Oh God.. jelly bags and jelly shoes!! And anyone remember those plastic shoes that looked like cutaway white plimsolls...? I adored mine; thought I was sooo trendy (I wasn't; we were poor!).. but one got washed away in the sea at Sheerness beach! I was distraught!

And looked damn stupid catching the train home in one shoe!

lol gosh they were a big thing knitting machines what about pixie boots

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/05/2007 23:01

I still grieve for that shoe Strawberry, I tell ya! The shoes were dire actually.. but the loss is still fresh in my mind! I tried wading out for it.. but my friends ran to a phone box and said they were going to call a coast guard; and I was so bloody law abiding!

Just remembered you had to have a carrier bag with the top part rolled down inside your jelly bag didn't you! And carrier bags on their own were deemed ok if you rolled them down and held them by the rolled down bit..

How... darned odd we were!!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/05/2007 23:02

My bat wing was reversible. It white and black. My friend had the same in white and red.

Nikki76 · 03/05/2007 23:02

pickledpear · 03/05/2007 23:03

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2007 23:06

Please could someone remind me of what this bag is called

They were rectangular quite narrow they had a clear plastic covering on outside but were sort of slightly soft inside

BUT they had a picture of a little girl on both sides of the bag

she had bunches and a flowery dress with lots of flowers around her

Please can someone help me find a photo

from about 1977 - 1985

Thanks

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/05/2007 23:06

There's a link to current jelly bags somewhere below Sally..

And legwarmers are so back, Whoosh!!

I can't get over the fact that leggings are back, even though I've got some. When I wear them I keep expecting something to point and laugh and say "Ha! Stuck in the eighties-woman!!"

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 03/05/2007 23:07

Ah RTKM... those square bags? With skinny handles that wouldn't take the weight of your school books and used to break???
