ollivander, would you like my Eau de Protection sample? I like it but I don't luuuurve it and would be happy to send it to a more loving home. Although please do say if you're really after a FB, I won't be offended!

7e Sens is lasting wonderfully. I think this tiny wee bottle is pretty old (the juice has left a slight stain on my wrist Hmm) so there wasn't a lot in the top notes but the base is just lovely fuzzy oakmoss, amber, sandalwood and pants Grin

Ollivander84 · 09/03/2018 16:20

Unnecessary- YES!! Yes please! I have been using my sample very very sparingly as I love it so

positivepineapple · 09/03/2018 16:46

Thank you to the lovely one who recommended the Primark dupes - I can't remember who it was 🙈

I picked up a Rose & Oud and Amber Noir perfume and a Lime & Basil hand cream on my lunch. Had a little spritz of the rose in my office and one of colleagues walked in and commented how nice it was. Perfect cheapy for day time top ups Smile

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/03/2018 16:51

Hahaha, ok, pm me your address Grin

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/03/2018 16:57

floofy I did wonder if I should mention all the bottles on eBay etc but decided that felt a bit weird Grin

aubergines, don't forget to let us know what you sniffed today on your travels

I might scrub 302 and 7e Sens and see what else is lurking in the newbie acquisitions pile...

PerfumeIsAMessage · 09/03/2018 17:43

Floofy, you and I must be perfume twins, as AA and Obsession are the absolute scents of my youth. Well, my most fabulous bits of it anyway. I only have to smell AA and am teleported back to a grotty student bedroom in Spain and the love of my life. It's funny how it's my room it transports me back to, not the town, or the bars, or anything else, but my room. Obviously I must always have a bottle about my person because one day, I will see him again, and I will have to be wearing it, won't I? Grin

mrsreynolds · 09/03/2018 18:11

Sigh...
Now I'm on ebay trying to find vintage obsession!
😩😁

auberginesrus · 09/03/2018 19:26

So much to tell! But am currently on v busy train with limited battery and a flaky connection. Will have to wait until I get in front of a keyboard for a big long post. I smell gorgeous though Smile

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 09/03/2018 19:45

Ooh Aubergine so excited!! Get that battery charged soon!

PIAM aaah, skank. Of course!! Planned to retry tomorrow but a teeny eBay bottle of 24 Fauberg arrived so I might need to try that!!

SotD was Aleksandr. All I got was far- left it for half an hour then scrubbed as I spent the day interviewing and didn't think far would make the best impression...! Will have to try again when I've got the time to see how it develops without worrying if it doesn't develop. Only have Brocade Queen of spades left from the violet samples to try.

Replaced with 22. Nice.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 09/03/2018 19:45

Tar not far. Far isn't a smell.

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/03/2018 20:09

SOTE is Friedemodin Rosee de Nuit. Slightly embarrassed to admit that I assumed this would be a rose-based scent. It's violets, but definitely not the sweet, parma kind, plus woods and spices. It's quite green and almost sour, but there's a powderyness as well. Surprising projection.

Again, as with Papillon, am impressed by the quality of these scents; unusual and beautiful without feeling too try-hard.

Judydreamsofhorses · 09/03/2018 20:36

SOTD was JHAG Mad Madame, but now in a sample of the new Coco Mademoiselle.

So glad it’s Friday. Have lovely weekends, everyone.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 09/03/2018 20:47

Post bath am in PP Samsara. T'is divine. Now, I can't remember what real Samsara smells like, and this is sweet, but in a grown up chypre way. I can't stop sniffing myself. If I blind smelled this I'd think it was an old Estee Lauder (who I associate with grown up chypre-types) rather than a Guerlain (well, PP dupe!) But I adore it.

positivepineapple · 09/03/2018 21:31

SOTE is Another kiss by the fireside.

On first sniff I get almost overwhelming woodsmoke, very strong - I can't decide if I like it or not. It feels like it's going to overpower you & become a scrubber.

All of a sudden the lavender creeps in and takes the edge off, and then it makes me smile.

I can smell home-baked biscuits and rose potpourri, in a good way! The subtle clove is enough to tickle the memory bank and brings a warm Christmasy bliss feeling.

I feel like this might be a marmite 4120? What are people's opinions?

I don't think I could wear this out of the house but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Also, thinking of placing a bloom sample pack order tonight, I really like that you get a pure sample of the element in question in some of them. I'm thinking of getting the
ISO - e
Cashmeran
Benzoin
to start with. Advice gratefully received Smile

MrsGruber · 09/03/2018 21:59

Hi PP - I really like AKbtF. But I like The Lion Cuboard even more for lavender.

In terms of Bloom, my tastes tend to be on the darker, stickier end of things, so from your list, I'd go with Benzoin. The Greens and the Resins look interesting too, and if you can't decide, Around the World in 10 Raw Ingredients would be good for hedging bets? The Luca Turin Loves set is fabulous, but there are a couple of quite out there things included.

MrsGruber · 09/03/2018 22:01

SotD has been Feu Follet (again). 'Fraid this is beginning to look like true love.

LibertyBlue · 09/03/2018 22:14

4160 Sex Goddess today, work then funeral for my lovely boss Sad.

Glad it’s Friday - and Mother’s Day Smile

Interesting chat and funny banter which makes me smile on what has been a sad day.

My next bouquet of Bloom flowers arrived and so did the mum’s flowers- which they’re delighted with. I still have stems from the previous months bouquet in a smaller vase- what do they grow these flowers in that makes them last over a month? Amazing!

positivepineapple · 09/03/2018 22:26

MrsG The lions cupboard is on the extended 4160 list, hope I get to try this soon.
I think dark and sticky is my ultimate preference as well, I spent a lot of time looking at the resins - definitely up my street. I didn't see around the world in ten raw ingredients! That is definitely going in my basket Smile

Liberty I'm so sorry to hear that. Thanks

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/03/2018 22:30

Half price SOTW on 4160s is Rosa Ribes. Have a sample of this that I've not yet worn, so might give it a go tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your boss blue.

UnnecessaryFennel · 09/03/2018 22:31

pineapple, I wear Another Kiss often - it's wonderful. I love the mix of lavender and smoke.

MrsGruber · 09/03/2018 22:37

Was flicking through FB last night and there was one of those daft games...reach and grab the first book nearest to you, turn to page 45 and the first sentence sums up your life. " If Shalimar were a gemstone, bergamot, vanilla and civet would be the facets always hit by the light"

PiaM - Thanks for your monster post including the Annick Goutal samples info. Your FB game sounded fun - so I just tried it.

Guess what my sentence was...?

"If Shalimar were a gemstone, bergamot, vanilla and civet would be the facets always hit by the light".

I've got goosebumps. Shock

auberginesrus · 09/03/2018 23:25

Evening all - I am safely home, have seen the youngest to bed and am well on with the Gin

Firstly - sorry to hear about your sad day Blue Flowers

Have had a lovely day in the big smoke, although unsurprisingly I have broken my no more spending in March rule. Had a good meeting, then I headed to Bloom. I need to say that if I hadn't got some confidence from this thread it would be the sort of shop I would have longingly looked at from the outside and not dared to enter, but it was fab. I was the only customer when I got in there. I'd gone prepared with a list of things I wanted to sniff and the lovely assistant just took my note book off me and sorted it all out! I sniffed:
ELD'O
Jasmine et cigarette - loved
Like This - less keen than I expected
You or Someone Like you - smelt like a Pukka tea 3 mint teabag Smile
Zoologist:
Bat- actually made me laugh out loud, it smells just like the bat cave at Chester Zoo. So clever but not something I would want to go round smelling like
Elephant - liked, woody and green with animalic notes
Panda - fresh and green, not sure I could wear
Dragonfly - loved - floral and could really smell the rice

I also sniffed the Bon Parfumer 302 that Fennel bought, lovely but a bit too spicy for me, and a couple of the Pierre Guillame Iris scents.

Had a lovely discussion about 4160 Tuesday's with the sales assistant, and because I said I liked Sexiest Scent she brought me some vero perfumo Naja to try which was lush - leathery but quite light for a leather.

Also tried Aphrodisia and Fortune by Brocard - both lovely but Aphrodisia just pipped so I bought a FB of that for the princely sum of £26, and got samples of Naja, Jasmine et Cigarette and Dragonfly for free.

Whilst I was in there a man came in with a scent his wife had bought him many years ago in Israel. Cue lots of sniffing by both sales assistants and getting him to try things that were nearly but not quite right. Then they hit on a Brocade scent which would have been £18 for a full bottle but was out of stock and they agreed to sell him the remainder of the tester for £8. When I left he was happily trying other (more expensive scents) with a view to buying. What a great shop!

Popped into Miller Harris too, and had a good sniff of a few. Ended up getting a tester pack, and the nice lady dropped in a free sample of Cedre which I had tried and really liked.

Popped into the British Museum on my way back to Euston, and had a wander round their Charmed Lives in Greece exhibition which I'd heard discussed on R4's Front Row earlier in the week - it was fab, can highly recommend if you can get there and you're an art fan. I'm aware this makes me seem more cultured that I actually am!

Managed to bag a seat on a very crowded train back up North and made friends with a lovely long haired Dachshund called Monty Grin

auberginesrus · 09/03/2018 23:33

And trying to ignore the fact that Rosa RIbes is SOTW

LibertyBlue · 09/03/2018 23:53

What a wonderful day you’ve had aubergine

Ooh spooky mrsgruber

Thanks everyone for Flowers

LibertyBlue · 09/03/2018 23:54

And so pleased to hear you had a good experience of Bloom and they have perfumes within everyone’s reach. Definitely planning a visit. Is it near MH in Covent Garden?
