yes around then

am embarrassed to report that i still think twice before extracting a carrier bag from the bag drawer

if it's for dh/someone else, any ocado shite will do

for me i keep the posh ones

PetronellaPinkPants · 03/05/2007 14:04

those plastic fiorucci bags were all the rage at our school

PetronellaPinkPants · 03/05/2007 14:06

can't find one how annoying

They were plastic strips in a sort of criss cross pattern with a handle and had fiorucci badge on the middle

PenelopePitstops · 03/05/2007 14:07

jane norman was the dogs bollox about 3 years ago in birmingham, still is prety good.

River island or republic are also 'good' bags. I have to save 'good' bags for my sisters pe kit!

and now primark paper bags apparently!

Tutter · 03/05/2007 14:07

petronella i think you're describing the plastic jelly basket bags of my ealier post?

PenelopePitstops · 03/05/2007 14:08

and old topshop bags about 5 years ago, plain white strong plastic with topshop written on it.

Lullabyloo · 03/05/2007 14:08

Chelsea Girl

PetronellaPinkPants · 03/05/2007 14:09

ah is that what they were called
yes I vaguely remember now...

Nbg · 03/05/2007 14:10

I think it was Topshop but if turned up with River Island or Next then you were the bees knees, lol.
There was also a shop called Ark (still going I think) and they did they posh clear shoulder bag with string handles.

MadamePlatypus · 03/05/2007 14:10

A bag from 'way-in' at Harrods or the trendy fashion shop that used to be at the bottom of Harvey Nicks.

Lullabyloo · 03/05/2007 14:10

I had a Harrods one...

MadamePlatypus · 03/05/2007 14:11

And Hobbs - this was 1989 and it was quite cool to have a little jacket from Hobbs to wear over your 501's.

PenelopePitstops · 03/05/2007 14:20

ooh forgot if you were a boy, or a tomboy you had a JD bag, the drawstring one and you used to buy the cheapest thing in JD just to get one!!

Next bags were mega uncool in our school, not really sure why.

Office the shoe shop bags were also very cool but extremely rare.

southeastastra · 03/05/2007 14:22

laura ashley see through ones for a bit, flip here as well loved that shop

DeviousDaffodil · 03/05/2007 14:22

Never took carrier bags to school. I ad an army surplus satchel type bag which I graffited with fave bands names.

oliveoil · 03/05/2007 14:25

I used to work in Benetton and we were supposed to charge for those bags as loads of kids would come in and ask for them and not buy anything

I was usually off my face though from the night before and just handed them out willy nilly

GameGirly · 03/05/2007 14:25

Didn't do bags. Boarding school, so we just lugged piles of books from one room to another.

FrannyandZooey · 03/05/2007 14:27

Yes DD I thought everyone had a canvas satchel with The Cure biroed on it

or Kajagoogoo if you want to go back a few more years

I'd get really excited by any very occasional visit to one of the trendy shops only to stand agog at the till when the snobby assistant would put my bargain finds into one of their "sale" bags. As if I needed the WHOLE world that I couldn't afford their full price stuff... Was scarred for life

PeterAndreFanCLub · 03/05/2007 14:44
