Evening all - I am safely home, have seen the youngest to bed and am well on with the
Firstly - sorry to hear about your sad day Blue
Have had a lovely day in the big smoke, although unsurprisingly I have broken my no more spending in March rule. Had a good meeting, then I headed to Bloom. I need to say that if I hadn't got some confidence from this thread it would be the sort of shop I would have longingly looked at from the outside and not dared to enter, but it was fab. I was the only customer when I got in there. I'd gone prepared with a list of things I wanted to sniff and the lovely assistant just took my note book off me and sorted it all out! I sniffed:
ELD'O
Jasmine et cigarette - loved
Like This - less keen than I expected
You or Someone Like you - smelt like a Pukka tea 3 mint teabag
Zoologist:
Bat- actually made me laugh out loud, it smells just like the bat cave at Chester Zoo. So clever but not something I would want to go round smelling like
Elephant - liked, woody and green with animalic notes
Panda - fresh and green, not sure I could wear
Dragonfly - loved - floral and could really smell the rice
I also sniffed the Bon Parfumer 302 that Fennel bought, lovely but a bit too spicy for me, and a couple of the Pierre Guillame Iris scents.
Had a lovely discussion about 4160 Tuesday's with the sales assistant, and because I said I liked Sexiest Scent she brought me some vero perfumo Naja to try which was lush - leathery but quite light for a leather.
Also tried Aphrodisia and Fortune by Brocard - both lovely but Aphrodisia just pipped so I bought a FB of that for the princely sum of £26, and got samples of Naja, Jasmine et Cigarette and Dragonfly for free.
Whilst I was in there a man came in with a scent his wife had bought him many years ago in Israel. Cue lots of sniffing by both sales assistants and getting him to try things that were nearly but not quite right. Then they hit on a Brocade scent which would have been £18 for a full bottle but was out of stock and they agreed to sell him the remainder of the tester for £8. When I left he was happily trying other (more expensive scents) with a view to buying. What a great shop!
Popped into Miller Harris too, and had a good sniff of a few. Ended up getting a tester pack, and the nice lady dropped in a free sample of Cedre which I had tried and really liked.
Popped into the British Museum on my way back to Euston, and had a wander round their Charmed Lives in Greece exhibition which I'd heard discussed on R4's Front Row earlier in the week - it was fab, can highly recommend if you can get there and you're an art fan. I'm aware this makes me seem more cultured that I actually am!
Managed to bag a seat on a very crowded train back up North and made friends with a lovely long haired Dachshund called Monty
