Head shave to go grey

Has anyone gone down the buzz cut route in order to transition to grey?

I am seriously considering it and just bunging a hat on rather than go through another disappointing processing episode and putting off the inevitable or dyeing over it when it turns a weird shade.

I am absolutely comfortable being grey.

So has anyone bitten the bullet and if so how was it?

blue you have lovely colouring- I can't see a difference between regrowth and highlighted hair. My colleague has similar coloured hair and AFAIK never dyed it. I have known her about 8 years and haven't noticed her go grey but last week we were chatting about it, and when I looked closer, her hair is a beautiful silvery blonde. I think when you are naturally so fair, the transition is less obvious /harsh

Blue you have a really lovely dove grey coming through there naturally. You don’t have to bother having the ends toned. A purple shampoo would work wonders if you want.

Ahh thanks Hoosier! That's kind of you to say. I'm a bit self-conscious about all that bollocks going on below my chin but the cheekbones make up for it a bit.

I like that pixie! I may yet get another inchish taken off soon, after I get used to having short hair. It seems weird but I'm just dying to see how my grey is going to come in.

Im supposed to be growing my layers in but had a chop this morning. You can see the difference in my hair, its much darker at the crown and the back.
The front and sides are white.

Your hair looks fab cocolepew. Your style is exactly what i want. I have made an appointment for Thursday to get it chopped.

Cocolepew · 12/11/2017 17:29

Thank you bluesky.
This is really long for me! I usually have a Jean Seberg crop. It wasnt growing at all, due to over bleaching probably .
I started cbd oil for joint pain and it just took off!

jaxom · 12/11/2017 17:39

OMG I am amazed at how wonderful you all look.
EraArils your hair looks incredible and you have the beauty to carry it off.
I've come as Cocolepew has directed me here from AIBU....wow, really inspired, now!

jaxom · 12/11/2017 17:41

cocolepew...wow. That's a lovely cut and you have such lovely conditioned hair. Mine's going to have to go a lot shorter than that...

Cocolepew · 12/11/2017 17:44

Thanks jaxom, I cut my own hair and just whack a lot of conditioner and wax on Grin

pickle your hair is going to look the most amazing pewter colour when that grows in. Bet you are getting excited.🙂

coco beautiful hair, the darker bits look like a soft, smoky taupe and it is just lovely. Looking forward to a bit of length here too. What oil is it you mentioned? My joints are giving me gyp and I could do with some pointers. The hair growth would be an added bonus 😁

blue sooo looking forward to the new hair update.

jaxom it will look great.

Era looking forward to your next hair update 🙂

Cocolepew · 12/11/2017 17:58

Cannabis/hemp oil. I have Lupus and find it helps.

Squashit · 12/11/2017 17:59

Thanks coco 👍🏻

It's been 9 weeks since my buzz cut and it looks more like a short haircut now, I can run my hand through it and it actually moves. I do like the colour and I've said it before but I can't wait to see the colour as it grows. My hair is wavy so I'm thinking of something along these lines. I change my mind daily.

I am. I've been going grey for years and have been obsessing about covering it up but now I'm actually excited to see what my natural colour is. I want to put the odd pink or lilac rinse on here and there though just for fun Grin

Paragraph fail!

Squashit · 12/11/2017 19:35

Thank-you Era it just keeps looking more lovely everytime you post. I will be at the length you are now probably by Christmas.

Talking of which my DH bought me this today for Christmas 🎄 and I can tell it is going to look really good with my natural hair now. I will donate a not so great cashmere colour and make room for this. 🙂

He loves the colour coming in and says it looks so much nicer than dyed. UNPROMPTED 😁

era I saw a lady with hair like your third picture the other day and she looked totally amazing! Love your buzz too. I'm seriously tempted!

EraArils · 12/11/2017 20:02

I hope this thread continues so we can see all the unveilings or 'undyeings'.

Squashit lovely jumper and it will look excellent with your short grey hair, seriously chic.
pickleface I say just do it. As you can see from the buzz-dates, it doesn't take long to grow into something interesting.

Squashit · 12/11/2017 20:10

pickle you have enough growth there to do it on the longest setting which will look like a cool crop and then you are good to grow.

I say go for it too if you think you will feel comfortable
