Yes, shaped Ragged edges are not allowed!

I bought cheap sparkley jewllery for our Antiguan holiday from Claires Accessories! If you have understaed stuff, it doesn't matter if it's real or not IMO.

Wealthy American women are groomed, so will need to make sure you've got manicures, eyebrows plucked, etc. Pedicure absolutely essential with either French or bright colour.

For clothing, would concentrate on simple/elegant but with gorgeous accessories - beautiful wrap, statement type necklace, etc.

You know I am rubbish at links, but I'd scour the 'Texas Bible' for ideas - otherwise known as the Neiman Marcus online catalogue. Neiman's is the Texan version of Harvey Nicks.

Here's the web address, and hopefully someone more tech savvy can convert it to a link and help us find ideas for you.

www.neimanmarcus.com

Expat is from Texas way back, so she might have some useful suggestions. TBH, I'd think what you'll need won't be that much different to what the 'yummy mummy' exec wives would wear on an upmarket beach holiday...

Loose kaftan beach cover-up is what I'd go for rather than a sarong I think.

PeterAndreFanCLub · 05/05/2007 13:58

min skirt is kew so really not very racey

OP posts:
Tutter · 05/05/2007 13:58

oh yes and we just came back from hols

spent a lot of time wishing i had a wonderful linen/cheesecloth top (but not scruffy shirt) to throw on over swimsuit when too hot

PeterAndreFanCLub · 05/05/2007 13:58

agree sd dont do sarongs

AitchTwoOh · 05/05/2007 13:59

i would splash out on something really beautiful and englishy for the evening. matthew williamson-esque, not his slut-wear, the high end stuff.
no-one's saying that you should ape the texans i don't think. (god forbid). but americans are very clannish about fashion so for daytime i wouldn't personally stray too far from the cruisewear aesthetic. and you really need to find out if you'll all be participating in the events as that makes a HUGE difference to shoes etc. all that you've so far described sounds fine imho.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/05/2007 13:59

you're going to need a different swimsuit for every day.

thedogsbollox · 05/05/2007 13:59

Issymum is right- accentuate your Englishness

Laura Ashley look will be good.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2007 14:00

Still not convinced about the mini skirt. It's very difficult to do anything decorously in a mini skirt IME.

thedogsbollox · 05/05/2007 14:00

The important thing is that the 'standard' of dress is appropriate. As long as you get the code right you can wear whatever conforms to that code I think!
