Again, not elimination, but definite improvement, lines finer, less deep.

So much so I am stalking the Foreo eye massager on SpaceNK. I was thinking I would ask for one as a Xmas present. Going to have to sit on my hands to wait that long. Especially as whenever I go in my local one during the day and it’s quiet, the ladies are always off in the corner it’s displayed in using it and hurriedly put it back when they see someone’s come in.

Ahem. Want.

PurpleNailVarnish · 20/07/2018 00:23

Oooh @ememem84 that's gorgeous.
I want these but even though I've wanted the TooFaced palette for a while now I...must...not...buy...another...palette.
I've got a Lime Crime Diamond Crusher in Fluke and it is fantastic. I'd like the acid fairy shade too they're very shiny, it makes me feel like I'm in ABBA. I've trying to be frugal as I also want another car!

Thanks @ThisIsHistory I've ordered the Superdrug Konjac sponges and I tried conditioner-shampoo-conditioner today. I'll report back.
Thank you for the tips.

I've got an overnight hair conditioner on tonight, that seems to help too.
