WWW's much stricter 10yy boot camp putting easter behind us, WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2007 11:38

Hello, let's put easter behind us everyone. Mine is literally on my behind, ahem.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I did say 60. Blush. Preen. I thrash up and down the pool in my highly unsexy black swimsuit, out of which my norks steadily work themselves.

However, I am glumly reconciling myself to the fact that I will never, no never, have the waistline I did before kids. I do actually weigh what I did before kids but the indentation is Just Not There, as I found to my cost while wearing a pair of (curiously high-waisted, I keep telling myself that it was just the unfamiliar sensation) pre-children summer trousers today. Why oh why didn't I ponce around in skimpily revealing clothes and waist-cinching attire while I still had something to reveal and cinch, instead of smothering myself in huge hand-knits and giant T-shirts?????

Took picnic (and sunscreen) out with us today (DP's unexpectedly dynamic decision) to fab National Trust place. Not madly exercising but good fun. I have to confess that two friends are arriving later and I have never, ever, known them refuse - or fail to proffer - a drink

But, but, but, I start work again tomorrow and I'll be back to lunching on organic beans on organic toast, and similar acts of virtue.

prufrock · 15/04/2007 20:00

I've had a terrible weekend. Drove to Manchester/Liverpool to visit aunt/see sick Nan in hospital, which distressed me so much I had to drink large amounts of wine at bbq aunt and uncle (tunisian & fab cook - therefore far too mcuh food as well) had arranged. BUt tomorrow is another week.

alright, forgive me but...a slimfast shake for breakfast! (that's a scream)

winnie · 16/04/2007 09:12

Good day again yesterday.
Dranks lots of water; used sunscreen etc.,
Ate
Yeo Valley Yogurt & Banana
Starbucks Skinny Ginger Muffin (in my defence it was my entire lunch)
Apple
2x mandarins
2x tomatoes
Nut burger; minted potatoes; cauliflower; broccoli; carrots (tbs low fat caesar dressing 39 cals)
Apple

Went for a long walk in a forest.
Did vigorous spring cleaning including cleaning carpets.
Had long pampering bath.
Feel happy,

Went to bed early as I felt exhausted but somehow couldn't sleep

Prufrock, I am sorry you are having a horrid time

yoyo · 16/04/2007 09:21

A new week! Hurrah! Holidays are now over and temptations removed.

Had a reasonable weekend but not brilliant. Am aiming to be virtuous until Friday when we are having friends around so not a hope of being good.

Off to kit out the kids for summer today (inset day) and buy some forgiving summery clothes for myself.

Prufrock - hope you have a better week.

turquoise · 16/04/2007 10:05

I've been considerably better than I would have been this weekend if this thread hadn't been in the back of my mind.
Sunscreen at all times, quite a lot of body cream ( the light self tan kind) but forgot hands.
Very healthy eating - only carbs being a few chips.
A lot of walking, bit of digging. Must do weights tonight.
Fair bit of water and lots of green tea - about 6 glasses of wine though too.
All probably completely negated by 3 emergency cigarettes (first in months, and hopefully last) and no sleep on saturday, but that as I say was an emergency.

WWW - we did the extended family living the other way round when ds was a baby - it is hard, but great for the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. Creates a tremendous bond, even if you think they already have a close relationship.

prufrock · 16/04/2007 10:29

Oh thank you al, but it wasn't that bad - she is 94 so has had a good life, and I think she's ready to die, she sleeps about 20 hours a day atm. It's just that she's my last living grandparent, and it kind of hit home that it's the end of a generation, and my Dad will soon be the oldest in the family.

So far today I have had one cup of coffee, and power-walked for an hour with Roger - it was so nice to be able to give hi a proper walk rather than the ambles with attached children we've been reduced to for the last 2 weeks. I'm going to have home-made muesli now. [shining halo emoticon]

Very excited for you www - do make sure you are careful to ensure you plan for IHT properly. I do think you can make it work - you're tough enough to make sure you don't do so much for them that you end up feeling resentful (which is completely meant as a compliment)

puddle · 16/04/2007 10:41

Well I am feeling the effects of being back at work after Easter. Although I had an early night last night I still had to drag myself up this am. Thank goodness the sun is still shining and I didn't have to od it in drizzle.

Good weekend - ate really healthily but drank too much on Saturday night - went to a club and had far too many vodka and tonics.

Anyway lots of running around with the kids in the sun which surely counts as exercise? Did a big sort out of stuff for car boot sale in a couple of weeks too wich made me feel happy and virtously organised but also guilty for accumulating so much tat....

For those who scoffed when I had my colours done (and I am talking about you www!) I have been wearing my colours for the last few days and have noticed

  • loads of compliments along the lines of you look really well/ great/ radiant and
  • I have needed much less makeup than I needed today - am in dull black work garb.

So I can tentatively recommend it so far.

monkeytrousers · 16/04/2007 19:57

Hello all. nothing much to report except I a drinking much more water due to WWW's half litre bottle trick. Won't post again until I am in a definite trend as my patheticness shames me.

swedishmum · 16/04/2007 21:16

Hello. Sounds like you're all doing really well. I'm doing pretty well with the water and sunscreen and even had 2 cups of green tea today, but alcohol consumption has risen again - fairly bored and stuck with lofe at the moment. D(ish)H left for abroad at 5 mins notice today just as I was about to go to dd1 and 2's dance performance leaving ds and little dd at home. Lots of other gripes with him. Grrr. Just fed up at having no life, no decent relationship, no babysitter, no cleaner blah blah... There's a chick lit novel in there somewhere.

Sorted an extra session for dd at pre-school for some me time (I work during the other 2 sessions). Will go and book a haircut for Thurs now before I forget. Batters, 5000 steps outside already today sounds great - I must dig out the pedometer. Right, time to stop whining and blow the dust off the lateral thigh trainer.

winnie · 17/04/2007 10:25

swedishmum, I am sorry you are feeling so down. Is there any way you can have some 'me' time?

Batters, 5000 steps already. Well done!

Yesterday was a good day again. No formal exercise BUT my spring cleaning continued and it definitely felt like exercise!

MI your swimming is an example to us all and has inspired me to find out when I can swim in lanes at the local pool I will have to go at the crack of dawn as I simply don't want to bump into anyone I know... which suggests I really need to go

winnie · 17/04/2007 10:26

swedishmum, our posts crossed. Glad you can find some time for you. We all need that

Iota · 17/04/2007 10:27

I'm having trouble getting motivated. Didn't go to the gym yesterday, despite my best intentions. Am deffo going to Pilates today though.

Water consumption has increased - have been a bit slack over the holidays.

Enid · 17/04/2007 10:29

the health visitor (at dd3s one year check) told me that I was tired and doing too much and needed me time

so I am trying to do less mumsnetting and more hobbies - gardening, sewing, reading

my god its amazing what you can do with no mumsnet

yesterday had:

3 big glasses water
1 glass ribena
3 mugs tea
1 mug hot chocolate

porridge/banana
prawns, sunflower seeds and salad lunch
roast chicken and roast veg (no potatoes) and broccoli

am CRAVING fish, this morning had no time for breakfast so bought a small sushi from tescos. Will have sardines and wholemeal pasta and tomatoes for supper. soup for lunch.

monkeytrousers · 17/04/2007 12:02

So far so good today.

breakfast - Slimfast shake

lunch - home made white bean and quinoa soup, 1 orange and lots of water. DS ate all of his too so I didn't end up eating two!

motherinferior · 17/04/2007 12:06

I led a day of Great Virtue, yesterday, if you don't count a really not that enormous piece of easter egg in the evening - water, no booze, low-fat food packed with organic veg, another 60 lengths...

...so why haven't I miraculously dropped those pesky pounds and gone Aglow, then???

suzywong · 17/04/2007 12:08

I am currently spooning ready-made custard straight from the carton in to my own mouth, so I guess this is an off-wagon day for me.

white bean and quinoa soup and slimfast in your stomach, MT, or should I say Quatermas?

hello MI

hi all, am back from holiday - have been in sunny Scotland, so have had wine but the week wasn't too bad in terms of the rules...

Have had quite a stressful couple of weeks - dh is still under lots of stress from work, ds2 has just got his hospital appointment for his eyes through (for his 1st birthday ), so am hoping he doesn't need any invasive treatment (worst case scenario is an operation to clear his tear ducts, which would be a GA), my mum had a skin cancer scare a couple of weeks ago, it is a form of cancer, but a non-serious one (i.e. it doesn't spread), but still needs an op which is today, and my car got bashed (with me and ds1 and dd in) by someone in what we presume was a stolen car as they sped round a corner of a residential road at 50mph+, bashed us, sped off through a red light.

I'm glad the last fortnight is over! On with the next few weeks!

yoyo · 17/04/2007 13:00

Pilates this morning. Held in a dance studio with one wall completely mirrored. Yet another reminder if any were needed that I am in need of drastic action. Am going to do some very vigorous housework in a moment and then I'm walking to collect DDs. Eating very healthily today.

Enid - did you do WW last year? I know you like cooking so how did you find it (if it was you)?

monkeytrousers · 17/04/2007 15:37

Hey don't knock it custard face!
