kittens to be fair, the city centre is clear now. We’re about 25 minutes walk from town and some of the pavements are sheer ice. I am shuffling to and from work looking quite mad.

We don’t break up until next Friday. SO LATE.

Morning All. Checking in with news of day 15 of 4160's advent calendar......it's Killer Rose. Another special edition...a very lovely soft rose oriental. (I was looking to see if they have 9mls left - not sure if it's all gone). I like this mix more than straight Raw Silk & Red Roses.

I am very much enjoying the opportunity to try all the limited editions.

Wrappings today for the last day of school. I have to pay all the bills today and this makes me feel efficient and grown up plus a little austere. Cristalle is my similar summer choice.
This week i’ve been on a Rose theme of Montale Roses Musk and La Fille de Berlin plus Tobacco Rose. The oily synthetic musk note of Roses Musk is really annoying me now.Though this was one of my favourites for a while.

SOTD is Terre d'Iris. I really like this a lot. It's very cold and green to start with, then the drydown is a lovely powdery iris (obvs) with a hint of earthyness. Good stuff.

No SotD yet Shock
Might have to go for Killer Rose (thanks for the reminder MrsM), it is rather nice in a very subtle for me way.

ACD SotD Mistral Patchouli. Patchouli, pomelo and star anise. Initial citrus hit from the Pomelo but not as 'wow' as Pomelo Paradis. Then the patchouli comes in but there's always the citrus balancing it. I really enjoyed this more than I was expecting. Fragrantica reviews tak about mint in this but I haven't got any, it doesn't feel particularly green at all to me.

Came home from work to my new bottle of

Hello! Very jealous of those who've finished now - another week to go here!

ACAC was Pomelo Paradis soap so SotD was the Silver Iris I parked last week. Hadn't read any notes so was unprepared for the massive blackcurrant whoosh. It did settle into something quite pleasant but the initial feeling of smelling like a Ribena Berry might be a difficult stumbling block.

SOTD was Tauer Lonestar Memories. So pleased it’s Friday, but so wish it was next Friday!

My SOTD was Tauer Incense Rose. I’m so pleased I bought a bottle of this. I hesitated because it was so expensive but actually in terms of longevity per squirt, it’s almost economical (or so I’m telling myself) 😊! I put it on 12 hours ago and it still has sillage.

Polemo paradis soap plus perfume will be fab. When are you trying out the combinations?

Just realise I only have a day and a half left at work before Christmas (The kids break up on Tuesday). Got DH's present sorted but still need some more for the kids. And have some presents to send to Scotland, gulp.

Thankfully DD1's football is cancelled tomorrow so she won't freeze like she did last week. And her birthday present is sorted, an islabike so I'm feeling poor!

Morning, catching up after 2 parents' evenings in a row (including on Thursday dd ringing me in the middle and saying she had excruciating pains in her side and couldn't breathe- cue dp rushing home from work and a trip to A&E- it's nothing- "flu symptoms" FGS!!!) and being shouted at for 26 minutes (the parents waiting counted Xmas Grin by a mad mother who says I am a liar that her PFB is an infantile 16 yr old who is either a) giggling or b) thumping his mate)

Hey ho.

Tauer update. Gutted to report that not only is Lonesome Rider a generic men's aftershave but Incense Extreme is a total scrubber. I am bemused as reading the notes I thought I would love it, frankincense (I use NY frankincense cream and adore it) iris, cardamom etc etc. It's cloying, not incense-y but rotting vegetation sweet and I've been scrubbing my wrist for an hour and can still smell it. Ain't that the way.

However, both 24 Rue Faubourg and Cardinal have gone straight onto the FB wishlist, so all is not lost.

I still haven't unpacked the Harrods hamper properly! However it is this beauty! All For Me!

I am thinking how wonderful all my perfume boxes will sit into the hamper itself once Christmas is over....

I don't break up until next Saturday, though Friday is the kids' assembley (organized by them, so utter chaos) and I imagine Saturday they will finish earlier than I am due to start (11am) so Thursday should be last teaching day.

Morning All. Day 16 is Our Modern Lives Indigo. Dark (but much much softer than, say, BVC), listed notes include cedar, labdanum, back tea and blackcurrant bud. The opening shares some similarities with the darker non-fizzy aspects of Shazam!, but it moves on quite quickly...will report back. Am trying layered with alpha and beta.

Update: interestingly, as alpha is pretty poky stuff, Indigo does subdue the vibrating wood and blend with into something dark and smoky with an interesting matt texture. (Is this the osmanthus?). With beta it's a bit more open and the floral and boozy notes peek through.

PiaM - that's funny, I was imagining your perfume in that hamper afterwards too! (Contents looks amazing as well...but first things first Grin).

ACD SotD Gold Leather. Leather, bitter orange, davana. Top note all prunes (Fragrantica says boozy plums Hmm) then quickly settles to leather. Should feel Christmassy but not fussed TBH.

Afternoon all, happy Saturday! I'm feeling a bit demob-happy as I'm not back in the office now until 2nd Jan. However I do have plenty of marking to keep me occupied until then...

SOTD is Eau my Soul - lovely sandalwood, incense, lavender blend. It's very soothing.

Have just come back from the hairdresser with a rather radical new cut - very short and spiky after the dull blondish bob I've been sporting for the last couple of years. I was inspired by a thread on here about getting a short cut to start growing in the grey, and I love it. However I do now have three-tone hair - blonde on top, silver at the sides and mousey in the back! But the best bit is I can give myself a great big silver-blonde quiff with the help of some backcombing and spray - my students aren't going to recognise me next year Grin Grin

I need to go big on eyeliner, chic androgynous dressing and uncompromising scent to live up to my own hair, though!

Your new haircut sounds great Kittens. I've been wanting to get mine done now it's long enough after growing back from chemo. Trouble is, one side has come back fairly curly, but the other side is fairly straight, with some sections having a 90 degree kink, making it stick out. I took the scissors to the worst bit that stuck out at right angles to my head! I used to have straight hair, with a scattering of grey, but it's completely grey now, and not a nice silver grey, just a dirty grey.
I have got a tub of Directions in a peacock colour to use though.

Haven't chosen a SOTD yet. Might try the Shay and Blue I got in the advent calendar again. It didn't have much depth to it, but I liked the citrus.

Afternoon all,

I've still got a full week at work to get through - losing motivation now! Haven't had a SOTD for a couple of days as I've been full of cold and migraine. I so wanted it to snow here so I could wear Doe in the Snow but no such luck!

Dusita perfumes Le silage blanc is my Sotd. Bitter green Chypre with leather and big silage .The weird thing is I can’t smell much on my wrist but I can wafting my arms about . Maybe not the best choice for dds sports competition, when I’m in close proximity with other parents.

Post-bath 'fume is MMM By The Fireplace. Am so tempted to treat myself to a FB of this after Xmas; it's just the perfect cosying-up scent.

Has anyone ever tried Jil Sander Stylessence or no 4?

SOTD is JHAG for a trip to the hairdresser - nothing as cool as you, kittens! I did get wine though, which was nice. On the snow front, it is sheer ice after a load of rain last night which then froze over. I could have done with crampons to get into town.

We have another full week too, but not back until the 8th. I am aiming not to have marking to do over the break so will be working like a dog this week.

Ooh another hairdresser trip here too! The bravest I've been today is blonder blond bits though... I once tried to go full on purple and it just didn't work so I found a new hairdresser and played it safe!!

SotD was ACAC Sud Magnolia. First few seconds was the O2 body spray so popular when I was at school (what was the brand?? Can't remember for the life of me!!) but it very quickly gets a bitter grapefruity note. Then settles to a bit of rose. Not normally a rose fan so not sure if I really do like this or it's really just relief at being past the bitter bit...!
