Number 81! The days are getting longer, and we're looking forward to shedding a few layers for Spring, while remaining stylish of course. If you love talking fashion and new buys, come on in, all welcome! Gin Wine Brew

Thanks all - I think it is the shock of being back at school. And some girls she played with during the first break then told her they wanted to talk amongst themselves in the second break as they have known each other longer so she spent that break alone and it upset her. DH spoke to her teacher this morning and asked her to help DD identify the other new kids (there are 5 children new to the school in the class).

That is a really pretty dress everyone but at that price level you'd probably get silk on the Outnet.

Shop thinking of you and your DF Flowers

One you sound chirpier - keep taking it easy though.

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2018 20:45

How was her second day Lib?

Shop Flowers

maradesbois · 31/01/2018 22:34

Hello,

How was day 2 lib? I don’t know your dd but from our chats she seems a lot like my ds, super confident and chatty, always happy to go to school and completely at ease with their peer group but never really had to experience the unknown of being on the outside of an already established group, being on the back foot and having to work at integrating themselves. Think the school has to step up to help out so that she can feel at ease quickly. Our school has a v international intake with lots of mid year leavers and joiners. For the latter the teacher makes a big effort to pair up the new child with one or two kids in the class who are responsible for introducing them to the school which the kids love. Ds is funny about playing with girls at the moment but said I must invite the new girl to his birthday party as ‘she’s left her friends behind and we all need to be her new ones, its important’!! Am sure she’ll find her stride in no time.

How about Saturday 4th March for mu? Think that’s the only one I can do before Easter.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 31/01/2018 22:44

I definitely cant do the 4th of march unfortunately but there'll always be another MU if thats the chosen date Smile

confirmed by the doctor that i DO have flu so no wonder i feel so awful. Have spent a lot of time asleep and still feel dizzy if i move too much so trying to stay either sat down or laid down to combat it as much as i can Sad

Hope DD's 2nd day has been better lib

libertyonhertravels · 01/02/2018 03:16

Flu is awful One. You poor thing.

Mara you have it spot on that she's very chatty and confident but having to break into an established group is new territory. How lovely of your DS to invite the new girl to his party. Second day was 'good' and I've just picked her up from day 3 which was 'brilliant' Smile. There has been a heatwave in NZ and it's broken today with tropical storms so there has been heavy rain all day and they had to stay in for break time and play organised games in the classroom which seems to have helped her talk to more people. The parents at pick up time are all very friendly and there is a class picnic next week for parents, kids and the teacher so will hopefully get chatting to people then.

Shop thinking about you.

I'm putting together a 'maybe' list for when I can spend again.

What do you all think of this Juliet Dunn shirtdress?

Also, I've noticed that the very cool peeps are wearing furry slides! I really couldn't but am drawn to these velvet ones. What thinks the Voguette crew - one season wonder or essential?

DryWhiteagainW · 01/02/2018 06:56

Liberty good news about DD.
Furry slides seem a contradiction to me.......went on hot holiday with family friends last year and their teenaged DD wore some, I was Hmm “in this heat?”.....

DryWhiteagainW · 01/02/2018 06:59

I’m surviving my week with no phone, just having to be more organised and less spontaneous re lifts etc, quite nice. It’s making me aware of how often we sit with people who aren’t really talking to us or concentrating at all....but sad really.

shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 08:08

Furry slides = Kardashian territory in my book sorry.
Thanks for all the thoughts. Keep sending positive vibes please.
No style news but am reading an excellent book which I thought some of you might be interested in:
Four pillars

libertyonhertravels · 01/02/2018 09:59

See the people I have seen wearing them are definitely not Kardashian which is why I wondered if I am missing out on something - bear in mind I am always late to things Grin. But like you Dry I think they seem all wrong in the heat, remind me of slippers. DH says it's like when the Uggs craze took off - people had worn them for years as house shoes/slippers in NZ and Aus and he just couldn't understand why people in the UK wore them outdoors.

Looks like a good book Shop. Have added to my wishlist. I have also banned myself from buying new books until I'm working.

MarshaBradyo · 01/02/2018 16:02

These arrived, very good for £94

libertyonhertravels · 01/02/2018 18:07

Great price Marsha.

maradesbois · 01/02/2018 18:33

Evening,

Shop hope your df is improving.

Lib great to hear that dd is settling in, it sounds like a very friendly environment generally, picnic will be great for you and dh to get to know people too. The dress you linked should in theory be my sort of thing but am a bit meh about it, can’t put my finger on why. I like the shoes for a fun extra, would wear them in London spring/summer with cropped jeans but not somewhere properly hot. Had to talk myself out of this pair in nap sale, sold out in my size now anyway and I have enough velvet things!

Dry yes you’re right that we rely on our screens too much and it is making us rude. Often on the tube people in priority seats neglect to give up for the elderly or pregnant women not because they are inconsiderate but just distracted by their screen. It is somehow more all-consuming than the written word. An enforced break sounds quite nice.

Marsha bargain! Top sale find indeed.

So regarding mu I can’t actually do 4th March but how about Sat 17th? One hope that you will be able to join, sending you recovery vibes and BrewFlowers

shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 19:12

Unlikely that I can do 17th March as MrShop is travellinga lot that month but keep me updated - I’d love to see you all
Marsha glad they were good. Such a good price.
I had a result in M&S clearance today. Picked up these silver boots for less than £7! Real leather. The silver is quite dull so they look good with rolled up jeans. So comfortable. Made me smile after a tough few days.
Hoping DF will be discharged tomorrow all being well.
I saw some flat form brogues in M&S that I thought Fedup and / or Stokey among others could rock. Will try and link.

shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 19:13

Flatforms

FedupNagging · 01/02/2018 19:15

Shop I'm sorry to hear your df is unwell again. Sending positive vibes your way.

Brilliant bargain Marsha

Everyone that is a very pretty dress from Boden but am Shock at the price for poly

Blair saw this maternity dress and thought of you

One hope you're starting to feel better.

I definitely can't do 17th March for the MU - am already in London and unlikely I'll be able to swing by.

FedupNagging · 01/02/2018 19:17

Shop I'm currently dithering over those flatforms (have been for a while) I thought I'd seen them in silver which would be perfect for spring but maybe I dreamt that!

did you speak to your hairdresser about going grey?

shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 19:32

They come in a lighter colour way. Click on the colour choice boxes on the link. It’s like a nude.
Size down though. I tried a 6.5 and i’m usually a 7-7.5.
I can’t see the boots I bought online sompic attached.
Hair will go shorter and lighter as we head into summer I think. Will see how it feels.

Mumsnet Vogue Vol. 81
shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 19:34

They have silver brogues instore too....

Dreamqueen · 01/02/2018 19:35

Shop hope DF is on the mend soon.

Blair thank you for your Sam Edelman advice. Hope you're enjoying your pregnancy.

Lib hope school settles down for your DD. I like those velvet slides but wouldn't want to pay more than High St price for something that may be well out of style next year.

One sorry to hear that you are unwell.

I also cannot do either 4 or 17 March. I will be away until the end of March.

At the moment i am helping a friend do homecare for his dying sister. Only doing a few shifts a week but it is incredibly exhausting, mostly mental. I am full of admiration for people who do it day after day. Sorry for going off S&B topic but just returned from a shift.

I love those trainers Marsha

Low spend 2018 is going well so far. I bought a couple of cheap bikini from Matalan for upcoming holiday. I don't like spending big on swimwear because imo expensive bikinis dont last any longer than cheap stuff. (could be me though).

Vey stupidly (drunk) I've invited 10 of my family for lunch on Saturday. Tomorrow will be spent tidying up and menu planning.

shopafrolic · 01/02/2018 19:48

Silver brogue
A few bloggers have been wearing these but all the pics are too down. I don’t like the brown sole and heel personally.

Merriboo · 02/02/2018 08:29

Thank you so much for all the responses, just to let you know, im mad about the boy 😍 he is a beauty and has found his forever home 🤗

Merriboo · 02/02/2018 08:32

one get well soon. This flu is nasty

libertyonhertravels · 02/02/2018 10:41

Fantastic merriboo. Wishing you health to wear your new love!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/02/2018 11:04

Yay Merriboo, glad you love it.

Thanks Fedup that's gone straight on my to buy list. I still haven't bought anything Hmm my problem at the moment is some trousers fit in the morning but feel uncomfortable by lunchtime!

I can do 17th March :)

Shop hope your DF will be home in time for the weekend.

Dream that sounds so hard, how lovely of you to help your friend out at this sad time. Hope the family lunch goes well.

Our bathroom refit is finally starting next week, so this weekend will be spent clearing out all our stuff. I'm also going to put away my clothes that definitely don't fit, like high waisted skirts and jeans.

Random question - I have to work in London next week for the first time this year - does anyone know where I can get a bump on board badge? Grin Really want one for some reason haha.

Stokey · 02/02/2018 13:05

Congratulations Blair, such exciting news. I think TFL supply them, you may need to email them to get one.

I've been so out of touch, missing all the babies - Bernice too?

For my first, I didn't need maternity wear til about 20-22 weeks Blair so really not worth splurging much. I actually got quite a few Seraphine & IO things on eBay, they tend to be in great condition and a fraction of the price. I also rated H&M maternity wear - cheap & cheerful.

March is not looking good for me - kids are doing a community play and performance weekend is 17-18. I may be able to pop down in the evening if people are still around.

I finally managed to buy a workhorse bag - this Marc Jacobs one. It's very handy if not the most exciting.

I've also acquired a couple of pairs of wide trousers lately - some <a class="break-all" href="https://www.stories.com/gb/Ready-to-wear/Bottoms/Trousers/Wide_Corduroy_Trousers/114066450-0460034www.monnierfreres.co.uk/Recruit-Hobo-bag-JAC006051-uk.html?___store=unitedkingdom_en&LGWCODE=JAC006051;95319;2018&utm_source=GoogleShoppingUK&utm_term=JAC006051&utm_medium=FW16flux&utm_campaign=Marc%20Jacobs&gclid=CjwKCAiAtdDTBRArEiwAPT4y-5sjdxzzN4xaI8_zM_0A5dQRpLskEsNqlm49rqf04kw9ztz3nc5DSRoCEykQAvD_BwE#" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">blue cords from &OS & some bargain basement pleated purple Zara ones - I resisted the matching top!

I'm wearing them today (wfh) with a black cashmere v-neck & white stans.

Big love to you all -.Will try & do better at keeping up - although not sure if I'll make it!
