And I was so sensible today....polishing Halo ....a NUR is to sort out my smalls Blush...went into MandS , got tempted by the £12, bras on sale...grabbed armfuls. Then in changing room I heard you all...

  1. they don't fit
  2. best to sort out what you have Dry then buy new 3)do you really love them? Left feeling virtuous.

Oh and dry January will have to start again in Monday...lasted 3 days Blush

libertyonhertravels · 05/01/2018 06:01

Well done Dry for staying strong in the face of cheap bras! Dry January is way too hard - do February instead Wink.

DD is funny - she's having a fashion phase - currently designing a fashion magazine Grin. She has written an article about t-shirts she has designed which states 'If you buy these t-shirts you will be fabulous!'. I think I may need to consider the type of role model I am Confused

I spent today work hunting reality kicking in . Have tidied CV, drafted one application and sent a couple of emails introducing myself. It's been years since I actually had to hunt for work - jobs over last 5/6 years have tended to come to me. I am feeling sick!!! Time for some Wine.

It is beautiful! Really heavy chain - loads of useful sections. And more silver IRL - the first pic looks champagne......

Wow! that is beautiful Shop.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 05/01/2018 12:14

stunning Shop looks very versatile as well, will go with so much stuff

FedupNagging · 05/01/2018 13:18

Absolutely gorgeous bag Shop - love your dress too. Did you decide what shoes to go for?

Bernice the Mightiest Maraschino has a pink hue to it but still a red. I've put a picture (for a limited time Grin ) on pin to show you.

Marsha how are you getting on? Hope you're managing to get some rest.

One, only a few months until your trip-so exciting.

Blingy shame the dress wasn't right but you definitely have nicer ones in your vast wardrobe and fab bag too.

Lib your dd has made me laugh. You're a brilliant role model so don't worry too much. Good luck with the job hunting.

MarshaBradyo · 05/01/2018 13:45

Shop that is so lovely. Perfect. So glad you went for that one

Fedup pretty good considering it's day 5. Dd is sleeping well, first few nights were a bit hairy but then bought a cot that goes next to the bed and big improvement. Although hopefully not famous last words as used it for the first time last night. Very chilled as other dc at school. Will miss dh when he goes back to work as it has been nice to have him around, although it shouldn't be hard just different.

shopafrolic · 05/01/2018 13:54

Marsha glad the new cot is working. The other option sounded knackering long term Grin
Thanks for all the clutch love. It really is perfect and I know I will use it for loads more than just the three parties coming up. It will really elevate my usual skinny jeans, heels and blazer look.
The interior pockets make it much more useful than any other clutch I have and the chain is lovely and heavy. The only thing I am unsure of is if the interior is leather or not - it doesn't really matter either way but the Selfridges website says it is, the JC website says nothing. There is no real leather stamp on it - do you think it's worth an email to JC CS or shall I not bother if I'm keeping it anyway?
Fedup shoes still to be sorted. I need to try on what I have the evening and if shoes don't work then I'll have to hit the shops this weekend. I have seen some good shoes and showboots by Carvela that may work.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 05/01/2018 16:28

this evening and shoeboots - although showboots would probably be fabulous Grin

Topazwithpearls · 05/01/2018 16:57

It is gorgeous shop. I’m sure you will use it so much. I’d be inclined to email to find out about the lining, as long as it wouldn’t be too much of a disappointment if the answer is no!

It is lovely to hear that things are going so well marsha. What a wonderful time.

Funny about the bra-shopping dry.

Good luck with the job-hunting lib, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble.

I am loving my new Hudson Chelsea boots, even though I am still struggling to remove them. I must make sure not to wear them when flying - don’t want to make a show of myself at security fighting with them to get them off!

Stokey · 05/01/2018 17:17

Beautiful clutch Shop

I'm also a Mighty Maraschino fan Fedup. In fact quite often, I'll start an evening out with Ruby Woo and take the chubby stick to reapply. The other one I love is Grandest Grape - keep meaning to look for a lipstick in this shade.

Glad sleeping is Ok so far Marsha, early days but bodes well. You sound very chilled, must be number three!

Good luck with job hunting Lib, I'm sure you'll find something quickly.

love the faux vs real leather talk Dry & Blingy - you two make me laugh Grin

I'm still on the lookout for a bag - may have mentioned it about half a year ago - I thought I'd found one blue Coach tote but sadly it's sold out - must be the manic MN Coach thread!
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Am not up for spending big bucks £300 max, and want something quite spacious, not too structured & leather. moon on a stick?

Everyonelovessparkles · 05/01/2018 19:55

Gorgeous bag shop and I agree that it does look versatile and can elevate a more low key outfit.

Shame about the dress blingy but on second look the skirt does seem a bit tulip / lamp shade shaped which might be the issue. As fedup said though, you do have lots of other fab dresses!

Glad things are going ok msrsha. Do you have a sleepyhead? My DB and a few friends have used them recently and say they are wonderful.

lib your DD sounds hilarious! My DD also has an interest in clothes as does DS at the age of 3! He often tells me which top and trousers he wants to wear - not taking after his dad then!!

My second C&P star jumper arrived and disappointingly it is faulty. There are random coloured loose threads in the main jumper, there is a bit of black thread missing from the main big star and there is a small hole in the ribbing on the hem. Not what I would expect for £162!! So that’s gone back too. It’s now OOS in my size but this experience has put me off a bit. Also I didnt have chance to order another pair of the WC cashmere joggers this morning and they were sold out in my size by lunch time. Oh well. I’m sure my back account will appreciate it!

Re trainers. I don’t really want to spend more than £150. Boringly I’m just thinking of a pair of Adidas gazelles - just not sure whether to get a coloured suede (maybe grey or red?) or white leather.

justasecond · 05/01/2018 20:19

Shop the clutch is just gorgeous! will lift any outfit.
Marsha sounds like you are coping well.
dry well done for resisting the cheap bras, I have fallen into that trap many a time Blush
everyone shame about the jumper as it was lovely.
lib good luck with the job search and your dd sounds like a fashionista in the making!
stokey think you were wearing the grape chubby stick at a mu? it looked really good on you

I think I am going to order these
cord trousers need an alternative to skinny bottom half in the winter

kittyhello · 05/01/2018 20:44

Great bag Shop I think you'll use it loads, love the dress you have too.

Blingy I have a gazillion Boots Advantage points so may try out a chubby stick or 2. When you linked that dress I didn't think it was you, but sometimes it's good to try.

Marsha lovely news about your dd sleeping well.

Every grr about your C&P jumper, what a PITA. I'm a bit late to the white trainer brigade and ordered these white trainers a few months ago, I didn't want branded Adidas and these seemed more anonymous.

Topaz glad you're loving your boots, are they a bit tight?

Lib your dd Grin a future editor of Vogue perhaps? Good luck with the job hunting, I'm sure you'll get something soon.

After Blingy's 2017 round up I tried thinking of mine, I didn't buy much in 2017 but I'm glad I bought the Gucci belt, it elevates even a basic outfit such as black skinnies and a black Tippi.

For 2018 I'm going to try and step out of my comfort zone, my clothes have become a bit too boring and staid. In the sales I bought some gold/copper boots to life an all black outfit, can't link as they're now oos.

black and gold top sadly I'll have to return as it's huge and they don't do a size smaller Sad

I wanted to replace my black coat and went for another funnel neck one black coat it's a few cm shorter than my current one but I'm fine with that. Unfortunately the Burberry one that I REALLY wanted went on sale on Christmas day and I was too late to the party. Was also after some Toga Pullas but not sure if I love them enough for the price. I ordered them and sent them back as I was unsure about them.

Longislandicetee · 05/01/2018 22:55

Evening! Have had such a wonderful evening at the ballet. Can't beat the Nutcracker and now humming bits of Tchaikovsky's score to myself. Would highly recommend. Dd was really keen to go and i think we will make a family event of it next time.

Shop i can't believe i missed the live opening. The bag looks glorious! EnvySo glad you got it and can see even more possibilities with it.

Dry, cheap bra? No. Just no.Grin However, my faux leather skirt is a total winner. Love it love it love it. And after being friends for a few years, you correctly predicted dh's reaction.GrinWink. Now need to look at what you styled it with. Yup, i am a total copy cat.

Everyone, noooo. How annoying about the jumper! I think someone up there is trying to save your pennies fr a greater good.Grin

Kitty, I totally love that black and gold top! Pity it's too big :(

So, after doing my 2017 round up last week, i decided to estimate how much i had spent in the year by looking at what i spent at Selfridges, NAP and myTheresa. All i thought was "Fuuuuuuuck!"ShockWhere the heck i got the idea that i hadn't spent that much, i have no ideaConfused. Needless to say I wont be sharing that gem with dh.

shopafrolic · 05/01/2018 23:07

Would love to know those numbers Blingy as I’m sure would MrB
Do any of you use retinol as part of your skincare routine? Is redness normal after application? Any top tips?

OP posts:
libertyonhertravels · 05/01/2018 23:37

Yes I think redness and tingling are all normal with retinol shop. I tried it a couple of years ago and had to stop. But I suspect I started on too high concentration. I think you start low and gradually work up and you don't necessarily use every day either. Once I am working I plan to try it again.

DryWhiteagainW · 05/01/2018 23:52

Blingy I wear it with fitted, skinny ribbed jumpers, black polo neck opaques and ankle boots. Or tucked in silky tops and block heeled sandals. Also looks good with a crisP white shirt, sleeves rolled up and pointy, heeled courts .

libertyonhertravels · 05/01/2018 23:52

shop the JC bag looks gorgeous and very useful.

Stokey what a shame that Coach bag is sold out. Looks perfect. I'll completely out of the bag loop as I haven't looked at any in ages.

Justa I can see those cords looking great with the rainbow sweater! Let us know how they look on.

Kitty copper boots sound fantastic! I think I may need some in my life too Smile.

Marsha good to hear the cot is working. You sound so happy - it's lovely.

Blingy there are things that a wise wife need never disclose Wink. Your S&B bill is one of those things.

libertyonhertravels · 05/01/2018 23:53
DryWhiteagainW · 05/01/2018 23:54

Liberty you need to get this for your DD. Mine loved it when she was 8-10ish and it’s been a popular gift too.

DryWhiteagainW · 05/01/2018 23:57

you dont feel so far away my friend.

I woke up this morning with a very strong need for grey boots..............

And I’ve been studying how skinny jeans and boots are being worn....I’m doing it all wrong it seems, I need to tuck them into the ankle boot....am going to give it a try......
