dry great dress and 'boo' to the spoilsports who don't get your Christmas dressing up.

Mara that velvet dress is fabulous! Are you going to wear it with the ankle boots with the pearl detail?? Major outfit envy here Envy

libertyonhertravels · 19/12/2017 18:49

Happy birthday amber Gin

FedupNagging · 19/12/2017 23:38

I know there's only 30 minutes of today left but happy birthday Amber, hope you've had a fab day. CakeThanks - not sure about sending [fizz] given your ulcer!

Hey Mara fab to see you back with some lovely purchases. The bag is a gorgeous colour and you'll look amazing in the velvet dresses.

Justa, sorry to hear about your falling out- must be quite upsetting. Hopefully you'll both resolve your issues. How's your health atm?

Shop excellent news for your dm. Well done for fighting back.

I wanted to comment more but am on app so can't scroll back up to remind me!

Waves to everyone else Smile

Dreamqueen · 20/12/2017 10:03

My pre Christmas trip is over so now need to frantically run around for the next few days sorting the last bits out. I've preplanned my outfits so worries on that front.

Going to catch up on thread because I only glanced at it briefly.

Just popping by quickly to say 'hi'.
First day of hols here so it is a bit manic to say the least. Haven't wrapped presents and have secreted them all around the house so it will be a challenge to find them all to wrap them!
Anyway
Mara it is good to see you back and has been ages. Love all the velvet purchases.
Dry I agree with Lib, boo to anyone who doesn't 'get' your Xmas outfits - they all sound fab! I like the Oasis dress for you too, very you.

I think it might be PJs for us on Xmas day as we are at home and not entertaining anyone.
Lib I like your DD's style!
One I hope you are bearing up well.
Justa sorry to hear about your sis and hope it is something you can sort out soon.
Shop that's great news about your DM. Sorry things have been a bit stressful with family recently. Night out with Sleep sounded great though. I did smile at you saying DS found the party loud and preferred reading a book - he doesn't take after you then??
Amber - sorry I missed it, but belated happy birthday.

I managed to snag some bargainous Chloe Lauren on eBay but I think I need some advice on how to wear them - they feel out of my comfort zone atm though I have been looking for some block heels for ages. Mara (and Blingy?) how do you wear them? FedUp I know you have had a lot of wear out of your dupes. And JustA how do you think you will wear them? They look really pretty with the scalloped edge.

Ok, must head back to the kids. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more...

shopafrolic · 20/12/2017 15:53

LOL Bernice - definitely his father’s son Grin

My faith has been restored in Rockins - they emailed me to tell me they have 2 pink leopard print scarves back in stock and honoured the original Black Friday discount so I have re-ordered. Smile

Bernice tell me more about your one item 2018 challenge board?

OP posts:
BerniceBobsHerHair · 20/12/2017 21:52

Oh, have been reading the 'no spend' thread and toying with a spending ban / low spend ... I am generally really bad at self denial though, but I have bought a lot this year (though have worn most of it) and need to reduce next year. So I was pondering aiming to buy just one item a month ... lib did you think about doing that at one stage?

shopafrolic · 21/12/2017 09:44

Bernice so are the items on there ones that you own or one's that you are considering buying?
I have ordered a dress for the party in Jan. Will link if any good. It's an MK one from NaP in the sale. Fingers crossed as there are slim pickings out there at the moment.

libertyonhertravels · 21/12/2017 09:49

Bernice I had the idea of just ten items for the year last year which was a total fail! Neither DH or I are working yet so I am on a no spend anyway. That said, I like the idea of buying less.

Everyonelovessparkles · 21/12/2017 10:03

What I did for A/W was think about things I wanted / needed and tried to stick to that, rather than just buying on a whim. It definitely helped but I still bought ‘extras’. Lucky buy with the Chloe shoes bernice, they are pretty. Which colour did you get? I see them being for dresses / skirts.

Happy belated birthday amber. Hope you’re feeling better.

Love the blue dress mara. Lovely to see you back!

What a shame about the party miseries dry, I think you’re Xmas outfits are very creative! Nice oasis dress.

Hope you had a good holiday dream.

That’s a nice idea lib about the presents. At DDs school, there is a present room at the Xmas fair where the kids can choose something and wrap it for parents. Can’t wait to see what DD chose for us.

Hope the MK dress Is a keeper shop.

Out tonight with friends. Quite mild here. Not sure what to wear yet. Maybe the DVF stripey dress or leather skirt. Just enjoying a quiet coffee before the madness of the next 2 weeks.

maradesbois · 21/12/2017 13:49

Hi All,

Bernice good eBay purchase, what colour/material did you get? I ask as mine are a v pale nude so only work for summer with bare legs. I wore them loads with cropped flared jeans as well as with dresses.

Everyone I think your dd’s choice will be sparkly!

I have bought an awful lot recently so need to calm it down in the new year. Would like to think more about buying what I actually need though. Am very good at finding things that make my heart sing but much less so at the everyday basics.

On my way to the Wallace Collection then for drinks with friends, love it there at this time of the year, something very festive about all the gilding and velvet. Now that all the Christmas gifts are bought am having a welcome break from shops real or virtual until the new year.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 21/12/2017 14:03

shop yes it's things I'm thinking of buying. Internet browsing is a killer for me - I always spot things I like but don't need!
mara they are navy leather. I did think cropped jeans would work. now I need some cropped jeans
everyone I did want block heels to wear with skirts / dresses I prefer to wear opaques which wouldn't show off the scalloping and is one of my reservations. Maybe I need to start wearing nude tights?
Another q - am wondering about adding a rubber sole as they seem quite delicate for outside but feels a bit like I will be cheapening the shoes if that makes sense?
shop hope the mk dress is a keeper - interested to see what you go for.
Hope you both have good nights out mara and everyone!

AmberNectarine · 21/12/2017 14:05

Thanks all, for birthday wishes! DH did well, got me sparkly Loubs, a black Saint Laurent clutch and some Dinny Hall earrings. Very spoilt and very happy!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 21/12/2017 14:12

fab gifts amber i hope you had a fab birthday

im feeling brighter since having my injection yesterday, just glad its lifted my mood as i was really struggling prior to it

maradesbois · 21/12/2017 14:45

Wow Amber, your dh is so good at gifts and knows your taste well. You feeling any better?

One you did well to get out of London today, am travelling by train tomorrow and dreading it because of the strikes. Is a nightmare the weekend before Christmas at the best of times Xmas Smile

AmberNectarine · 21/12/2017 17:51

Without wishing to discredit him, we did a walk round Selfridges together first 😄

Everyonelovessparkles · 21/12/2017 18:06

Ha ha amber, I was just going to say that your DH needs to have a word with my DH about presents!GrinGrin

shopafrolic · 21/12/2017 18:11

Gorgeous gifts Amber I need to set my sights higher - I sent DH and DS to John Lewis with an ideas list all sub £50 Grin

Lovely Shop, get mine on Saturday.

Amber those shoes are spectacular.

Haven’t given DH any Christmas guidance....bit worried Hmm

Mara I cant believe I’ve never done the Wallace Collection, it’s in my wish list for the NY. Have missed seeing London Christmas lights this year although my town looks really festive this year (not London scale though!)

MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2017 19:59

Me too Dry, well I have for some but put up the challenge for the rest. I know it’s a Liberty delivery. Nervous. But I don’t want to always know, fancy a surprise

Very glam Shop

Love the Choos Amber

Have fun Mara I’d like to go, hadn’t thought of it

Ah I love wrapping presents

MarshaBradyo · 21/12/2017 20:27

Loubs!

FedupNagging · 21/12/2017 21:27

Bernice well done on the chloe ebay purchase. My dupes suited me better with cropped flares and 7/8's rather than dresses although they did look nice with opaques and the whistles zebra dress. They're now in retirement until better weather Grin

Gorgeous shoes Amber. Definitely car to bar footwear!

I've been wanting to visit the Wallace collection for a couple of years but never made it so maybe a museum MU is needed.

maradesbois · 22/12/2017 09:33

Morning!

Bernice, ok, here’s my shoe advice for what it’s worth - no nude tights if you don’t wear them anyway they are not you. I wouldn’t add a rubber sole either, it sounds ugly. I think as fedup says they are more of a fair weather shoe to be worn without tights. They would work with most jeans I think as well as skirts & dresses. It’s Chloe so kind of loose and unstructured with a nod to 70s which I think should work with your existing wardrobe, you shouldn’t have to buy more stuff to match the shoes or it defeats the object of the bargain.

Amber Grin, good job nonetheless.

Shop good news on the scarf and honouring the discount.

Dry no idea for dh gift to me either, could go either way but didn’t ask for anything in particular, I need some surprises in life! I mentioned ages ago would like another small bag but he just did the eyebrow thing and said something about already having ‘quite a collection’ so am not hopeful!

Train strike is cancelled hooray! Can’t wait to go home for Christmas, festivities start with a party at friends tonight and Elf at the cinema tomorrow morning with all the family Xmas Smile
