Fosco the Atelier Colognes are the advent calendar - I'd thought it was only availa me through sephora until a tip off here that Selfridges had it. Hooray! I'll be like a kid at... well, Christmas!

Although... I'm not sure it has quite the same appeal as MrsM's version, and if my boys ever did anything like the minifloofs I'd probably be in tears. So lovely!!

Trip to the dentist for me too today - just to repair a cracked filling though so I have a grumpy gum from the collar band thing she put round my tooth while building the filling up but other than that have escaped lightly. DS2 on the other hand appears to have hand, foot and mouth and is feeling very down in the dumps.

SotD was PP Paloma Picasso. Growing on me this one. DS's finally broke the old Issey Miyake bottle they'd been "spraying" from so I permitted a spritz each of Rhubarb and Custard. Big mistake. They loved it.

MrsMacNally · 28/11/2017 20:18

SotD - Aedes de Venustas. It's gorgeous stuff Pest - thank you. The opening is like the vintage champagne of fizzy frankincenses. The heart is also very satisfying but in a completely different way.

Thanks for lovely calendar comments - was actually a bit of cheat using favour boxes and fairy lights. It is going to be delivered with 25 numbered mouillettes and a notebook (and a 'reveal' list of the perfumes in the calendar).

explodingkittens · 28/11/2017 20:20

I seem to have lost my perfumery mojo a bit. Am knackered and I never seem to see the daylight during the week. Plus, I have really really bad hair atm. I don't think I've ever needed a new haircut so badly.

SOTD was Aromatics Elixir, which just seemed overpowering and uncomfortable all day. Pffffft.

MrsMacNally · 28/11/2017 23:54

Sorry to hear that EK. Dr Perfumista recommends a week of abstaining altogether, or a week of lucky dips, to 'reset' your appetite.

BluebellGal · 29/11/2017 00:24

Teta Tsarina from Ormonde Jayne is lurverly. I get woody notes and suede but it’s nothing like Byzantium Saffron mentioned earlier- but it’s totally different as it’s got a lot of vanilla and Iris so very soft and feminine. It’s unusual and I’ve not come across anything like it - it’s quite beguiling (and v expensive!)

Green happy to oblige and welcome back Glitterball I’m also rather addicted to the 4160 vanilla crumble and it’s become my staple curl up on the sofa evening scent these past couple of weeks.

Kittens hope you get your mojo back soon- you’re posts are always a pleasure to read and your descriptions are wonderful

BluebellGal · 29/11/2017 00:26

^ unlike my posts which are always terribly written with lots of mistakes Blush

BluebellGal · 29/11/2017 16:52

Everyone must be poorly - it’s gone very quiet on this thread

Just popping on to record SOTD as Noix de Tubereuse (Miller Harris)

Get well soon poorly ones!

Only one more day till start of Advent and my Liberty box of delights Grin Hope there’s some decent perfume

OCSockOrphanage · 29/11/2017 16:53

Who Knew has arrived and I liked it, once I got past the first 4160 burst. I don't know what this is and they all settle down well, and last, but the initial opening is somehow odd. A couple of squirts were still going strong until I cam back from doing chores for a shower. And, now, on to PP Lyrical which vanished almost instantly today. What is it with skin that it changes from day to day? Is it the dry cold weather?

explodingkittens · 29/11/2017 19:00

OC I know what you mean about the 4160s opening. Although I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, I know it's there!

Thank you bluebell that's very sweet of you (and your posts are fab, stop it). The thread has gone a wee bit quiet but I think everyone's hibernating Wink

MrsM - lucky dips are a great idea. Today's dip came up with Rose Rebelle Respawn by A Lab On Fire, and I'd forgotten how lovely it is. A warm, musky, slightly cocoa-ish rose. It's by Sophia Grojsman so maybe no surprise really, although she's not a favourite nose of mine (as it were). But I would happily have an FB of this, if it wasn't £98 for 60ml...

I think I'm just PMSing to be honest. That and the dark mornings, no good for a bright and chirpy demeanour!

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/11/2017 19:04

SOTD is Clinique Wrappings. weakly raises poorly hand to wave hello

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 29/11/2017 19:17

Good evening - quiet indeed! Let's hope everyone's feeling better soon and in time to make the most of the festive season...

SotD was Armani Si which I'd meant to keep for spring but gave a go anyway. Was stronger than it's last outing in September so you might be into something OC

bluesu · 29/11/2017 19:39

SOTD for me is Dior’s colle noire. A subtlety spicey rose. Quite nice but a bit too delicate for me (or maybe I just didn’t drench myself in it enough)

CountFosco · 29/11/2017 19:43

SotD Doe in the Snow. It doesn't keep reminding me of itself (and I sprayed quite a bit first thing) but it is lovely.

Had a good day at work, important part of my project is going well and I've got a new team leader for this section and had a good chat with him about how things are going. I'm relatively new to this job (been with the company for years) and this is the section I know least about and it made me realise just standing chatting to the staff in this situation really helps because I then see how they deal with issues as they arise.

My perfume days are currently going Opium, Lonestar Memories, Opium, Opium.
I did venture to school in Paloma Picasso yesterday but went for LM after my shower.

The opening of 4160s to me is that quintessential "fizzy" smell you get with Yvresse, Y (reformulated) etc.

papersmile · 30/11/2017 07:13

OCSock - I know what you mean about the very samey opening of 4160s , it's not fizzy to me, I can't describe it - but I don't like it at all. I can't get past it and it puts me off. I would be really interested to know what it is.

I assume they use a base mix for most of their perfumes.

explodingkittens · 30/11/2017 07:27

SOTD is Heure Exquise. If you're a fan of powdery florals with that extra je ne sais quoi in the style of Chanel or Guerlain I would urge you to give this a try. It's a gorgeous enveloping iris that dries down to delicious soft powder, but there's an edge that stops it from being staid. It does remind me of both L'Heure Bleue (the softness) and No. 19 (the edge) and it's definitely one for vintage lovers.

Flowers for all the still-poorly perfumistas. And thank heavens for balsamy perfumes!

BluebellGal · 30/11/2017 08:28

Is the opening of 4160 ‘Lush’ like? As in the shop? That’s a complaint I’ve read in reviews. Others have mentioned that there is a lot of strawberry in different perfumes. I’ve not noticed either but I’ve only tried the rhubarbs collection, brigadoon, Silk lace and chocolate and what I did on my holidays- they all smell totally different to my nose

MrsMacNally · 30/11/2017 08:40

SotD is Or Black - selected because it smells like honey Tunes.

BluebellGal · 30/11/2017 08:41

Also in Sarah’s interviews she mentions bases that she reuses. One base is called 1990s

She also loves using grapefruit. I wondered whether there is grapefruit in the rhubarb cologne as it’s very sharp

Puppylucky · 30/11/2017 09:07

Ok - yet again let down by champagne taste lemonade budget. After reading about the Tauer LADM on here so often I finally took the plunge with an eBay sample and OMG so beautiful. I was expecting a standard eastern inspired fragrance like a lot of the artisan perfumes - heavy on the oud and patchouli but this is delicate but exotic at the same time - truly lovely. Now I just have to work out what to sell for a full bottle Hmm

BluebellGal · 30/11/2017 09:09

Spending the day in 4160 Creamy Vanilla Crumble, while I work from home today. Perfect day to hibernate

BluebellGal · 30/11/2017 09:13

Grin puppy it is a masterpiece isn’t it - I can smell it when I close my eyes. My only criticism is the Sillage is very subtle on me, although the longevity is fantastic. I wish it had more oomph on me, I don’t get the wafts I would like when I walk around. I wonder if this is because I’m using a dab bottle rather than a spray though?

explodingkittens · 30/11/2017 12:00

Yep, LADDM is a cut above puppy. I would highly recommend the gorgeous little 5ml bottle that you can order from the site.

And Andy Tauer always replies to my Instagram posts God I'm such a loser Grin

CountFosco · 30/11/2017 12:48

SotD is TKD again. Will be changing to Dryad for meal out this evening with DH Wink although it won't be as boozy as anticipated, got to start work at 6am tomorrow.
