Hope the hospital appointment went ok shop. Glad to hear you had a good time at the party, hope the shoes survived.

maradesbois · 22/01/2018 16:31

Afternoon,

Checking in from the gym where i’ve just done a big hike on the step machine set to (pale imitation of) a New Zealand forest trail in honour of Lib Grin. Glad you applied for the job that appealed to you most and congrats to dh on his. Am sure wherever you decide to settle will be a good choice, can understand the financial and lifestyle benefits of not being in Auckland despite other compromises.

Kitty so happy for you that your strategic shopping paid off and you got the coat, good work!!!

Marsha yes, am wondering what will happen at Céline under Hedi Slimane, I can imagine will be great for the fortunes of the brand but move completely away from what I love about it currently eg develop e-commerce, play more to US market, introduce his shorter/tighter/rock/grunge aesthetic & generally become louder. HS is amazingly talented, particularly in menswear but am actually a bit sad, end of an era.

Everyone such pretty links, those dresses are very you!

Shop glad the big do went well and that you were happy with your outfit.

Blingy great skiing advice from Vegas. We are going to the mountains in half term and am thinking of getting at least a new jacket, mine is warm and practical but was 10 euros in decathlon sale a couple of years ago & is actually not that bad looking but think I could make a stronger style impact on the slopes! Am looking at fusalp, an old brand that has been bought and relaunched by Lacoste. Also like perfect moment but maybe it is too now. The skinny flared trousers are good. Sportswear is something I don’t invest in at all but skiing is a bit different. What did you go for for yourself and the dc?

DryWhiteagainW · 22/01/2018 19:53

Blingy agréé with all Viva has said. We ski very Infrequently but this is what I’ve done re clothes:

The first time I spent money on black trousers, gloves (believe me nothing worse than cold fingers, cheap gloves are not worth it). Good socks with padding are worth investing in too.

I bought basic thermals that I reeled put every year....uniqlo is fine.
One pair of long johns for very cold days, rarely worn.

I replaced my jacket every holiday....changed outfit.

Loads of snow this year and very cold....so wrap up. Goggles are essential, if you get caught in a blizzard posey sunnites won’t cut the mustard.....guess how I know this? Grin

libertyonhertravels · 22/01/2018 23:26

Inspired by Everyone's lovely dress links I have had a browse of the Matches sale....

I would be so tempted by this if it was available in my size

Everyonelovessparkles · 23/01/2018 09:50

That’s lovely lib, those colours really suit you and maybe mara too.

Well done mara on going to the gym. I need to kick start my ex excise regime too. Been very lazy up to now.

Was thinking about all the lovely things I saw on matches yesterday and was wondering if people would rather buy one big ticket item or lots of cheaper purchases? Is the thrill in the purchase or the item? I know we talk about buying better as we understand our style more but would I be satisfied with just one summer purchase?? What do others do / think?

Everyonelovessparkles · 23/01/2018 10:46

dry I remember a while ago you were looking for a low heeled shoe for work, did you ever find any? Only I saw these low heel pointy shoes on the Boden website and thought they might be a potential.

FedupNagging · 23/01/2018 11:06

I'm just looking at the Boden website too Everyone! I was looking at this lemon jumper which I loved from afar but now I can see the sequins on the lemon, have gone right off it.

Kitty I love your Burberry coat, fab style; definitely worth the wait.

Good luck with the job app Lib; love that people delurked to give advice. Hope you get to do a NZ MU some time. Very pretty dress on Matches.

Shop glad you had a good time on Sat - bet you looked amazing.

I've been laid low with this chest infection/virus that's been doing the rounds - on day 8 and still feel terrible so currently off work. No energy or appetite and am very grumpy. Did manage to force down a danish pastry dh brought me this morning though Grin

FedupNagging · 23/01/2018 11:32

Is it me or is there something a bit weird about this photo Hmm -the one with the shoes on the actual model

MarshaBradyo · 23/01/2018 12:24

Very weird! Looks all stretchy

Mara completely agree, I feel a bit sad too, hope the staples (classic / trio) stay although I don't need another

Fedup hope you feel better soon

Everyone good question as I am pondering whether I just need a dress - one that I can wear for lunches or dinner this summer, a really nice one I'll love

maradesbois · 23/01/2018 16:30

Gosh no more trio would be sad indeed Marsha!

Fedup Flowers, hope you’ll be feeling better soon. Yes, shoe looks strange like it has been stretched.

Everyone & lib despite my no spend resolution I would have ordered that dress had it been available in my size, thank goodness it wasn’t!

Dreamqueen · 23/01/2018 18:18

I've been out for a boozy lunch and have tried to post v unsuccessfully with links about my OOTD. All saints bales jacket, Levis denim shirt dress, coach black tote and Ugg knee leather boots. I felt the best that I've felt in an outfit for a long time and had a great day out. Sorry for post being all me me me.

MarshaBradyo · 23/01/2018 18:48

Sounds nice Dream

Has anyone just replaced an old item with new? Marant trainers are kaput and I think I’ll just get new ones

shopafrolic · 23/01/2018 22:42

Not in the same league Marsha but I repeat buy Adidas Superstars.

OP posts:
kittyhello · 23/01/2018 22:44

Marsha that Burberry coat replaced an old Jaegar one. I like a funnel neck coat, I wanted black so went for the same style but different brand.

Fedup sorry to hear your not feeling great. I too like that Boden sweater until I did a close up.

Dream glad you felt fantastic in your ood. I still haven't worn my denim dress yet. You've inspired me to wear it.

Every good question, for me I'd like a bit of both although I know that's cheating. For summer I'd like to have more items but for winter I'd go for the big ticket purchase.

Lib lovely dress you posted and could see Mara in it too.

Can't write anymore as I'm on the app and my brain can only handle the last 5 posts Blush

Everyonelovessparkles · 24/01/2018 08:52

Hope you’re feeeling a bit better today fedup. Shame about the lemon jumper, I had it when companies (m&s I’m looking at you) add unnecessary frills or embellishments.

mara I forgot to ask what you thought of the new shops at Bicester? I know you said overall thsre wasn’t much there, but do the new shops make it more worthwhile to visit? For anyone in the SE I really rate the outlet place in Portsmouth (gunwharf). It’s predominantly high end high st, but the units are bigger than at Bicester and it’s quite a nice complex.

Glad you had a nice lunch out dream, you outfit sounds great. Did you decide what to buy your DSIS in the end?

This miserable weather has got me thinking of holidays so ordered this summer day dress (which I think kitty has too?) and this bikini. Not for summer but too good a bargain to pass by, I also ordered these pretty black shoes. Money seems to be burning a hole in my pocket at the moment. Grin

Interesting thoughts on the one big ticket item v more cheaper products. Maybe, once we’re happy with the basic contents of our wardrobe then it’s easier to invest in limited expensive purchases, but when we feel there are gaps, then there’s more of a desire to buy more?

I washed the cashmere joggers yesterday on the wool cycle in the machine at 30degrees. There seems to have a been a little bit of (tactical) shrinkage but nothing major so I would do it again. Not sure I’d risk a jumper though....

MarshaBradyo · 24/01/2018 13:43

Have found some Marant trainers at a great price, either completely brilliant or won’t arrive - should be ok. Will link when I know ;

I have hand washed in the sink rolled in a dry towel and flat dried before, bit of a faff so usually dry clean

justasecond · 24/01/2018 14:37

Hi all so much to catch up on again!
Marsha is it the bart trainers? Which colour did you go for? I have them in leopard and wear them a lot although avoid them on wet days like today. I haven't repeat bought a high ticket item but am guilty of buying the same thing in different colours.
shop glad your evening out went well. I'm sure you looked gorgeous and hope the heel on your lovely shoe boots is not damaged Smile
fedup hope you feel better soon x
Lib hope your interviews go well. It was so nice to see NZ delurkers!
Shame the lovely floral dress was sold out could see you and mara in it
Kitty so pleased your sale stalking paid off, it's a gorgeous coat!
I'm on the app too so need to go back and see who I missed.

justasecond · 24/01/2018 16:13

Everyone I go to bicester quite a lot 😊 I don't think the extra shops are worth a special visit. The Acne store is rubbish and always has the same stock. Joseph is a shop I usually like but I found it really overpriced when you compare it to Joseph sale/outnet prices. Roksanda had some lovely dresses if you are in the market for occasion wear. Other than a few of the existing stores that have relocated to bigger shops in the new bit there really isn't much more than that.

MarshaBradyo · 24/01/2018 19:28

Justa yes the Bart ones, I got the white with the black at the heel, the same as last time. I can't believe it but I realised the soles are worn through with holes so really can't wear them. Hope they turn up

DryWhiteagainW · 24/01/2018 22:42

Everyone thanks for linking the shoes, unfortunately Boden shoes hate my feet....the feeling is mutual too Sad

Big ticket or cheap? Impossible to answer really. I do love the few items I’ve spent on, always feel a bit naughty and always something I really love and have thought about a lot. But I have a lot of cheap stuff that i love a lot too ...... I guess expensive pieces feel special.

libertyonhertravels · 25/01/2018 03:43

More lovely dresses from Matches sale - I am fantasy shopping again instead of working on my job applications Blush

Altuzzarra

Masscob

Maria Lucia Hohan

Sea

Rebecca Taylor bra issues with that one though...

Prada This would tempt me as a big ticket item that would make the lack of shopping for several months worth it!

Peter Pilotto SWOON - but there is a whole lifestyle involving yachts and staff needed to ever have the opportunity to wear it Smile

Zandra Rhodes Mara have you a black tie do this year? I think this would be amazing on you.

I need a job Smile

MarshaBradyo · 25/01/2018 09:20

Beautiful dresses Lib, I must have another look too

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/01/2018 14:35

Great dresses lib. This preen lkb dress and this one have a similar pattern to the altuzzara one. I know what you mean about needing a new lifestyle to match the dresses though, not sure my couple of weeks in Cornwall and a week in menorca really warrants a £700 dress Grin.

libertyonhertravels · 25/01/2018 19:57

Oh the lkb dresses are nice Everyone.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/01/2018 15:27
