So many posts I can't catch up.
Dad back in hospital - a traumatic couple of days involving a lot of blood :(
He's stable now. But I'm v tired
QueenC I rate Charlotte T lipsticks so I may not be much help but I love Chanel, Laura Mercier, and By Terry. Some Mac are fine but some are v drying. I think it depends on colour and consistency.
I finally wore my pink RL silk shirt last night having bought it AGES ago. Went out for dinner with friends. Paired it with Joseph leather skinnies and my LKB shoe boots, and McQueen clutch with the flowers and cigarette butts. Grin

In other news our village has a Rocks Facebook page. Kids are painting rocks and hiding them around the village. So much fun. Loads of info on the internet. Well worth setting up in your area. The local kids are loving it and it was the easiest way to get miniShop out in the fresh air for over an hour with no moaning.

shopafrolic · 25/02/2018 18:23

Looks like Bristol are on it already

Longislandicetee · 25/02/2018 19:43

Big hug Shop. Are you going to go on that date with me btw?. Wink.

MarshaBradyo · 26/02/2018 08:21

I still love snow. So pretty!

MarshaBradyo · 26/02/2018 08:22

Shop

MarshaBradyo · 26/02/2018 08:23

QueenC lovely things

Blingy such a lovely dress you should get it

Everyone very nice

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2018 09:54

For staying power, you want Mac Retro Matte. Use the matching lip liner all over the lip then go over with the lipstick. It will not budge all day, whatever you do. Learned that trick on the set of Countdown! However, they are VERY drying, but anything with staying power is.

Also good for staying power are NYX liquid lipsticks and Sephora cream lip stain (think they ship to UK now). Also good are Bobbi Brown art sticks.

Any creamy lipstick will give the old lady effect of wearing off in the centre and leaving that ring of colour. I hate that too!

So basically it's a toss up between staying power and dry lips or something more moisturising but repeat application.

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2018 09:57

Also, Charlotte Tilbury KISSING lipsticks have no staying power, Matte revolution and hot lips are much better and less drying than many.

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2018 10:01

I'm so bored of my outfits now. It's just cashmere jumpers and jeans. So glad I have my bright coats to jazz them up or I'd have died of boredom.

I thought Hope was on the horizon when I was able to wear just a blazer to work last week, but that turned out to be premature. I cannot WAIT to bare my wrists and ankles. I've got my eye on a pair of £££ sandals but it feels like an impossibility that they'll ever be worn at the moment!

maradesbois · 26/02/2018 11:22

Morning Voguettes,

Gorgeous snowfall this morning, has stopped already though here. Gutted that I left my snow boots behind with dh’s family after skiing to cut down on baggage, could’ve really done with them during this cold spell.

Wishing I had cashmere loungewear like Amber and Everyone, regret not buying the white co. onesie when they still had it in my size in the Christmas sale. Btw what was wrong with the Chinti and Parker cashmere Everyone? Just curious as never bought from them so have no idea about the quality. Agree that white co cashmere is really good though.

Marsha your house decorating project sounds exciting, will be coming to you for advice when we finally buy something.

Dry how did dd do your makeup? Is it just that it is different to what you are used to? Fwiw I never noticed you looking heavily made up so whatever you do normally is good. Am envious of those who are good at makeup, I am not but also not very interested. Probably should be as think it can be transforming, some of the 20 something girls I was working with could fake perfect skin in 5 mins. Am just back from a few days in Paris where this kind of ‘natural’ look still reigns supreme, sometimes with a bold lip but complete antithesis of the Kardashian type facetuned look that is all over insta (thank god).

Didn’t take much notice of Parisian style as everyone was super wrapped up to beat the icy cold. Following a very low spend new year so far I splashed out and came home with this APC Liberty print dress. The cotton is thick and brushed so winter weight. Will wear with opaques and Stuart W suede knee boots.

Lib fingers crossed for you on the job front.

Ooh it has just started snowing again in the time it took me to write this post!

maradesbois · 26/02/2018 12:09

Also thank you Fedup for the beautiful Erdem dress you linked for me . Regarding the espadrilles you linked I don’t like the elastic or the shape of the crossover bit but agree heel height is good. I think espadrilles should be classic slip on or tie, no buckles etc.

QueenC counselling sounds good and positive step. Glad you returned everything that wasn’t perfect, think the gold zip on dress would have annoyed the hell out of you. GD blouse looks perfect, textbook QueenC Smile

QueenCapri · 26/02/2018 13:23

Yes amber, that’s exactly what it it-the colour ring round the edge. I’m rubbish at reapplying lipstick so I either need something that stays or something that disappears completely. My lips are prone to dryness so I’ll probably give Mac a miss but will look at Chanel, LM and B.B. also remembered I have a Dior one that I love so will check out other colours in that.

mara love that something is textbook queen! Love your dress-I love liberty prints.

No style here today. Stuck at home with a pukey dd.

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/02/2018 15:03

Sorry to hear about your DF shop but glad to hear that he is Stable now. Flowers. Going out outfit sounds great.

Love the print of that dress mara, so spring like. The C&P joggers were huge, in retrospect I should have just returned them but thought they would be ok if I pulled the string tight. There was no elastic in the waist band, they just pulled tight with a thin string, which was pretty annoying. Then the string snapped the other day, so I will have to try and rethread the string. Also I had to send 2 jumpers back that were faulty and they take forever to refund you. So it has really put me off from ordering from them again, especially given the price of their items.

Sounds like you are making good progress with the house marsha.

I hear you amber on winter outfits. At least you have some variety of coats! I’m just wearing my regatta parka all the time!

I saw this sparkley bangle online which I really like. I seem to have a lot of summer dresses with pink in which this would look good with. I also ordered this leopard print scarf as I have fancied something leopard print for a while but just haven’t found the right thing and thought this would look good with an all black outfit, black and cream etc . Hopefully accessories will help liven up some of my winter outfits.

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2018 15:37

I love my cashmere onesie. I also have a topshop boutique cashmere tracksuit, which is divine. Might put that on now, actually!

DryWhiteagainW · 26/02/2018 17:47

Mara thNks for saying that about my makeup. I think she used less eyeliner than I'm used to which made me look tired. She was very good at applying base and highlighter was a revelation, I'll be investing in some.
The "old lady" lip line is a thing I hate but unavoidable a lot of the time, drives me nuts.
Cold, cold, cold here too.

Longislandicetee · 26/02/2018 21:52

Mara love that APC dress. Very you and think you will look lovely.

Everyone, love both the bangle and the scarf. It sot of reminds me of the McQueen one that Kitty has, which i have lusted after for a while.

OOTD was layers, layers and omg even more layers..... I wore a black Me&Em layering top as thermal underwear beneath a pink striped shirt, with a grey Austin Reed wool trouser suit. I also wore knee high tights under the suit and socks over that before putting on my boots. A burberry wool coat, cashmere snood, Trespass sparkly ski bobble hat and huge Top Shop wooly mittens completed the outfit. Oh and my Mulberry Roxanne bag.Grin

Speaking of bags, it's the first time in ages that i have used a different work bag. I have been attached to my favourite, the Balenciaga Giant City for months. At the weekend, I did break out a "new" bag, my suede PS1 satchel bag, which has been sat around for ages. I haven't had bag lust for ages, but there is a thread with Coach bags on there, and i am a little in lust. I also quite fancy a messenger type bag, as i have decided that they are quite useful. Is this a reawakening? It's the first time in about 2 years that i have had bag lust.....!Grin

FedupNagging · 26/02/2018 23:06

Yay Blingy you have mojo back!

Shop sorry to,hear about your df, so stressful for you all. I love the painted stone project; I found one in the planter outside work a few weeks ago and have been wondering who/how/why it got there so that's maybe my answer. It makes me smile every time I see it.

I had my passport photos done today and I look so old. Whilst my skin is pale atm, it's fairly clear but I have developed jowels which look just awful and my eye make up looked completely unflattering. I'm not particularly vain but this has bothered me all day.

So, hairdresser booked for next week, and am hoping to shoehorn in a trip to JL or Space NK later this week for some advice. I need new foundation so will start there.

libertyonhertravels · 27/02/2018 09:47

Need to catch up…
Blingy great laser cut bag and laughed a lot at the saw = bought comment. IMO it would be a travesty if you didn’t buy that botanical patterned McQueen dress – it would look amazing on you.

QueenC I am late to the discussion but I love By Terry lipstick. It does need to be reapplied during the day though but I prefer that to having dry lips.

Beautiful Gerard Darel blouse QueenC. Anything GD I have ever bought I have worn to death.

Dry I have never noticed you having heavy makeup. Your DD’s age group generally are flipping amazing at makeup – I never failed to be amazed at the way my sister can transform herself. One of these days I must sit down for an hour or two with u-tube videos and teach myself a few new tricks. Speaking of makeup, I am using Laura Mercier Candleglow foundation and powder atm and damn, it is GOOD.

Gorgeous APC dress Mara. Thanks for the good wishes on the job front. I had an interview for the out of Auckland job today and I'm pleased with how it went. Will find out by the end of week if I was successful or not.

Everyone I am liking your cosy vibe with all the cashmere and the snuggly slippers. Feeling very tempted to get some cashmere lounge pants for winter here.

Blingy the bag thread has made me lust after a Coach bag too – particularly this Hobo bag in Ivy.

Fedup I loved the Prada dress you linked for me. Really fantastic. Do not judge yourself by a passport photo Flowers. Those kind of pictures are awful. You should see the one that was taken for my NZ visa, truly terrible – I joked with the person that they must be trying to capture how you look after a 24 hour flight so that border control folk don’t get confused Grin.

Big waves and hugs to everybody.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/02/2018 10:58

Don't be so harsh on yourself Fedup I'm sure you look lovely, everyone knows passport photos are designed to be as unflattering as possible! (Always nice to go to hairdresser and have new makeup though to be fair)

Lib glad the interview went well, hope you get good news later in the week.

Love hearing about all your cold weather outfits. Speaking of mojo, I can feel mine slipping away day by day Hmm. I have very few things that fit me right now! I'm big in the bump but have only put on 4 pounds since Christmas - not sure how that works. I need to bite the bullet and get a couple of maternity work dresses to see me through. It's alright for bloggers who go on about wearing non maternity clothes for as long as possible - you can't do that with an office job!

Sorry for me me me post Blush will do proper post later.

OP posts:
QueenCapri · 27/02/2018 12:19

blair I always wonder that about bloggers. I definitely needed maternity wear. And they buy bigger sizes so I don’t see the difference really. If you can afford it it’s worth buying things especially if you plan anymore.
fedup passport photos are evil
dry I echo others and have never noticed your makeup looking heavy or aging. I do find as I get older though less is definitely more on me. And I e never worn much anyway.

I love coach bags. Think I have about 4 if them and I’m always lusting after more.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/02/2018 12:41

Dry I have never noticed your make up being heavy or bad in any way, you get it just right IMHO in terms of how much you wear. Maybe a colour refresh for some things might be nice though?

I'm so so cold!! I'm in my big fleece onesie and still cold. No cashmere here because I know i'd destroy it in a matter of weeks, i'm quite hard on that sort of thing tbh

fedup please don't judge yourself on a passport photo, they are ALL awful. On mine I look like someones just farted under my nose, i'm all double chins and scowls haha.

lib fingers crossed about the job

blair i needed maternity wear, or at least much bigger sizes, before iw as even 12 weeks gone. I'm not sure bloggers are totally truthful about staying in the exact same clothes right through

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/02/2018 13:16

I agree with the others fedup, passport photos are not a true reflection of how we look, but as blair says, it’s still nice to get a little make over / new advice.

blair I needed maternity stuff too. One of my SILs didn’t buy much because her usual style was leggings / jeggings and layered tops so she kind of got away with wearing her usual style. I just saw being pregnant as an opportunity to buy more stuff! Grin. My other SIL got some really nice stuff from ASOS.

Fingers crossed on the job front lib, did you like the sound of the out of Auckland one?

Glad to hear you are getting your mojo back blingy Smile.

Annoyingly after dithering for ages about whether to order those slippers and when I finally did, a few days later there was a bloody 15% off slippers on the website. Honestly, I swear every time I order something after waiting for ages, within days there will be a discount. Soooooooo annoying.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/02/2018 13:49

Thanks QueenC and One - yes, only buying normal clothes in a larger size or oversized style just seems a bit try hard to me, like you just want to be able to say you fit into normal clothes Blush. I would never wear those things again as all my usual clothes are fairly fitted, so it would be a false economy for me.

I am wearing my Baukjen ruched skirt a lot at the moment so thanks Bernice for predicting how useful it would be!

Lots of hot drinks for you One! I wish spring would hurry up and get here.

Mara love the APC dress and especially the styling ideas for winter.

Really like that Swarovski bangle everyone and also the matching ring too (but not together haha).

shop sorry to hear about your DF and glad he is now stable. Flowers

Does anyone have any Wyse cashmere (or merino)? Like Everyone I wasn't that impressed with chinti & parker. Only have 1 jumper but it went baggy quite fast.

maradesbois · 27/02/2018 14:56

Blair this is a good article about maternity dressing. May not be great for corporate work wear but good for fashionable pregnant ladies wanting to keep their own style without spending a fortune. It shows this can be done with high st maternity brands & acknowledges the uncomfortable reality of a changing body, eschewing the worrying trend amongst bloggers for declaring no need for maternity wear which is clearly linked to body image rather than thriftiness.

Fedup we are all our own worst critics. I spent early January feeling shit about a candid photo from NYE where I look as wide as the back end of a bus. It put me right off my velvet party dress - even though other pics were fine I focused only on the awful one.

One Grin at ‘looking like someone just farted under my nose!’

Am enjoying the blogger and brands thread on here. Don’t really follow any of them but was amazed what an industry sm had become. Thinking about your considered criticism of C&P Everyone, you would never get that impartiality from a monetised insagrammer.
