WWW's much stricter 10yy boot camp putting easter behind us, WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 09/04/2007 11:38

Hello, let's put easter behind us everyone. Mine is literally on my behind, ahem.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I have had an apple, some orange juice, cheese on toast, a huge bowl of strawberries and a packet of lovehearts.

Am making ricotta and spinach cannelloni for me and the kids tonight (chances of them liking it?!). Haven't been for a walk but have done obscene amounts of gardening, cleaning and washing so that probably counts for something.

Dinosaur · 14/04/2007 15:59

horseslips pie???

suzywong · 14/04/2007 16:02

you know
Unidentifieable mechanically reclaimed meat and gravy

tut, don't tell me you've never been tempted by one when staggering home up the Balls Pond Road, bladdered?

Dinosaur · 14/04/2007 16:04

Ah, I'm with you. I used to go to footie matches, and have eaten dodgy pies at more footie grounds than I care to remember.

WideWebWitch · 14/04/2007 16:21

Eww at horselips pie.
FIS of course they won't eat it!

I am ok about ILS living with us, typo below though it says "we get a wonderful house, they get an annexe to live in and a lot of help for us" and should have read a lot of help FROM us, since that will have to be the deal really.

They are fine, it'll be ok. I love dh and want to do this for him. FIL was 'heartbroken' - in MIL's words - as the drs told him he could forget having a life etc as she needs someone to be there all the time. And now we could consider buying a paddock next to the house which will mean he can have his sheep on the doorstep without leaving MIL alone (well, he'd be within house phone range at least). And our cleaner can do their house too since MIL can't clean and FIL wouldn't, you know that generation thing. And they get to see dd, which they haven't much since she was born 3.5 yrs ago. Neither of them have any siblings although MIL has another son, from her first marriage who lives locally to them. However he doesn't help or anything so it really is down to us.

I think it'll be totally fine. Not without its challenges, sure but good all round for everyone I think.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 14/04/2007 16:22

And the deal is that it's ONLY on if they have a separate annexe, they're not in the main house, I couldn't do that I don't think.

OP posts:
suzywong · 14/04/2007 16:29

I know this is off topic, but perhaps you should factor in the eventual cost of paying for homehelp care at some point down the track if mobility is an issue

My MIL, is fit as a fiddle now, but I know one day it's going to be me and dh lifting her ona ndoff the lav in the middle of the night which is nothing less than our duty but it could impact on other of our responsibilities to the rest of our family

anyway ... .it's my bedtime

a very good night to you, WWW

WideWebWitch · 14/04/2007 16:38

Cheers Suze, I know. I know you know what it's like too, I might start a thread on it actually.

They can do this move without selling their main house though, as this is dh's father's cash, MIL has a substantial house and they're considering that would be used for any future care.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 14/04/2007 16:47

awwww you are obviously very lovely www

it's a good idea to get all the finances sorted when you go through with the plan (I'm thinking from a tax planning/inheritance perspective too). The homehelp future planning is important, also important for them to understand that there may be a point where you hold your hands up and need to get someone else involved in the care (and you need to make sure that they will be comfortable with that decision when the time comes).

So have you started browsing the net for properties ?

WideWebWitch · 14/04/2007 16:53

FIS, yes, I have several other windows open on estate agent sites

I know re getting proper legal/accountants advice. It's slightly complicated by the fact that DH is FIL's only child and so FIL has set up his will so that MILs other child (FIL's stepson) doesn't get any of FILS cash if he dies first. If MIL dies first then nothing goes to FIL, it's split between dh and the half brother. I really think we've got to be careful re capital gains/Inheritance/etc and what happens if he dies first etc etc. We can't be in a position where we have to sell our house to pay for care. I don't intend doing much other than being around for them really, getting my cleaner to clean, shopping online for them, cooking for them quite a bit, that's it. They will have to pay for some care for MIL regardless of whether they move here or stay where they are so we all know that. Plus dh and I both work ft oth and have 2 children, obv.

Aviatrix, you're not defecting are you?

Oh and that you noticed my spelling mistake. You've been eating too much ruddy algae and its sharpened up your brains, that's the problem. No good will come of it.

Well, on the one hand I did go swimming (60 lengths) at 8am this morning, and slathered a bit of sunscreen on my cleavage before going into the garden this afternoon.

On the other hand I sat in said garden, with a couple of old mates, drinking pink wine and eating lemon drizzle cake.

Am v cheery, though. If less than perfectly coherent.

WideWebWitch · 14/04/2007 19:42

no nappies, of course you're in, not being accused, don't worry, I'm only joking.

MI, that sounds like a lovely afternoon. I am on 2nd glass of wine, dd in bed, have had a lovely day

WideWebWitch · 15/04/2007 05:23

In my favour I have been doing a lot of digging in my allotment, had no booze or fags last night and did 50 sit ups.

To my detriment, I had pizza for dinner and munched on a bag of midget gems all day.

Today I'm playing hardball!

Suze, that LSE shaped hole is being taken up by DS - it's as though it never even happened...most days I'm taking him to nursery for an hour to get him settled in. It's been two weeks so far and I've only been able to leave him for half an hour. I think the recent problems between me and DP might have affected him, but he is getting more confident. Eventually I might have two mornings a week to myself and get to read a full book!

monkeytrousers · 15/04/2007 08:10

oh oh we have 4 chickens!

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 15/04/2007 08:59

i have chicken envy...
