explodingkittens · 07/11/2017 20:35

Haha, Pest, I think it has a pot pourri edge too Grin I like this game, though, clever OC!

explodingkittens · 07/11/2017 20:37

Oh judy, I'm so, so sorry.

mrsreynolds · 07/11/2017 20:39

Oh judy Sad
I'm so sorry x

GreenPolishToGo · 07/11/2017 20:41

Judy I'm so very sorry. What a cruel disappointment when he was so close to getting it. Flowers I really hope his luck turns soon.

Cinnabar is lovely. So is Portrait of a Lady.

MrsPestilence · 07/11/2017 20:42

Flowers Judy so sorry about DH's job, he must be gutted. Good luck in maintaining normality.

Judy... so, so sorry. Your poor DH must feel devastated.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 07/11/2017 20:54

Flowers Judy and MrJudy. What a damn blow.

I am headachey and not in.anything. PP Sahara Noir again today.

BluebellGal · 07/11/2017 20:54

For Judy Flowers sending lots of positive thoughts your way. Things will turn soon, you just have to stay positive and encouraging for your DPs sake x

OCSockOrphanage · 07/11/2017 20:55

Portrait of a Lady... or what!

BluebellGal · 07/11/2017 20:57

^ speaking from my personal experience there, have been where you are many times. Know it’s really tough xx

OCSockOrphanage · 07/11/2017 21:10

The trouble is, for Judy and MrJudy or anyone else who wants a job or to change jobs, that we really cannot be sure that there are better times ahead with the morons currently in charge. I do realise that the spirit of this thread is light-hearted and optimistic but most posters here feel like old chums, and I really detest the faux bright eyed buoyancy that "all will be well". I damned well hope so, but if Mr Judy has an interest in anything practical... time for practizz. [Please don't flame me; this is entirely sympathetically meant on a personal level, if angry on the politics)]

mrsreynolds · 07/11/2017 21:12

Totally agree cock
I'm looking at getting me and the dc our Irish passports in the next year :(

MrsPestilence · 07/11/2017 22:01

I changed jobs this year and have halved my wage. Only work one third the hours though, so opportunities to build it back up. Job already leading into places I had not imagined.
Another one believing it will be tough times ahead. Be prepared to try your hand at anything.
Already have alternative passport.

I know Sock we’re all worried about what the future holds, it is scary. We’ve got a big mortgage, high childcare costs, etc so feel very vulnerable. But you’ve got to remain positive - nothing else you can do really although I know it’s really tough (I’ve been through it with my DH and realised it’s harder to move forward if you don’t remain hopeful and positive- although that is really tough to maintain). Perfume probably fits into the lipstick effect theory in economics - in tough times we seek to treat ourselves to something luxurious but not too expensive- like samples of niche perfume!

BluebellGal · 07/11/2017 22:06

My Irish passport application is sitting on the sideboard- really need to fill it in before they pull up the drawbridge!

MrsMacNally · 07/11/2017 22:08

That's awful news Judy - really sorry to hear. You and Mr DofHorses are in my thoughts. You are overdue some better luck. Flowers.

GreenPolishToGo · 07/11/2017 22:40

I don't see how we can't have hard times ahead.Sad DD and I now have Irish passports and we have started the process to obtain one for DS.

It takes a long time if you have to apply to be listed on the Register of Foreign Births before applying for an Irish passport (DD and DS had to because their entitlement derives from an Irish-born grandparent rather than a parent) so I really wouldn't delay if you're planning to do the same.

Look after yourself Judy Flowers .

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/11/2017 00:14

I have Irish passport envy. All of my Brexit voting relatives have a claim to another EU nationality except me. Sad

SOTD was Inevitable Crimes of Passion.

MrsMacNally · 08/11/2017 00:49

Looks like it'll just be me keeping you company here in Blighty MrsS. Unless Scotland achieves independence. I'd have a good claim and have always fancied living in Edinburgh

PerfumeIsAMessage · 08/11/2017 06:02

Dp also nagging at me to.get Italian c/ship. Sad

explodingkittens · 08/11/2017 06:57

DP is Scottish. If independence happens I think it's highly likely we'll move - he's keen to go back at some point anyway. I am worried about the future but trying to not catastrophise!

Anyway. Back to perfume. Had an appalling night's sleep (didn't, basically) and have a stinking headache and sore throat. So have called in sick and am going to try and get some kip once everyone is out of the house. No SOTD today!

GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 08/11/2017 08:09

I will see you all in Brown Thomas for sniffing then!

Seriously though Judy I’m sorry, how shit that is, after you have been waiting to hear too. It’s very hard on you both. I’m sure a lot of us have lives unrecognisable from how they were a few years ago but knowing you have company doesn’t make it any better, I know. I do feel very pissed off that things are so hard for so many of us. (I was going to ask if you had Morrissey tickets but there’s always a slight risk that listening to Morrissey that you’ll actually feel more fed up Wink)

Still in awe of the perfume note detection machines that you all are, plus my lungs are still bloody refusing to play ball so I actually have nothing interesting and/or perfume related to say really Angry I have been thinking of PMs, and also celebrity scents, as that was my first thought of PM warning sign, but then I thought Katy Perry’s cats (for example) are probably PMs but I love them . Paris is definitely not a PM though . It just comes down to personal taste doesn’t it? One person’s fabulous kitsch is another person’s vile cheap tat Grin

I do love this thread as it’s so comforting, supportive and cheery especially when real life is the opposite at the moment. Definitely the lipstick effect!

GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 08/11/2017 08:13

Please excuse any spellings or grammar btw, my eyes are clearly jealous of all the attention my lungs are getting and are playing up Hmm and I’m too lazy to go upstairs to the big computer screen so I’m squinting at a teeny phone screen.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 08/11/2017 08:26

FlowersJudy, that is just shit. Fingers crossed something new is round the corner.

I also have no escape route despite foreign parentage - archaic rules meant that I couldn't claim nationality through my mother once we were no longer resident- only the father counted. Not sure how we are going to cope if things go tits up...neither of us have 'in demand' professional skills which would make it a bit easier to move abroad. Sad

SOTD is Mitsouko.
