Does anyone fancy a thread to discuss the products as we open the drawers? Quite a few people seem to have it this year from what I've seen on here.

Just a thought - anyone keeping tabs on value up to now? I’ve been doing a rough ‘running total’ but by my calculations we’re only at around £200, which can’t be right? Can it? Only 10 more boxes to open, so will the value of stuff in these really come out at around £300?

UpEarly · 15/12/2017 08:35

I’m with you, Lavender!

I’m cynical about this one. It smells nice so I could use it as a body lotion. Can’t inagine myself slathering it on my eyebrows tbh ...

Pippin8 · 15/12/2017 09:12

My eyebrows are microbladed, so can’t really see the point of this for me.

Plus, do any brow serums really work??
Seems like a naff offering.

onemouseplace · 15/12/2017 09:15

I never used the brow balm from the same company from last year's calendar, so I can't see me using this one either!

I do like the calendar and I think the products are good, I just think it is too similar to last year (practically all the same companies).

HLBug · 15/12/2017 09:47

I agree mouse - I suppose it must be difficult for them as they’ll only want to include products that they actually sell, so that if people like it they will go back to liberty to buy again. No point them including things that will give their competitors business.

But it is too samey this year - the brow stuff last year was pretty much the same thing. I’ll be trying another calendar next year I think (maybe House of Fraser Grin)

satonthesofa · 15/12/2017 10:19

I completely agree, this was my third year of the calendar and it all feels a bit samey. I understand that they use the brands that are popular but all in it’s been a bit dull and too similar. Time for a change for me.

cedoren · 15/12/2017 11:34

Bored by Eve Lom and the brow thing. Personally I'd like to see more make-up.
To those asking about the value, in the last few years the end give products have been worth at least £200 if I'm remembering correctly

I love Eve Lom cleanser so happy with that one although would have preferred something I hadn’t used before (of course they are not to know that!!).

The bum bum cream I’m liking the smell of and applying it to my mum tum in the hopes I might see a bit of firming action and less creepiness at least.

Not sure about the eyebrow oil, it does smell nice. I’ve put it in the bathroom. I can imagine it’ll be something I forget to use. Wish you could use it near lash line too.

Overall, I’ve loved this calendar so far. It’s a thing of beauty and feels so decadent. I’ll miss it in January. I can see how it would feel a bit repetitive if you’ve had it before so will think about whether to get it again next year. I’m going to start putting £5 in an advent calendar fun every week then I can purchase guilt free!

Stitchosaurus · 15/12/2017 13:03

I agree with other repeat buyers...same brands with very similar products. Still fun and I do enjoy it, but I'll be going for something different next year.

I barely used the brow balm last year and I see this one going the same way!

caggie09 · 16/12/2017 06:12

I love a good facemask, so really like todays! Looks like a little science experiment. Day 17 tomorrow, im not prepared for no advent calendar opening after x-masShock

Piccolino2 · 16/12/2017 09:17

I’m loving today’s! Very excited. Something totally different to try. No idea how to use it but that’ll be the fun part when I get 3 seconds peace...

I agree @caggie09, thinking I should have bought an advent calendar to open in January too!

Stitchosaurus · 16/12/2017 09:54

Today's is so cool! Really looking forward to trying it. January is going to be bleak for us with no calendar left Grin

Pippin8 · 16/12/2017 09:54

I love a face mask and am excited to try this. Even if it does look like something you could buy in a chemist in the 70’s.

chloechloe · 16/12/2017 13:13

I opened this yesterday as I'm currently away for the weekend. It looks so bizarre!

I've got a Decleor calendar on one side to open in January!

LavenderHills · 17/12/2017 07:47

Okay, today's looks very interesting! I have a question, though; did everyone else's shadow brush come with product already applied to it? For a second I thought I'd been sent a used tester...

VanessaBet · 17/12/2017 08:29

I don't have a brush! Just the liner stick. I was bleary eyed and trying to work out if the brush was integrated somehow. Can anyone post a photo of what I should have please?

UpEarly · 17/12/2017 08:42

One end pulls off, the other end twists off!

Alwayslasttoarrive · 17/12/2017 08:43

It’s double ended Vanessa, liner at one end and shadow at the other. You need to twist the stick to unscrew the shadow end. Mine came loaded with product as well Lavender, so presumably this is how they come? Like the look of this. Will try it out later.

VanessaBet · 17/12/2017 08:49

Thank you, I shall attempt it again now I'm more awake. I'm freezing my butt off at junior park run with DS1

Pippin8 · 17/12/2017 09:25

I like the look of today’s & will try it later. Although, I would’ve preferred a mascara as we’ve already had an eyeshadow stick.

I used the mask last night and straight after my face felt tight & dry. Today my skin looks no different & I have a spot under my nose.

MathsFiend · 17/12/2017 09:25

Ah, thanks. Took me a while to work it out. I thought I was missing a second piece at first!

VanillaMincePie · 17/12/2017 09:30

Vanesaa - you deserve a medal. It is the coldest morning since cold mornings began!

Thank you for the tips. I wouldn't have known that there was a secret other end if I hadn't read these comments!

VanessaBet · 17/12/2017 09:35

@pippin8 I also used the mask last night and whilst it felt nice at the time (and the little 'pill' mask unfurling was very satisfying) my skin also felt rather tight afterwards, and not in a good way.

I did try the laura mercier shadow the other night though and loved it, even on my hooded eyes.

onemouseplace · 17/12/2017 09:47

I'm definitely intrigued by today's - it took me ages to work out how to get to the eyeshadow side!

Stitchosaurus · 17/12/2017 10:49

I'm posting this with the sheet mask on, so a bit worried to read that two of you were left feeling tight and dry afterwards - I did send a nice pic to DH of me looking like Hannibal Lector so it's not a complete loss Grin

Took me awhile to find the shadow end too on today's. Will slap that on once I'm done with the mask!
