Option 1 sounds the better option Lib but i have to say i would be very tempted by the weather. You have sounded so happy these last few weeks. I guess the question for me is whether you would still be as chirpy if you're 12,000 miles away from home and the weather is still a bit rubbish? Ie do all the other things make up for it? Or will it still feel too much like being at home? (Sorry if that sounds offensive to every NZer lurking on the thread!!)

Snellsbells · 17/01/2018 04:16

Hello voguettes!
Also delurking to help liberty. I am in NZ - so I have no style insights! (I do miss London for that). Originally from the UK but my kiwi husband enticed me over here.

Feel free to message me with any questions. I live in Auckland (north of the bridge) and I do love it. We have a great lifestyle and the kids love it here. Dh's job means we have to be in a major city. Auckland is very expensive though. It really depends on the other town and what it has to offer, also whether you want all the perks a big city offers. The weather can be an issue in NZ - I have a friend in Dunedin and it's pretty cold and wet (except at the moment!)

Not sure I've really been any help, its hard without giving away too much! I'm a long time lurker who very rarely posts as I'm a bit forum shy! I've put on my big girl pants and taken the plunge now! Also have no idea how anything works on mumsnet so not even sure if this will post....

libertyonhertravels · 17/01/2018 09:46

Yay snellsbells welcome to MNV and yes I will pm you.

Longislandicetee · 17/01/2018 18:19

That’s so lovely of you to delurk snellsbellsSmile

libertyonhertravels · 17/01/2018 20:36

blingy I am worried about that too. But I would have a better house!

libertyonhertravels · 17/01/2018 20:38

That comment refers to blingy's previous comment about the weather - slightly hungover and not replying logically Smile

AmberNectarine · 17/01/2018 22:26

lib is from the Emerald Isle, Blingy. Inclement weather not such an issue, I'd venture!

libertyonhertravels · 18/01/2018 03:51

That's true Amber, but now that I have briefly glimpsed the alternative I fear I may never be able to go back Grin. It's like when people fly business class and can never do economy again.

Moving back to fashion this M&S dress which I found in our container has turned out to be a winner. Very flattering and dresses up and down well.

Everyonelovessparkles · 18/01/2018 12:52

Grin amber and lb this made me laugh. Yes I fear that if I tasted great sunshiney weather (and business class!) I may be reluctant to go back to mediocrity. Though a nice house could swing it!

Having had no luck with my Chinti and Parker jumpers (who, by the way, take FOREVER to refund you - no acknowledgement that parcel has been received, then up to another 7 days from notification that refund has been issued, totalling up to 3 weeks from when parcel was sent!), but still feeling that I need to update my current selection, I’ve had luck with 2 from mint velvet watermelon detail and blue star they are really nice and so soft and will look good with jeans or leather skirt, and this rainbow stripe from the white stuff, which will be a good every day purchase. Mint velvet have some really nice ones in JL, I’ve never bought anything of theirs before, but am pleased with these.

Date night tomorrow in town. Not sure what to wear as we’regoing to explore some of the Lumiere festival, so walking and outdoors but then having dinner somewhere nice.

MarshaBradyo · 18/01/2018 17:33

Everyone that is bad cs from C&P how annoying, great jumpers

DryWhiteagainW · 18/01/2018 20:26

Blingy were we dressed the same again today ? I was in fushia and grey today .......

DryWhiteagainW · 18/01/2018 20:28

I hate end of January.....all the sale dregs, nothing nice to look at....life is tough isn’t it Grin

BTW I really love it when lurkers pop up with info, love how this thread is so much more than just a fashion forum Smile

MarshaBradyo · 18/01/2018 20:34

Ha me too Dry

You’re all making me feel happy on here, just talking bolleaux (the good type), makes me smile

DryWhiteagainW · 18/01/2018 20:52

Had to google that Marsha

DryWhiteagainW · 18/01/2018 20:59

Ok this is what we will be wearing this year

Me:
Sequins ....Xmas only
Plastic (apart from my pleather jacket).....no
Multiple bags....too dangerous, I’ll leave one behind somewhere
Fringing.......probably not, perhaps accessories only

Tweed.....bit wintry, but ok
Cinderella shoes....yes
Ruffles......yes
Bright colours....yes

What have I forgotten?

DryWhiteagainW · 18/01/2018 21:01

Ah, checks, not tweed...well last year’s gingham ticks that box
Pastels....not really new is it? Yes
Transparency (with a vest of course Grin) Yes

MarshaBradyo · 18/01/2018 21:03

Nice. I hadn’t thought if trends , I have no idea what I’d like yet

I may have made that word up! (Hopefully google was kind ; )

MarshaBradyo · 18/01/2018 21:05

I like the colours

Everyonelovessparkles · 18/01/2018 21:19

Shame about the skirt dry. I did notice it was textured on the close up of the fabric.

Glad things are going well marsha. When I had DS it was jan and I felt it was so much easier to relax at home with him as the weather was miserable, compared to when I had DD and it was boiling, so felt I had to be out making the most of the weather.

On the trends front, not sure I will be doing plastic or fringing. I quite like pastels and bold colours, sheer is ok with a vest and I don’t mind a bit of sparkley details (not sure I would do full on sequins), I have multiple bags any way with two small DC Grin.

libertyonhertravels · 18/01/2018 21:51

Nice jumpers everyone especially the pale blue with the star.

Dry end Jan is often depressing. Spring coming soon though.

Shop woman in cafe I am in has just amazing grey hair. Really good cut, sort of Bob with texture. And in fab condition. I was sitting here wondering if I could take a sneaky pic for you but thought it would be too wierd.
