Those of you who have had secret Botox...

Any tips? I’m not intending to tell a soul and have it booked for when DH is away a few days next month. Terrified and excited at same time....

I had secret Botox a few months ago and it didn't work at all. It wasn't painful though so nothing to be terrified about ☺

Tips about looking for someone?

I used someone, that did a friends. Then looked up the practioner to ensure qualifications, background etc.

My first apointment was a longer one. She asked me loads of questions and asked me what i wanted to know about her.

She didnt do the 3 areas i wanted. Because she thought i didnt need it and talked me through what she thought i needed. She understood i wanted a natural look.

I go quite long between appointments. About 8 months. So i dont get 'over done'.

I just dont tell anyone. People usually notice that i look well and i just say i started drinking more water and new skin care. No one questions it.

Do you know why that is? I have never come across that before. That must have been so disappointing.

It was a line between eyes and I think it must have been so deep it would need too much Botox. I went the first time and there was no difference at all so I want back a few weeks later and they did more and there was a slight difference. I am sure that if I want back a few more times they could probably sort it out but in the end I decided it just was not worth the hassle/cost!

I would think the same. No point spending the money if its not going to work.

It was a very noticeable line i had but hopefully it will work for you. Definately not painful though so no need to worry.

Tips with aftercare and not making it noticeable. I have been for a consultation- she talked me out of some of what I was after and is proposing proper Botox in between eyebrows and then baby Botox around forehead.

Thanks for the replies, the practitioner also said I should be able to go longer stretches as my skin is quite decent. I’m keen to rid myself of what feels like a frowning droop iyswim.

You don't really need to do anything. My dh disapproves of Botox. I don't. My face my Botox! I just don't tell him because I can't be bothered with the snarky comments.
I've probably had it done 15 times and only ever had a problem once when the doctor gave me a bruise on the corner of my eye.
He won't notice. Occasionally dh tells me I look well. I often have my eyebrows shaped and tinted and if anyone was to say I look different I put it down to that.

The practitioner will give after care advice. There isnt much you can do to make sure people dont realise.

The marks (on me) disappear in about 30 mins. Some people have had small bruises. I had one very faint one, so make sure yih have make up if you are seeing people with in a couple of days.

Because it takes a few days to settle in, rather than an immeadiate result its quote easy to hide.

Silly question but does it fill pores ... Probably doesn't. I have light lines and open pores on my forehead

What is the difference between Botox and baby Botox? Is it the amount or the areas treated?

God I love my botox. People at work don’t know but have had so many comments about how well I look. They can’t pinpoint it. I’m 40 and have had it 4-5 tines now.

I have it in between brows for really deep v shape frown lines I’ve inherited off my dad. It also gives a gentle brow lift which I like! I’m 32. Haven’t had it done since may 2016 due to pregnancy and now on mat leave so can’t afford it!
I look rough and I think having a baby has put 10years on me!
First thing I’m gonna do with my first full wage in April when I go back to work!

Dh knew the other times, won’t be telling him next time (he thinks Botox is filler, doesn’t matter how much I explain ) And I don’t tell family or friends.

I’m sure you won’t have to do anything to cover it up. Once I bled quite a bit by the time I had got home but if your DH is away then no problem!

Another secret one here, DH knows and thinks it's ridiculous but I ignore him.
I have it in my 11's. They were really bad from too much scowling.
Originally I thought I'd need fillers and Botox but the Dr said see if Botox works first which it did.
I go every 6 months. I once had a red dot fro about 12 hours which I covered with concealer but other than that no side effects.

Baby Botox is lots of injections but smaller amounts, it gives a more natural look.

I haven’t had Botox but I have had fillers, I assume the aftermath is similar

The area (lips) swelled dramatically for a few days, then I had residual bruising for around 10 days - both on my lips and the surrounding upper lip. The injection sites were visible during this period too

You should apply arnica cream/gel, starting a few days BEFORE your treatment. You can ice the area for any swelling - this fades quite quickly.

My bruises were a deep purple but were easily hidden with makeup, no one noticed them. DO expect bruising in the surrounding areas and not necessarily the exact area that was injected.

I would book a morning appointment and have 1-2 days off work/seeing anyone. The bulk of the healing will wear off by day 3 where it’s mainly bruising but you will have unflattering swelling the day after and you might not be able to wear makeup in case you move the product around.

Now that I’ve had fillers a few times, I can easily go to work the next day as I don’t bruise/swell nearly as much as the first time!

Leamington - not similar in that nothing really happens for a while if you see what I mean with Botox - has to kick in which happens gradually x

The aftermath is worse with fillers than botox in my experience. Botox is very easy and painless.

So silly but genuine question: I'd usually go by wom for something like this but I want to keep it secret so that's not an option clearly...how do you find someone reputable??

Seems like you don’t have much to worry about then OP! Just buy arnica, an ice pack and book some days off and you’ll be fine

I am not surprised it made no difference at 18!
I go to a surgeon. I won't go to anyone not fully qualified.
