Does anyone fancy a thread to discuss the products as we open the drawers? Quite a few people seem to have it this year from what I've seen on here.

I dont have the card anymore either!

I like todays, another cleanser though. Ive wanted to use products from this brand before so im happy to give it a whirl.

BluebellGal · 09/12/2017 08:52

Another cleanser?! That’s the 3rd cleanser in 9 days if you count the superfoliant (which is probably technically an exfoliant but I’m using it as a morning cleanser).

I would have liked a moisturiser not more cleanser!

I am now wishing I got the M&S calendar as I’m quite envious of what they are getting.

Hope this calendar redeems itself soon!

Stitchosaurus · 09/12/2017 08:54

I've already chucked the card into the recycling, sorry!

Another cleanser - I like getting cleansers because they're the things I use most, but 3 in 9 days is a bit much! They could have spaced them out a bit. Having said that, there was a different cleanser from this brand last year and I really liked it, so I'm pleased to get another from Skin Laundry to try.

Thermal baths sound amazing! And now I want Lebkuchen Grin

friendly hope 2018 is better for you, and glad you're enjoying your lovely treats! How nice of your sister.

Housewife2010 · 09/12/2017 09:12

I really liked the Marvis liquorice toothpaste last yearand rebought it. I would definitely describe the Dermalogica as an exfoliant rather than a cleanser. I'm looking forward to the perfume, makeup (one item in particular which I won't hint at in case I'm accused of spoilers) and the final couple of days. I didn't notice the info cards at first; my children take it in turns to open the calendar for me (each day they ask whether Liberty or M&S has won?), but all product info can easily be found on line.

cedoren · 09/12/2017 11:11

Today is fine, but still a bit boring. I think the first third of the calendar was boring for me last year and in 2015. I buy it really for 3 or 4 products which I use anyway and I know they cost more than the calendar together. Then everything else is (hopefully) a bonus. But then I still get pissed off when it's boring Grin

Used the hair mask today...it's lovely! Has made my hair very smooth and silky so I'm impressed with that.

Would people use the nail serum over polish? Or do you think it'll ruin the polish?

Good point cedoren - I do think it's worth it even when I don't like every item, but I want to like every item!

LavenderHills · 09/12/2017 13:15

@chloechloe, I've realised we actually hadn't made it to Bavaria yet when we visited the baths Blush We were in Konstanz (AMAZING Christmas market, btw) and went to the Bodensee thermal baths overlooking the lake.

Have definitely made it to Bavaria now, though! Rothenburg on der Tauber, and I'm falling in love Smile

LavenderHills · 09/12/2017 13:33

(And yes, I have been lugging my calendar in and out of every hotel on our trip, so I have it to open in the mornings. DP often ends up carrying it and is not entirely thrilled!)

BluebellGal · 09/12/2017 14:04

I’m book marking those German Recs for next year Lavendar what a great trip (and your DH sounds like a trooper - that Liberty AC is heavy)

BluebellGal · 09/12/2017 14:05

Good points cedoren - will have to add up the real value to me when it’s all open

chloechloe · 09/12/2017 14:50

Don't worry lavender, my geography isn't great! Sounds like you're having a lovely trip - what a great plan to mix in the thermal baths with the markets. I love swimming in the outdoor pools in winter when it's snowing! I'm most amused by you lugging your calendar around with you!

I'm quite pleased with today's product. It's a brand I've never come across and I do love my cleansers! It kind of reminds me of a Philosophy face wash (Purity?).

I reckon you could put the serum over polish stitch, after all lots of people wear polish all the time. It might even stop it chipping so easily?

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 09/12/2017 20:44

I’ve had it every year since it came out, and I have to say this might be my last! It feels very repetitive, and although I usually don’t much like the first week, we are into the second now, and I’m still not feeling it! Only really happy with two products so far.

BluebellGal · 09/12/2017 22:18

Which two products do you like bucktoothedgirl? And what has made the previous years so great? Is this just a bit of a dud year?

I was thinking, perhaps Liberty struggled to get premium brands to participate this year. Perhaps sales of products haven’t gone up much post AC to make participation worthwhile. The effect must be different for niche brands versus the more mainstream stuff you get in the M&S calendar. Obviously the featured brands are selling to the AC maker at an extremely heavy discount to make the product viable so it’s effectively a big marketing exercise

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 09/12/2017 23:03

Bluebellgal I like the omorovicza cleanser and the dermalogica superfoliant. It’s not that this years is a dud, and that the others were great, the first week is always a bit of a let down TBH every year. Then you get some fab days towards the end and get sucked into next years. Only to open the new one and remember....l If you’ve had it before it just all feels very samey.

caggie09 · 10/12/2017 08:48

Its a lovely product, but i dont use eyeshadows. Its a lovely shade, think its called Amethyst. Its wasted on me, so will give it to someone that does use such things.

Pippin8 · 10/12/2017 10:03

I’m sick of all the cleansers.

However, today’s eye stick does look nice & I will try to use it if the shade suits me.

I really want a good quality mousturiser/day cream & a mascara.

Alwayslasttoarrive · 10/12/2017 11:30

Will give today’s offering a go - feels soft and creamy so will hopefully crayon on without any ‘drag’. Also tired of cleansers. Estimate we’ve had around £110ish in value up to now. 2 full sized items ( Margaret Dabbs nail stuff and the aromatherapy roll-on), and 8 samples. So with 15 drawers still to open we should have just 2 more samples and 13 full sized products to come - is that right? On that basis I have high hopes for the remainder of this calendar..........

Stitchosaurus · 10/12/2017 12:54

Very happy with today's offering. I wanted a more purple cream shadow but this colour does do a lovely smokey eye so I'm pleased.

chloe I've been using the serum over a glittery polish and it has survived Grin

onemouseplace · 10/12/2017 12:56

Was pleased with yesterday's and today's - I absolutely love getting cleansers - they are something I will always use and I like trying the different brands.

I really like today's as well - the shade is very similar to a Bobbi Brown stick eyeshadow I had a few years back, so should suit me. I'm just relieved that it wasn't an LM primer - I think I've had one of those in pretty much every GWP/ Advent Calendar I have ever had!

Stitchosaurus · 10/12/2017 12:56

Always I don't know how many full size bits we get, can't remember from last year either. Am hoping it's going to pick up a bit more now!

Clickncollect · 10/12/2017 13:07

I must admit, I'm happy to get cleansers as I will always use them. I confess that my usual cleanser (Liz Earle) ran out on 8th November and I sneakily found the Skin Laundry one in the calendar and have been using it for the last month - it's just run out. Lovely product, nice smell and my skin seemed to like it. I'm going to try the Omorovicza one tonight (although I've test patched it a few times in the last few days). So I feel like I am kind of 'saving' money as I haven't had to replace my Liz Earle one yet and won't do that until I've used all the cleansers. Same with other day to day products like hand cream/exfoliators - I'll take from the calendar as my usual product runs out so that I don't have loads of opened products hanging around.
Plus, if my skin reacts to something, if I'm only introducing one new product at a time, then I'll know who the offender is!

chloechloe · 10/12/2017 13:24

I love my cleansers so I'm happy with the calendar so far. I have 5 on the go at the moment although two are nearly finished. It's the first year I've had the Liberty calendar but I can imagine it could get a bit repetitive year on year. Indeed I guess it's not easy to get brands to join in, given the amount of product they must have to supply at a discount. The one brand that always seems to crop up is Omorov-whatnot. I've had a few Cult Beauty and Space NK goody bags and they always have a product in there.

I'm pleased with today's offering, but think they could have thrown in the full size version. I have a similar colored one from By Terry so will be interested to compare them. This one seems lovely and creamy so I think it will glide on without tugging. It also sends quite blendable. Hopefully it won't crease like the Charlotte Tilbury crayons which don't stay on 5 minutes.

BluebellGal · 10/12/2017 13:31

I love today’s Laura Mercier eye crayon in amythest - looks beautiful on and so easy to apply. Very happy Grin

The Margaret Dabbs stuff has sorted my nails out. They look good now after twice daily application

This calendar is now looking promising!

cedoren · 10/12/2017 18:30

I love today's. That's more like it.
