Ophelia, try the Alien Essence Absolue. It’s the only one of the Aliens I tried that I like. It has a lovely bottle, like the back view of an alien with a plump bottom! I only have a sample but will probably look out for a bottle at a reasonable price.

AEA is the only Mugler that works for me as well, might put a bit on after my bath. Thanks for the reminder!

Anyone tried L'Heure Bleue parfum? I find the edp a bit of a struggle with that initial medicinal carnation blast, the far dry down is really lovely though.

LHB is not for me....too medicinal

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 13/12/2017 19:35

I wish Janet - I do like the EDP. I think I must skip that blast though.

I think I probably should try more Mugler's- I wasn't too fussed by Angel either way so haven't rushed to try the others. Will add to the "to spritz in a shop next year" list...

SotD was ACAC Bois Blonds. Like yesterday, this has more going on than the out and and citrus blast of the others, but the citrus is stronger than in the Santal Carmin and is what I'm left with when everything else has gone. Probably prefer the Santal Carmin.

ACD SotD Vetiver Fatal. Vetiver, bergamot and oud. I do love green perfumes. Not sure I prefer it to Papillon's Dryad but I did enjoy wearing it today.

I adore the medicinal bit of LHB. I prefer that bit to the ssssh old lady powder drydown.
It's on my FB list.

I'm.not wearing anything except my fleecey jammies as still have a headache, but received a fab unperfumed Christmas present this evening from my cousin. A proper ginormous Harrods hamper. I literally squealed. It's the first year we'll spend Christmas itself here and it's just been delivered in a wicker basket. I feel so posh!

SOTE is Lumiere Blanche by Olfactive Studio. Lovely milky coconut and white flowers. Dreamy.

Oh how exciting PiaM!

The Muglers are definitely at the most interesting end of stuff you can find on any High St...I like their cologne too.

Back to the 4160Tuesdays calendar...day 13 is....Swann. So this is a shy beauty. Softly aromatic orange/citrus skin scent. Interesting in a gently soothing way. I can almost smell a delicate and beautiful hint of the coconut milk/lime notes tucked away behind the cumin in Maxed Out.

SOTD is L’Air de Rien. Do people still have snow? We do, and I am sick of walking around like Bambi on ice.

PIAM what an amazing gift! When I first lived on my own during my postgrad, then afterwards, my mum used to make me a (far less posh) hamper every year. The food used to last me weeks. The wine less so, obviously.

judy you'll have to keep me updated re: snow!

Gosh, BVC really is a strong one. I can still smell it on my pyjamas after the layering experiments the other night. Perhaps I just need to wash my pyjamas Hmm

Last day in the office tomorrow. Cannot. Wait.

ACD SotD Jasmine Angelique. Green and floral. Reminded me of walking into a room where there's a bunch of lillies about to go off. Strong, slightly fetid naturfloral smell.

But is it insolent Pest?

Day 14 and the advent calendar sample is .....Oriane. A cyclamen-based dreamy powdery floral. This manages to be rich and rounded - without being in the slightest bit overpowering, as again, like Swann it sits very very close to the skin.

I am impressed with the Proust special editions. I like Swann so much I've worn it again today. Only draw back is that it is barely there and I need to spray a lot to pick it up. I do love a soapy aromatic orange - very comforting to wear. This is way more interesting and nuanced than Blood Oranges.

I don't know what the authentic belle epoque ingredients are that were used, but something is sending the cat into raptures. Consequently I have even more fluff on my pyjamas than usual.

MrsPestilence · 14/12/2017 22:37

It was a blind pick from the sample pot MrsM, insolence abounded Grin
