Liberty advent calendar thread

Does anyone fancy a thread to discuss the products as we open the drawers? Quite a few people seem to have it this year from what I've seen on here.

OP posts:

Think I might give yesterday’s offering a miss, having read the comments on here. I have very sensitive skin and have to admit I was put off on seeing the word ‘acid’ on the packaging anyway.

LavenderHills · 17/12/2017 11:48

Update from the German Christmas market road trip. The Town Hall in Meissen has turned itself into a giant advent calendar, and look! Do you think they know they've used the same colour and font at Liberty? Grin

Wow that photo of the Meissen town hall, on this thread, is quite fabulous!

Pippin8 · 17/12/2017 17:13

Wow, I agree that is awesome!

My face still feels tight, I cannot wait to cleanse it & slap a load of face cream on.
Oh wait, I can’t because I haven’t got any face cream. I’m still waiting for some!

I will say I’m impressed with the 2 eye sticks. I will definitely repurchase the Laura Mercier. And today’s I put on in a major hurry, but still really liked it.

Stitchosaurus · 17/12/2017 17:33

I followed up the mask with my usual serum and moisturiser so not feeling tight or dry, but I'm not entirely sure what the mask is supposed to do or if it's had any effect!

Really like the eye make up today, did a quick, easy smoky eye with it which looks good despite me being a bit rubbish with make up application.

That town hall is gorgeous!

MathsFiend · 17/12/2017 21:19

Hmmm... not too impressed by the make-up so far. Lots of sticks- two eye sticks and a lip stick. Last year there was a proper lippie- much nicer than this year. And full size Bobbi brown lip and cheek tint, compared with small size Nars blush.

BluebellGal · 17/12/2017 21:21

Happy with the two eye make up products. Will try the mask but disappointed it’s a single application. The bum bum cream is ok. I like Eve Lom (and the smell) but haven’t we had enough cleanser now!? I’m really hoping for some moisturiser so I don’t have to buy it over Christmas. Wtf is brow oil supposed to do (apart from block pores and develop spots maybe?!)

So far 4/10 for this calendar I’m afraid. Look Fantastic was 10/10 for me and wish I’d saved it now- I purchased it for the makeup/skincare and using a lot of products daily.

DottyBlue2 · 17/12/2017 23:30

God don't people moan?

MathsFiend · 17/12/2017 23:49

Agreed BluebellGal , LookFantastic has been much better so far. Hopefully Liberty will redeem itself over the next 8 days with some high value full size products.

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2017 06:45

For the people who are disappointed with the contents, didn't you check them before you bought it? I checked the contents on lots of calendars on Really Ree website. I wouldn't have spent £179 on Liberty if I wasn't sure that I would love and use most of the products. I ordered it in October so the contents were still a surprise. I didn't fancy the Look Fantastic contents so I don't have any regrets.

Alwayslasttoarrive · 18/12/2017 07:22

Loving today’s offering - I really need something that will (hopeful) help me to wake up more beautiful next day 😀. Natural ingredients and smells divine. A hit with me.......

Pippin8 · 18/12/2017 09:20

I like today’s. I will use it as a night moisturiser.

I had the look fantastic last year & really rated it. I did read the contents of the Liberty, but must say I had forgotten by the time it arrived. There have been days I’ve been disappointed & a few things have been put in a cupboard. But I’m still glad I bought it.

BluebellGal · 18/12/2017 09:25

Sorry for moaning - quite unlike me to moan, but honestly I expected to be wowed by this AC given the price and reputation. I expected a load of hero products and only a few have materialised so far (superfoliant, Eve Lom, Laura mercier eye crayon). I didn’t check the products before I parted with £179 which was a mistake. I wanted a surprise and trusted Liberty to deliver. I expected a few duds but didn’t expect so many niche products- like brow oil and aromatherapy oil and brown lipstick (when pink or more flattering on more people). I think they should be putting in more stuff with wider appeal. Anyway lesson learnt!

I’m very pleased with today’s Aurelia night oil - a face moisturising product at last!

chloechloe · 18/12/2017 12:12

I'm a big fan of Aurelia and haven't tried this before, so thumbs up from me. I have sooooo many face oils though - it's the kind of thing that lasts for ages so I never get through them.

Without anybody particular in mind, I think there has been a fair bit of moaning on all the AC threads generally (I've been following a few). Personally I only buy calendars where the RRP value of the calendar is significantly higher than the cost, so I'm not too bothered if there are a few things I don't like. I did also have a quick look at the contents before buying to avoid upset (and have since forgotten). There are some calendars (I think Jo Malone and C Tilbury) where there isn't such a saving (I could be wrong) and so those I wouldn't buy.

onemouseplace · 18/12/2017 14:01

Ahem - I still have the Votary facial oil from last year stashed and unopened. They last forever.

And I am just about to finish a bottle of today's Aurelia oil - it's nice enough, but not a standout oil for me, so I think I shall pass this one on (and perhaps open the Votary one).

VanessaBet · 18/12/2017 16:42

So do you use the oil in lieu of a night moisturiser?

VanillaMincePie · 18/12/2017 16:55

No, I don't think so. You use it in place of a serum and put moisturiser on top.

VanessaBet · 18/12/2017 18:07

Oh ok, I use advanced night repair usually, I'll see how it compares

caggie09 · 18/12/2017 19:29

Im a recent convert to facial oils, so im pleased to add another to my collection. They do last ages, so im hoping i dont need to buy anymore for a long time.
There has been a leak in my calendar though, so ive seen all remaining days.

Piccolino2 · 19/12/2017 10:23

Not been looking forwards to today, they could have at least included a conditioner too!

chloechloe · 19/12/2017 10:44

I prefer to have matching shampoo and conditioner too piccolino! I guess I'll pair it with the mask.

VanessaBet · 19/12/2017 11:02

Bit bored by a shampoo to be honest, never heard of the brand, the packaging looks cheap (even though I'm sure it isn't) and it doesn't look quite full. Nonetheless, I'm sure it will get used.

BluebellGal · 19/12/2017 11:26

I like trying new shampoo so I’m happy Smile

Dozyoldtwonk · 19/12/2017 11:53

I like today’s, lovely smell and I like the packaging but having just used it…it’s not a patch on my usual probably much cheaper brand. I have coloured hair though, so I use a toning shampoo and conditioner so that’s maybe why.

Pining for a bit of Diptyque now.

Alwayslasttoarrive · 19/12/2017 12:04

Yes, I’d like my candle to come along now - love them in the run-up to Christmas, so hope we don’t have to wait until the 25th. Ok with the shampoo, smells nice, but not used it yet. Great travel size if nothing else.....
