The first one I've seen actually for sale is the John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar. £149 with a great selection of products.
Ordered mine!

Liked the M&S one last year. Still using stuff up

BulletFox · 09/10/2017 20:05

Actually i got the asos one (wanted luna play) but not really swayed by look fantastic and might be interested in liberty.

caggie09 · 10/10/2017 09:05

I’m shocked at the Diptyque ones going for double the price HmmShockShock on EBay.

They’re a CON! - they are the tiny 35g candles, NOT the small 70g ones - you can buy 3 of the 70g candles for £65 in Selfridges

So £1 per gram they’re overpriced - £175 worth of the small candles plus a 70g candle at £24 from Spacenk

That makes the £300 calendar worth £199 of product!

Shelby1981 · 10/10/2017 15:42

Costco do a craft beer one for £36 including VAT. DH had it last year and I've just bought him this years one. Includes a glass too!

I've got the Despicable Me megabloks one for £12 from Amazon Grin

Tanaqui · 10/10/2017 17:22

I saw a Molton brown one today, looked pretty but I do think MB is overpriced- lovely smells though.

BulletFox · 10/10/2017 17:29

Double diptyque?! It was expensive enough already wasn't it??

I tried the banana setting powder in a previous glossybox and reacted badly to it (I have mild asd) so wouldn't be able to get the look fantastic one this year. I'd LOVE the omorovicza spritz though Grin

I've bought asos as I'm curious to try the luna play cleansing brush and most of the products seem pretty good.

Would looooove liberty as most of the products also skincare based but I'm moving soon so can't be too profligant

Laska5772 · 10/10/2017 18:15

I have just ordered the Look Fantastic one . 2% back on Quidco but hey better than nowt Smile. Also found the last years Ciate mini mani month on TKmaxx for £19.. (I did this last year also.. its not dated)

Laska5772 · 10/10/2017 18:20

This is this years Ciate advent .. They are really good. At the moment there arent any more last years on TKmaxx but its worth keeping a look out.. I didnt get my last years one until November in store

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 10/10/2017 20:08

Lookfantastic advent calendar came today...20% off as I'm a LF Beauty Box subscriber Grin. Must. Resist. Opening

Laska5772 · 10/10/2017 20:17

macca thats interesting.. have you bought the LF calendar before? I was thinking it id probabaly just a mega version of the beauty box samples..

if you did, did you find the contents were better on the whole than the samples in the beauty boxes? ( we have had a couple of boxes but not subscribed as too many random ethings we never used ).

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 10/10/2017 20:24

@Laska5772 no, never bought the LF one before, last year I got the decleor one which I was unimpressed by.

I that the LF calendar will maybe have repeats of beauty box items but largely I think the LF beauty boxes are brilliant, and much better than glossybox or birchbox (had subs for both before).

RubyRedTights · 10/10/2017 21:01

Doubt I can afford it but could you reuse the Liberty one's box?

RubyRedTights · 10/10/2017 21:02

I've got a playmobile one this year. :)

CoolCarrie · 10/10/2017 21:55

That is a lovely looking box, is it all wee drawers?

Motoko · 10/10/2017 23:39

There's an unboxing video up now of the M&S one.

Fishfingersandwich3 · 11/10/2017 04:07

RubyRedTights - yes you can definitely re-use the Liberty calendar, it’s very sturdy. I am going to re-use mine from last year for my husband. The drawers are large too so makes it easier to find a suitable small gift for every day! I actually prefer it to a wooden one that I bought from John Lewis several years ago.

Glamorousglitter · 11/10/2017 04:37

Oh thank you for the reminder ! I got the m and s one last year as my first advent calendar but this year I really want the liberty one - worth it ?

Bluerosethorns · 11/10/2017 05:29

Is the look fantastic one the only one that gives no indication whatsoever what's in it? This really puts me off - i need brand info at least / hints.

Nanasueathome · 11/10/2017 05:40

I had the Liberty one last year and am reusing the box this year and making a calendar for my sister

Smashpumpkin · 11/10/2017 08:59

House of Fraser now has one and it’s only £25! Another one to add to my long list

Strawberryfield12 · 11/10/2017 09:19

There are several sources on internet with the contents of look fantastic. I wish I didn't look at it, would have been more of a surprise.

I am re-using my last years Liberty box for my husband's advent calendar. There isn't awful lot for men in terms of advent calendars. It's either drinks or food, and now a lonely grooming calendar from Asos. Got him last year beer and pork scratchins calendars, but he is far from a beer drinker to have a drink every night and then there were some beers with fruit flavour and smokey ones, which are still knocking around. So I have been gathering little treats for some time.

Motherofterriers · 11/10/2017 14:05

I've got the look fantastic one. My daughter would like the Charlotte Tilbury - I've had a look and it doesn't look great value for money, looks like it might be better to just choose some stuff off the website. Not sure. Will probably get the M&S one, and maybe Boots number 7. Have had the You Beauty one in previous years but it doesn't look great this time.

BulletFox · 11/10/2017 16:53

I received the asos one today, it's quite nice although a lot of the samples are teeny.

I guess the standout products for me would be the cleansing brush foreo play, alpha H glycolic acid, 111skin treatment mask
