WWW's much stricter 10yy boot camp putting easter behind us, WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2007 11:38

Hello, let's put easter behind us everyone. Mine is literally on my behind, ahem.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I was having an off the wagon moment (2 glasses of red)

monkeytrousers · 13/04/2007 07:37

Moderate amounts of pasta yesterday and lots of water.

always wear sunscreen

have to go- DS has made a mess!

winnie · 13/04/2007 07:55

yesterday was a fab day... (back to work & reality today) driving has changed my life so much. I went to visit a friend with ds and stayed for very healthy, virtuous lunch which was fab. Did lots of walking with ds. A dear friend came for supper last night and we had a very healthy risotto & NO ALCOHOL Am taking vit&min supp. & using sunscreen, handcream, & bodycream. Drank lots of water. Feel happy, happy, happy ... thanks for your kind words WWW & Batters

SimplySparkling · 13/04/2007 08:17

I'd like to join in too but I don't spend much time on MN so I'll be flitting in and out and not keeping up with the other posts. Sorry in advance. Reading the OP, it does sound like you are talking to me personally WWW. It might sound daft but the FLY threads really help me and I think this one will too. I was looking for a motivation to have just half a glass of wine a day (or less) instead of the one or a bit more, and this thread will help, I'm sure.

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 13/04/2007 09:08

thats ok suzy. i quite like being taken for an 18yo! (or however old she is...not very, right?)

suzywong · 13/04/2007 09:14

16 and a half, I think

Ok day yesterday

Toast and tea
hoummous, crudites, fruit
Spinach lasagne and salad
one glass rose

I am having such a great week off! V healhy picnic in the park with dp and kids yesterday - lots of lolling about in the sun chatting and reading papers while kids bombed about. Not looking forward t going back next week but on the plus side, I find it easier to eat healthily when I am at work as long as I take food in (cheaper too...)

Have got a lot better about sunscreen but am not too happy with what I put on - makes me look a bit pale and ghastly. Do people use tinted sunscreen and if so what type?

Bought some more flexitol to sort feet out yesterday too - I loathe wearing socks so ditch them the minute the weather warms up but just a week of bare feet has damaged my poor hooves.

Just a quick eye cream update - am two thirds through the pot of origins cream I bought and it's good stuff - has made a difference.

Batters - that's great news about your tops - what a good excuse for a spending spree!

motherinferior · 13/04/2007 10:41

I was doing OK yesterday till I...opened the wine.

And ate quite a bit of seasonal chocolate.

Thing is - makes shameless play for special pleading - DD2 has been ill, and we're knackered, and now I've got an eye infection, and you know how stressed I was with that job I resigned from, and oh the odd lapse into slothful boozitude is necessary, really it is.

But my happiness quotient will soar tonight (along presumably with my booze and food intake) because I'm going out with Bakedpotato and Bundle.

motherinferior · 13/04/2007 10:42

BTW does cake Made For Friends count?

Enid · 13/04/2007 10:43

I put nearly half a stone on in France

on my TUMMY where I have NEVER put weight on particularly before

Have been drinking too much (France) and not exercising much and eating too much bread.

So no bread or wine for me at least until dh is back from America (10 days).

motherinferior · 13/04/2007 13:31

I have returned to confess that I have eaten not all but a significant fraction of the peanut brittle sent by my cousin Krishna. It's all very well for her, she's a Bharatnatyam dancer who's built like a whippet and eats like a Sumo wrestler. (Admittedly she does use up all the considerable fuel she consumes, unlike some shortarse types who are currently horrified by their own thighs.)

turquoise · 13/04/2007 13:45

Can I join? Please? I've been poddling along on my own for the last couple of weeks since a bit of a shock on the scales - but could really do with some motivation to get on my rowing machine more often.
I have:
Cut down wine to only one glass every other day or so (but will make it weekends from now on - fridays count as weekends, right?)
Cut out chocolate, bread and pasta almost completely.
Have sultana bran and banana for breakfast every day, and drink the innocent acai detox smoothie daily with an apple.
Do rowing machine or pilates or weights about 3 times a week, o else have a long walk/dig the garden.
Pretty much always wear moisturiser with about factor 12 in - is that good enough?
Will definitely need to get back to early bedtimes once term starts again.
Do I get in?

WideWebWitch · 13/04/2007 14:23

Batters, how does your dp make salad high cal? Bacon? Oil? Do tell! But good on the walking.

Nappies, well done on portions of fruit and veg and on turning down wine. We'll sort you out yet.

Winne, well done on no booze and happiness front, I'm so pleased to hear it. Driving is brilliant isn't it?

Simplysparkling, erm HALF A GLASS? HALF A GLASS? Good lord. I could give that up like a shot, a half a glass a day habit. But welcome anyway.

Puddle, that sounds idyllic. Me too re finding it easier when I'm at work. I have used Flexitol for the last 3 days and it's helped, definitely. Hmm, Origins you say?

MI, ooh, a night out, how lovely. All cake counts if you ate it although you are a whippet too so at your protestations of lardiness...

I was thinking about calling Sitters and taking dh out tonight and then the bloody cnting garage rang and said the £250 service on his car would actually be £700 so I don't think we will. And it's all brakes and tyres and things that could kill him if we don't get it done so I had to say yes (I took it in and am collecting it so they're talking to me). I was in a deli at the time and it made me want to buy foie gras in a kind of fk-it, we-should-be-careful-now-but-I-don't-bloody-well-want-to-I'll-spend-what-I-like childish kind of way. Anyway, I resisted and bought octopus and stuff instead. And I completley ignored the gorgeous cheese counter, so that's discipine. And took dd for croissant in a cafe and just had coffee.

turq, you're in. Yes, Fridays count as weekends on the wine front.

Enid, welcome missus and that weight has never been oh your stomach despite THREE dds!

So I had granola for breakfast
a baby octopus
some squid
put it on kitchen roll but still prob more oil on it than is good for me
then 100g puy lentils mixed with 1tsp olive oil, chillis, garlic, capers and a sliver of feta crumbled into it for lunch, gorgeous
half a piece of prosciutto from deli
an apple
some strawberries
we're having chicken thighs tonight, which I will marinate in a Fat Girl Slim marinade later
I'm in 2 minds about wine/no wine tonight.
On the one hand I want some, otoh, dd was in with me last night as she has a cough etc and the same may happen tonight and I can only cope with a broken night sleep with no wine at all. So I may keep going on the wagon and not drink tonight. We'll see. Either that or dh is definitely on for dealing with dd if she wakes tonight and I'm not
I intend to go for a quick 2 mile walk when dh gets in
I've been wearing Clinque factor 25 super city block under my foundation today.

I am really pissed off about the car charge actually, £700 is bloody extortionate but you can't exactly say no when they tell you your tyres are illegal

But other than that I am v happy, dd and I are having a fab day otherwise.

oh gawd, I fear I may have to join you lot (if you'll have me). But luckily, I'm away next week so will postpone having to be good until afterwards.

My weight seems to be on a never ending upward curve atm grrrr

only good thing is that the Flexitol is starting to work and my feet are getting softer

3 (shortly 4) cups of tea (I know I know but I have a big glass of water with every one - it reminds me)

porridge with banana

mackerel fillets grilled with ratatouille (YUMMY)

am going out tonight to pub

will promise to only have one glass wine (will drive) and a 'light bite'

prufrock · 13/04/2007 15:59

Well I've been doing brilliatly on all ut the alcohol front. It was dh's fault for putting wine back in the fridge for me - he was trying to be helpful as he'd noticed there wasn't any. I have been doing exercise every night, so first glass is at least happening later, thereby reducing total glasses, but I just don't want to resist. I will be better next week.

Enid · 13/04/2007 15:59

no exercise unless running up and down stairs after the dds counts

Iota · 13/04/2007 17:32

still mellowing out here

dh made me a lovely steak sandwich for lunch, dripping with onions caramelised in butter and sugar

went for a walk in the woods/lake, sat on a rug in the sun (not wearing suncream) whilst the boys tired themselves out playing football

resisted the flapjack/ice cream/choccie biccie with my coffee

so a good day on the happiness front but not very boot-camp

I am starting next week in earnest ( have a personal target for end of June)

Heathcliffscathy · 13/04/2007 17:36

today i've had two crumpets with cottage cheese.

two terrys choc orange segments

tons of tomatoes

nearly a full jar of pickled cucumbers

Green tea and ginseng

tonight will be having a bottle of wine with chicken breast and vegetables.

walked to the library with ds and back

not stellar but not bad

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 13/04/2007 17:55

today i ate my 10 portions of fruit and veg agin

i am handed a cold glass of wine every eve by dp. have turned down quite a few lately.

ive bitten my nails loads., and planted lettuces and cleaned up great pile of toddler-attacked acrylic paints so my hands and nails look like CRAP

i didnt shower all day, coz getting ready wouldve meant i had to head out on bike for a bit of exercise

um... went to bed by 11 last night... a big improvem, ent belive me.

good cancels out the bad today, no? a neutral day for me...

SimplySparkling · 13/04/2007 18:53

at batters. I think I'm a bit odd. I'm trying to cut out sugar in tea and coffee. A good idea you think? It's causing me stress and how much do I use? A tiny tip of the spoon in tea and half a spoon in coffee! It's not worth the hassle of trying (and failing - I do it every 6 months or so) is it?

www I got a bit worried the other day that I was finding that a glass a day didn't feel like enough and sometimes I was pouring myself another half a glass or a second glass. It's not much in the grand scheme of things, I know but I don't like that feeling of wanting more than the glass I've been happy with for months. Plus, I'm about 4lbs more than I should be to fit into my summer clothes. Added to which, I've got a big event (sort of leisure but work related) coming up at the beg of June and I want to feel right in time for that. Thanks for the welcome.
