Great thread! Are the Gap jeans the slimming ones? And which are the Uniqlo legging/jeggings?

shopafrolic · 18/12/2017 18:08

Welcome fish -- These are the GAP jeans

Welcome fish.

Mara great to see you back. Great boot purchases. I have to hear the job story. Will pm you!

We are taking DD Christmas shopping today so she can buy gifts for us. Can't wait to see what she picks Grin

kittyhello · 18/12/2017 20:14

Hello, long time no post Blush

Lib lovely to hear you're settling into NZ life

Mara lovely to see you back, love both pairs of boots.

Shop wonderful news about dm's money. At long last.

Sadly no fashion news or purchases from me. I seem to have lost my fashion mojo Shock I need some new items to freshen up my wardrobe.

Still on the hunt for boots and a coat. I know what I want, I just want to buy them at the right price Grin

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2017 21:03

Mara so happy to see you! Really missed your posts and beautiful links, love what you bought. So pleased re the champagne too, still.

Shop my dc have a thing about noisy parties too, some have been so loud they just don't love it

Kitty good time of the year to buy coat and boots, good to see what you go for

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2017 21:04

Amber absolutely - better be! Argh for you, I hope you are feeling better, big day tomorrow

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2017 21:04

For you I mean!

MarshaBradyo · 18/12/2017 21:05

Lib let us know what you get, nice idea

libertyonhertravels · 18/12/2017 22:15

We are giving her 40 dollars "Marsha* 20 for each of us. She's already asked if she finds something nice for each of us at 10 dollars can she keep the remaining 20 for herself! I secretly like her style but have told her 'no way' Grin

Shop I missed the update about your Mum's money. Fantastic news and well done you for persisting on the case. They didn't make it easy for you.

Kitty I have my eye on a coat for the sales too. Fingers crossed for good discounts.

DH has taken DD out for a couple of hours so I have managed to get the Santa stuff wrapped and hidden away. It's like a stealth operation here as we hiding gifts in a very small holiday home and are moving to new place in a couple of days.

libertyonhertravels · 18/12/2017 22:16

Soz for all the typos!

maradesbois · 19/12/2017 10:19

Morning,

Thanks for the warm welcome back, Shop you are a sweetheart.

Lib will pm you back. Dd sounds as canny as my ds!

Amber hope you are looking after yourself, sounds nasty, take care.

Here are the rest of my purchases. Finally went for this green silk midi dress from Massimo Dutti which Stokey linked for me a while back. I love it, not generally too keen on MD fabrics but this is silk.

Now time for velvetphobes to look away! Was introduced to US label Staud by a friend, the clothes are not for me but love the bags and picked up this crushed velvet bucket bag in NAP sale last week.

Also got this deep blue velvet dress from masscob in the Black Friday promotions. Going to wear it for Christmas Day with a skinny black polo neck under then for NYE party on its own.

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2017 10:36

Mara Love both those dresses for you. Gorgeous.
I am panic wrapping miniShop's presents before I pick him up from school at lunchtime. Hopefully I can relax from then on in. This has been a tough few weeks with the older generation of my family so I will be glad to stop.

Meant to say thanks for the zelens eye cream reccie shop it is truly wonderful it's taken about 5 years off and made my under eyes much smoother.

Need to catch up a bit more have been busy and tbh a bit depressed. Have had a falling out with dsis ☹

Nothing in particular on my sales list. The new collection of apc bags is lush though

justasecond · 19/12/2017 10:51

MY WIFI IS BACK!!!!Xmas Grin

Happy birthday Amber

Mara so lovely that you’re back. Both boots are fab and the dresses, particularly the beautiful crushed velvet blue, will look incredible on you. You really do have a definite style and know your colours so well.

Shop fantastic news for your mother. What a relief.

Well, I went to a Christmas Party last nigh......wore my mistletoe headdress, felt a Pratt, no one got it. Will keep Christmas dressing up for work I think Xmas Hmm

Have had a couple of days blitzing Christmas. Who knew you can freeze par-boiled spuds? I’m trying to cook and freeze ahead as much as possible, and use foil disposable baking trays for everything to cut down on washing up —sorry planet—

I’ve bought a dress....hang on

DryWhiteagainW · 19/12/2017 13:37

here such a good price. Really love it. May wear it for Xmas day (bit overdressed but hey)...........any ideas on shoe colour? I’m thinking metallic, would red be too much?

Also I’ll absolutely second those Gap super stretchy skinnies you recommended shop. So comfy and keep their shape.

justasecond · 19/12/2017 14:01

Lovely dress dry can see you looking lovely in that!
Thanks shop it is indeed tough, brewing for a while though.

I've decided to cheer myself up with something in the sale but not 100% sure. What do we think of Chloe Lauren pumps for me? I think mara has a pair? I would mainly wear with casual, a heel would make a nice change from flats . Have also seen some gianvito Rossi pumps with a slightly lower heel but I think they may be a little formal. Can't link atm unfortunately but might be good for blingy? They are called the Langley pump

maradesbois · 19/12/2017 14:55

Waves to justa Smile. Sorry about your falling out with dsis, hope it is the kind of situation where it had to happen to clear the air and that after a while you can get back on track. Am sure she is feeling sad too.

I love the Chloé pumps & would recommend if you're in the market for a lowish block heel. They are super comfortable, fit is large though, go down half a size. They are a much softer look than some of your other choices from what I recall though - thinking about the pointy Kirkwoods and the black (givenchy?).

Dry the dress is very you and will be great for Christmas Day. Round your way is similar to our neck of the woods, we dress up to sit in the house all day! Red shoes would look great I think otherwise black or metallic. Well done on your Christmas prep, have never thought to freeze veg. My bil who is cooking for us has some crazed romantic notion of doing everything leisurely from scratch on Christmas morning with a glass of fizz while the dc play quietly with their presents, dsis is putting her foot down tg!

Am in town getting the last of my gifts, so busy, massive queue in fortnums and have bought a book for my df that is so heavy will have to pick it up later on my way to the bus stop.

DryWhiteagainW · 19/12/2017 15:08

Good grief Mara your bil is nuts, nothing leisurely about doing it all from scratch on Xmas Day!
My plan is :
Take everything out of freezer on Xmas eve
Bung it in oven on Xmas day
Make a few sprouts
Drink lots of champagne.........

Oh Justa I missed that. Really hoe you can sort it out. Sisters are such wonderful friends when it’s all going well.

Dreamqueen · 19/12/2017 16:11

Happy birthday Amber

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/12/2017 16:58

Happy birthday Amber! Cake Wine Gin

justasecond · 19/12/2017 17:47

Not sure it's going to be easily resolved sadly. One for a mu as lots of back story.
Anyway thinking about the Chloe pumps I think you are correct mara i love my pointy Nicholas Kirkwood shoes but not so much the givenchy which ended up on ebay after a few wears . I really enjoyed wearing my pink block heel suede pumps from cos which are similar.

libertyonhertravels · 19/12/2017 18:11

You sound like you need a treat justa. The Chloe shoes are lovely and very versatile. Sorry to hear about your falling out with dsis. Sending you a hug xxx

I am having fun planning Christmas food! We only move into our new place on Friday and get everything out of storage that day so need to keep it very easy. Going to do roast chicken and a ham (cooked day before to serve cold) with some nice salads, big cheese board and lots of fruit. There is a fantastic bakers near new house so I have ordered a panettone, mince pies and a couple of sourdough loaves to collect on Christmas Eve. V excited! I just need to find a Christmas Eve carol service somewhere and I'm set.

We had a minor drama yesterday when we got an email saying that a problem with suppliers meant that the new fridge we had arranged to have delivered on Friday 22nd was delayed and would be available early Jan instead. So we spent yesterday afternoon driving around appliance stores and thankfully managed to find an alternative at reasonable price that can be delivered on Friday. Christmas food crisis averted.
