my aim is to enjoy what I have more, rather than trying to buy the idea of who/what I want to be..... wow Fairy that’s brilliant. I’m trying to do the same, have tried for so long to wear stuff that just isn’t me, frequently make —not too expensive— mistakes, I’ve tried for years to make more considered purchases with varying degrees of success....

maradesbois · 11/01/2018 09:08

Morning Voguettes,

Sending my belated congratulations to Marsha, new year new baby, such wonderful news Flowers Flowers. Bet it felt good to write ‘dd’ on here for the first time. Hope all is still going well with the sleep and she’s settling in to the family.

Dry love your red shoes, such a bargain and so you.

Shop Flowers to you for the family stuff, sounds hard. Can see it is not far round the corner for us too. On a more positive note love your whole party outfit, the clutch in particular is amazing.

Fairy I did a double take when I read your summery outfit post, so envious of you being in warmer climes. Have just finished reading ‘What Alice Forgot’ by Aussie writer Liane Moriarty, not a great work of literature but fun and gripping, the lifestyle in good parts of Sydney really appealed. I think that’s rubbish that Matches didn’t extend the promo btw considering that you’d already ordered the product within the window and just wanted to change sizes.

maradesbois · 11/01/2018 09:24

Am going to check out clique and hard sun, need some good tv this time of year. Also there is a new series of Spiral (fab French police drama) on iPlayer.

Can’t remember who mentioned podcasts but I like them too, good for when travelling or doing stuff around the house. Am really into the high low with Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes, think it would appeal to you too Stokey. How are you doing at work btw, still ft?

Am obsessed with the Diet Prada instagram account atm, for those not familiar it was set up by 2 fashion insiders to call out plagiarism within the industry as well as lack of diversity and questionable behaviour in general. They have an ongoing feud with stefano gabbana which is hilarious.

Disappointed by various reports of the outnet’s logistics turning shit. Have never got to grips with yoox, know they are huge but the interface of their site turns me right off even looking.

Haven’t done any sales shopping since the holidays but did buy my velvet bag and kirkwood boots with the pearl just before. Wore them lots over Christmas & planning to get them out again for a birthday party next week with my ‘Christmas dress’ from last year, black velvet matant with a draped front and 1940s type shoulders.

maradesbois · 11/01/2018 09:26

Marant.

Sorry for multiple posts, scared of losing things. Wanted to ask can anyone recommend good a good skiwear brand that is stylish without being too ££££?

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2018 13:23

Thanks Mara Flowers I’m taking it very easy, would be a different story with other dc around in the day

I need a new book I’m going to download that one, I liked her other one

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2018 13:25

Flowers to Shop

shopafrolic · 11/01/2018 18:07

The brow product that I use from benefit has been discontinued temporarily so I"m going to try Boy Brow from Glossier which I've seen recommended loads. If any of you want to try Glossier stuff they've given me a code which will get you 10%. PM me if you'd like it :)

I want to try this look for work. Has anyone seen a skirt like this? I don’t want a skirt with bulk around the waist. Lots of pleased around but only like pleated when sewn down over hip iykwim.
Thank you

Nice Dry will have a look later

Meant to say completely agree re look of Yoox, it’s depressing

libertyonhertravels · 12/01/2018 09:52

Love that style of skirt dry but so hard to find.

Another vote against Yoox here.

shopafrolic · 12/01/2018 10:58

Yup another Yoox hater here.
It's the online version of the experience of walking into a TK Maxx store. I am no good with either.
Horrible grey day here. DH has man flu. D.U.L.L.

Love this but too short in the sleeves

MarshaBradyo · 12/01/2018 11:10

Me too, what a shame about the sleeves

Dreamqueen · 12/01/2018 16:12

Looking for suggestions for a birthday present (60) for my sister. She's very stylish. £200 max. I'm stumped for ideas.

MarshaBradyo · 12/01/2018 16:40

What does she like usually Dream?

Any of these: cashmere, scarves, or do you reckon you know her style enough for a blouse / shirt etc? What’s her style like

shopafrolic · 12/01/2018 16:41

Is she London area Dream?

OP posts:
Dreamqueen · 12/01/2018 18:39

Shop she lives in the tropics. I'd been thinking about a bag possibly a clutch. Nothing on the shoulder as she has a dodgy shoulder/back problem. Possibly jewellery. She's very on trend & does her shopping either in London or US.

shopafrolic · 12/01/2018 19:49

Tricky.
Cashmere? Good for all temperatures. A big cashmere wrap?
Designer sunglasses if you know her face shape.
Jewellery?
A clutch or purse
Voucher for a meal for two at a local posh hotel
Theatre vouchers for you and her to go together when she is next in the UK
Designer silk scarf

Shop bloody man flu here too, I have no patience, felt grumpy all day, don’t need his grey cloud.

Off to look at shoes and watch The Crown ......

shopafrolic · 12/01/2018 19:53

Rubbish Dry
Drives me crackers. We just carry on - he keeps retiring to bed

Some great ideas Shop!

Huge hugs and waves to Mara!

Dry,i absolutely love that image you posted. Love everything about it, but especially the way the handbag and shoes go with the outfit. I have that bag in forest green, my friend has it in that beige colour.

Fairy, pity the Faye wasn't for you. I loved the warehouse dress you linked. Would love to be able to wear something like that but would look sooo bad on me!

DryWhiteagainW · 12/01/2018 21:29

I’ve become quite obsessed with that look Blingy but the skirt seems impossible to find, will keep looking. Would also look great with my fitted b + white long sleeved shirt.... a bit oooh la la.

shop “I’m tired”, “I’ve had a lot of early mornings”, “think I’ll stay in bed for an extra half hour”...........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

DryWhiteagainW · 12/01/2018 21:30

Black and white t shirt that is...

AmberNectarine · 12/01/2018 23:59

Dream things I'd like around that price point:

  • LV key case
  • Hermes Twilly scarf
  • Chan Luu scarf
  • Cult Gaia Ark clutch
  • Rockstud pool slides
  • ATP Atelier sandals
  • Personalised Chaos phone case
AmberNectarine · 13/01/2018 00:03

Or one of these
