SOTD is Ruth Mastenbroek Firedance from the Big Sniff- it’s a big hit with me and full bottle territory.

mrsreynolds · 11/03/2018 11:21

Obsession for me again today 😁

Geographytrainee · 11/03/2018 11:29

MrsG, no not vintage, it is settling down now but still quite sharp. Hmm

SoFancy · 11/03/2018 11:34

I’m snuggling up in Chopard Casmir.

Fosterdog123 · 11/03/2018 11:37

All morning, I've kept thinking, WHAT is that smell - is it me, have I got a bit of BO going on, if I have, it's very nice BO!! Then I realised that I'd tried a new perfume today. Aqua di Parma Colonia intensa oud. It smells like the armpit of the sexiest man in the world after a session at the gym. It's soooo unusual but by eck it's sexy!! I can't stop smelling myself!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 11/03/2018 12:03

Morning all. I forgot to tell dp and dd today was UK Mother's Day Grin They have gone over yonder to MIL's while I mark essays

Sotd is, on my left wrist PP 24 Faubourg and on my right, the real thing. Top notes are totally different- PP is much sweeter, but in grown up chypre way, not in PM way. While the real thing, on first sniff, has that straw-y Vent Vert thing going on, only briefly, but interestingly. Now they've settled and are much more similar and I love both. Sweet, sure, but oh so sophisticated.

Cheap- bless your gran, hope she gets better soon. Flowers

Pineapple- I'd go for La Fumee on that MH list because I love smokey perfumes.

Chloe- try this Byblos Cielo if you like Angel. Cheap as chips at £12 for 120ml. I would have it down as a dupe of Angel though real diehard Angel lovers reckon it's not that similar. I'd say perhaps it's slightly more wearable than Angel. It's the only perfume I have ever had comments about when I've worn it.

LibertyBlue · 11/03/2018 12:16

pineapple La Fumee and Etui Noir are both very good - LF is slightly more daring than EN as it’s very smokey. I wear Etui Noir much more than La Fumee as it’s less masculine/ more wearable & it layers really well.

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 11/03/2018 12:21

Morning perfumistas and Happy Mother's Day -

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 11/03/2018 12:54

Oh FFS. I'll try again Grin

Hope everyone is having a pleasant day, I know this can be a hard day for some, for lots of reasons. It's a little tricky here for DH for various reasons but he has a game face on and visited my mum with me which was nice especially as I offered him a pass Smile We don't really do cards or anything herebut my DC did get flowers and cake etc off their own bat which was sweet and DH organised a piece of jewellery on their behalf which was very lovely. I even had smiles from all the DC which is very rare indeed nowadays especially for the sulkiest teen ones Grin No doubt normal arguing/sulking etc will be resumed this afternoon!

Cheap I hope your gran is okay, definitely an honorary Perfumista (perfume is the very first thing I put in my hospital bag!) I gave my mum a manicure today and painted her nails as she's had a tough time recently and I think little things like that can be very cheering.

Very jealous happy for those with perfume presents, I always think realising the givers know your tastes etc is as lovely as receiving the perfume itself. I do hope everyone is having a pleasant and peaceful day.

Poor teta though, toothache is awful isn't it. I'm also on the painkillers as my shoulders and bloody toes are playing up now my finger's recovered. Also toes are my own fault (long story) so I'm even more grumpy. Good excuse to stay off my feet and eat choc Grin

Welcome welcome to newest cult members, I don't feel remotely qualified enough to dispense any advice today, as I was so distracted this morning I forgot the Big Sniff Blush and had already sprayed my PP Rue Faubourg (thank you PIAM for timely comparison, I've only also tried a sample of the real thing but thought the PP was close enough to be a contender for FB, absolutely love it) and didn't want to waste it. I will do it tomorrow. Ironically I haven't tried the RM one first like I did with all the others as I was so looking forward to it that I saved it Angry

Aubergine I felt happy just reading about your day out! It sounds wonderful It's interesting about staff isn't it, I once had the best chat with a staff member at one of the cheapy mainstream shops (Fragrance Shop? perfume Shop?) who was extremely knowledgeable and knew more than some of the staff in high end places (although to me, John Lewis is high end Grin)

God I've wittered on for ages! I've eaten about 50 Maltesers whilst typing this Blush

MrsGruber · 11/03/2018 13:08

GT - is it brand new? Sorry to go all Goldilocks on you but with Cabochard, pre 90s tends to be just right (they reformulated it after that to save money and it is a shadow of its former self). PM if you'd like me to send you some for comparison purposes. (Or if its a fresh smelling pre 90s bottle you just don't like, PM me if you'd like to explore possible swaps!).

MrsGruber · 11/03/2018 13:15

Get well soon. Teta and Cheap's Gran.

Tell us about Casmir Sofancy?

I'd go with La Fumee too.

UnnecessaryFennel · 11/03/2018 13:50

I'd probably go with Etui Noir from the MH list but I have sniffed La Fumee and really liked it - I just know EN better.

I have also been to TK Maxx today and didn't buy any perfume Shock. I did spend an awful lot on my growing-like-a-weed ds though.

My Mother's Day has so far consisted of all the usual Sunday morning chores, spending loads of money on other people, having a little weep at the crematorium, and eating a disappointing burger. Plus - perhaps worst of all - the Big Sniff being utterly vile on me. Ho hum.

I've given Imaginary Authors' Memoirs of a Trespasser a go though, which is a lovely spicy vanilla, a bit like a hipster Creamy Vanilla Crumble. So, that's nice.

MrsGruber · 11/03/2018 14:24

Chloe - if you want to try something a bit different, get 9mls of Centrepiece from 4160Tuesdays. Its a gourmand, like Angel, and may well appeal (although the first couple of mins smell challenging for some people). If I remember right, it's based on the smell of Fortnum and Mason's Ice Cream Parlour?

Ollivander84 · 11/03/2018 15:13

SOTD Le labo rose 31

SoFancy · 11/03/2018 15:17

Well we don’t do Mother’s Day presents in our family, but I got a homemade card and flowers and had a nice brunch with my mum. We’ve managed to sink a bottle of champagne between us, me and (as we say in my mum’s part of Ireland) Mudda Grin. She is now attempting to teach DD to knit. Let’s see how that goes...

MrsG Casmir is lovely but a fragrance I a) only ever wear at home and b) took a while to love. It’s sweet...if you don’t like sweet fragrances the sweetness and vanilla may be off putting. But I love it for the spice. It smells like Indian sweets to me. Very comforting and very good quality for a cheapie.

Ollivander84 · 11/03/2018 15:18

Probably should say I have two jobs, which makes my scent choices slightly... insane? Grin
I'm a care/support worker which calls for nice, inoffensive, not strong, and I try and go for comforting stuff, and if I know I'm going to the same person, I wear the same scent as I think it helps with recognition especially for people with dementia
Then I work for a luxury car brand and can wear what I like there! That's when I wear my stronger stuff

CountFosco · 11/03/2018 15:34

SotM was The Big Sniff and another big rose thst I didn't get on with. DH made pancakes for breakfast, then I went swimming with the kids (DD1 has been poorly lately so it was her first time in the pool and swimming lengths for a month which was great) and changed to Amber Mamba for my SotD then had lunch at the leisure centre so I am now full of food. Got to work now though and get a report written, very bad planning that! Kids are now watching The Sarah Jane Adventures which DS and DD2 are literally watching from behind the sofa Grin.

mrsreynolds · 11/03/2018 15:53

Dh is making dinner...lots of dishes being banged about!

Sotd is now sexiest scent

Yum yum

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/03/2018 15:56

SOTD is PP Amber Oud. Again haven't tried the source inspiration so I can't say how true to it is but the PP version is lovely.

SoFancy · 11/03/2018 17:20

I love that image of your two perfumed lives, Olivander! Grin

mrsreynolds · 11/03/2018 17:22

I can't wear my faves to work...too strong as I work with kids

I have to save opium/knowing for non work days :)

SoFancy · 11/03/2018 18:17

I wear my light florals and —pink minger— gourmands to work, as they teenagers I work with think I smell lovely Grin.

I save anything Big White Florals and anything remotely skanky for my personal life.

SoFancy · 11/03/2018 18:17

Excuse typos and strike through fails Sad

Ollivander84 · 11/03/2018 18:25

So Grin it is totally crazy. In the evening I might be holding someone's hand or brushing their teeth or cooking for them, and in the day I'm dealing with 100k cars. Two different worlds
Le labo rose is for tonight as one of my care clients loves it and smiles every time she smells it on me

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/03/2018 19:14

SOTD is CLinique Wrappings. Hope everyone has had lovely days. I find mother’s day really difficult because I am not a mum, and have a complicated relationship with my own mum. Today has been about tea, cake, a huge bath, and trash tv.
