Well, summer barely happened so we're ready to pack away the shorts and the kaftans and get excited about boots, cosy knits and anything new and shiny.
We're often scared to link what we're lusting after for fear of lurkers buying it before we have the chance. So if you're a lurker, come and join us.
Carrying on from here

I learnt a lot of useful techniques about how to present information to DH today Grin

littleredpear · 15/10/2017 21:57

Just back from holidays, will update soon

Re:shoes - the sales lady in Chanel told me to wear them once then have rubber soles fitted. I was also told this last year buying some Choo's.

the leather must not take much effort to wear out.

queencerulean · 15/10/2017 22:21

Love love the pradas blingy.
shop a couple of bracelets, earrings, bag and body oil. So not that much but more the price of everything Grin. I don’t expect everything and I’m hoping for the bracelets mainly.

shopafrolic · 15/10/2017 22:54

Sounds lovely QueenC - Care to share the body oil you’re lusting after?
Those of you who remember my DM being robbed while I was at the summer MU - I have a meeting with her bank on friday. She is £30k down (despite the transactions taking place after she reported the cards as stolen) and they are dithering about giving her the funds back and suggesting she divulged her PIN (she didn’t). So on Friday they will receive the wrath of Shop, and if they don’t get it fixed I will be shaming them on every form of social media I can think of. I really do feel they are delaying and obstructing because she is elderly. It sucks.

Everyonelovessparkles · 16/10/2017 07:35

shop that is terrible about your mum. You give it to them good and I hope it gets sorted ASAP. In a lighter hot, it sounds like you and blingy has a great day. Smile

blingy love both of those shoes but the velvet Pradas are especially are beautiful.

littlered hope you had a nice holiday.

queenc hope you get the bracelets!

queencerulean · 16/10/2017 07:41

Shocking shop
This is the body oil. Love the smell but would never normally spend that much on oil!

disgusting that they are messing about refunding her Shop your poor mum, being robbed is bad enough and then to have the bank messing her around on top of that, well, it's just terrible. On the lighter side, I'm glad you and blingy had a lovely day together

hope you had a lovely holiday littlered

fingers crossed for the bracelets queenC

those velvet shoes are gorgeous blingy

Longislandicetee · 16/10/2017 09:35

Morning! Poor Dd has been sick all night. She wasn't well yesterday but got decidedly worse in the evening. Dh slept in the spare room and I was up all night.

Thank you for the shoe love. Looking forward to getting them.

Shop don't bother getting cross in person, it will have no effect. draft the following letter to your mum's bank:

  • details of the loss
  • details of when and how she told them
  • make the point that the transactions happened after she told them
  • explicitly say that she hasn't divulged her pin to anyone and therefore has not been grossly negligent
  • say that given she hasn't been grossly negligent, the bank must refund her the money under the payment services regulations
  • say you know the regulations say they can withhold the money while they investigate but 1) it been (however long it's been) and therefore unreasonable for the bank to have taken so long and 2) under the regs, the onus is on the bank to prove she divulged not on her to prove she didn't.
  • give them a fixed time to conclude their investigation to prove that she divulged. Tell them you expect the matter to be satisfactorily resolved by then or else you will take further action.
  • finish by saying that she's x years and this is an abominable way to treat her and not in the spirit of their customer services mission

Type the letter from your mum and get get her to sign. Letter addressed to the bank manager and copied to their hq complaints team and Age Concern. Hth x

shopafrolic · 16/10/2017 14:52

Oh no Blingy sorry to hear she got worse! I hope she feels better soon.
Thank you for the advice - i’ll get typing. Much appreciated xx

BerniceBobsHerHair · 17/10/2017 11:45

Hello
Loving kick ass Blingy - great advice.

Shop am sorry your mum is going through this.

My DD has not been well and waking lots in the night - it has led to lots of late night internet surfing and consequent shopping, somehow it doesn't count if it is at 3am Hmm

Polka dot dress
Boden flats
Hush dress

QueenC would love a link to the uber flattering trousers! Btw they sell the Nuxe oil at Marks - I always stock up when they have their 20% off events, it does also last for ages (and smells lovely).

Dry there is a 30% off event at very exclusive at the moment - you might find it useful!

Forgot to say well done on buying the ring Everyone (and happy birthday!) Are you wearing it as an every day ring or for special occasions?

Fedup loved the sound of your outfit the other day too. Unfortunately I didn't like the JL shoes on me that much - they were a bit tight too, so I would have had to exchange for the size up. They are a nice shoe though. Thinking about these now...

The bright lipstick thread is making me feel inspired to start wearing it again. Shop and QueenC are you still wearing bright lipstick in the day? (And anyone else?)

Justa look forward to hearing how you get on with the Gucci loafers.

Everyonelovessparkles · 17/10/2017 12:02

Shops your DD is feeling better blingy, great contents for the letter.

Hope your DD is feeling a bit better too bernice. Great buys. I saw a friend in that &OS dress and it was really nice. Love the shoes and star dress too.

I’m going to wear the ring as an everyday ring. No point hiding it away Smile. In the office today. OOTD is black patent ballet flats, opaques, black top with crochet collar and blue and black patterned skirt. I find that I winter my work ‘uniform’ tends to be black top and patterned skirt whereas my summer uniform is more dress based. —not sure what that riveting insight means??—

shopafrolic · 17/10/2017 12:54

Bernice love the &OS dress for you - gorgeous.
I still do a bright daytime lip but my lips are in really bad condition as i’ve been a stressed and picking them. Need to get them sorted so am sticking to nudes at the moment.
I went shopping with DM yesterday and she has bought me a nude Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and liner for my birthday - another thing hidden away until the day Confused

shopafrolic · 17/10/2017 14:46

I'm wearing these trousers today. Now that the issues with mismatching leg lengths has been sorted they are perfect. Really great comfy casual trouser but the front detail makes them a little bit different. Wearing with a close fitting black crew neck jumper and my grey Adidas Superstars.
I've just ordered a hand embroidered t-shirt that I saw on Fearne Cotton's insta feed from here - me and probably about a million others!

queencerulean · 17/10/2017 17:40

bernice I’ve pmd you. Great buys for you and I love the colour of those green shoes. I’m really liking dark green at the moment. I’ve got out of the habit a bit of wearing bright lipstick as I’ve become lazy and tend to wear my lipstick queen ones. I do love a damson colour in the winter though so if I have time I do put that on. My favourite fuschia gets saved for evening/special days as although I love it I wouldn’t be want to wear it every day.

Just spent £120 on merrell boots . Sadly, my old ones have been ruined by dd wearing them on 2 School camps and getting them soaked through.

It’s a bit colder today which is good as now I hate boots to go with dresses I’m desperate to start wearing them but it’s been too hot for tights!!

OP posts:
queencerulean · 17/10/2017 17:42

Also ordered some Levi’s. With their sale and nus discount I got them for £43.

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/10/2017 17:46

Brrr, been really cold today. Definitely going to be getting my long coat out soon. I've already started wearing dark and coloured tights and an extra layer most days.

No shopping news for myself but i did buy the most adorable little purple and green tartan Ralph Lauren dress for my youngest niece for xmas. She's going to look utterly scrumptious in it!!!

Have my eye on some cheapie sequined star print boots. Just have to make the effort to actually go and get them!

I wear bright lipstick when i actually bother to do my make up during the day. I have to be honest and say i do go bare faced a lot even though i know it perks me up to wear make up, having bad sleep patterns does take its toll on your looks unfortunately

justasecond · 17/10/2017 19:36

sorry to hear that about your dm shop great advice from blingy hopefully you have success sorting it out for her.

Love the trousers too shop I'm going to look at them for post surgery as having a small procedure in a couple of weeks and an elasticated waist will be good.
bernice I knew it would be those green shoes before I opened the link! they are gorgeous, I saw them at the weekend.
Gorgeous shoes blingy and hope your dd is better now too. My matches order arrived today but no chance to open it yet. Will report back later.

libertyonhertravels · 18/10/2017 04:52

Hello, hello, hello . Catching up from Bangkok while DD and DH sleep late with jet lag.

Will probably miss something but here goes at a catch up...
Everyone happy birthday and I am very, very Envy at your ring. It's absolutely gorgeous. Good for you wearing it every day.
Bernice love your OS and Hush dresses and the pink shoes. The Cos shoes are great. I would get them in a heartbeat! They had a cream version in the summer which I must have tried on at least 5 times.
Shop and blingy your day together sounded great fun and I pmsl at the story of mrshops horror at the shoe shopping on mrblingys card. Great advice from blingy re your Mum's issue with the bank shop. I am shocked they haven't sorted it by now.
Justa looking forward to your Gucci shoes update.
Stoney thumbs up for *mrstokey" agreeing you need those fabulous boots. I always get rubber soles on leather shoes mostly because I am v clumsy and slip easily on leather soles but it does makes shoes last much longer. Your DD's leggings sound great.

We had some travel delays with a resulting missed connection which made getting to Thailand v tiring. Also we ended up on a BA flight instead of Thai airlines. I haven't flown BA in years and I was shocked at how crap they are (in economy anyway). Very old plane, rubbish screens, very poor and limited choice of films/TV, no snacks with drinks and a meal that made DD (the least fussy eater ever) cry and ask us to take it away as the smell and look of it made her nauseous Shock. I will be sticking with Thai/Singapore for future flights.

Apologies for missing people.

libertyonhertravels · 18/10/2017 04:54

Gah stokey not stoney!!!!

Good boot choice queenc. I can see them working perfectly with dresses for you.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/10/2017 06:03

Lovely to hear fromy ou lib what a shame you didn't have the flights you were expecting. Poor DD, hope she's okay now and sleeps off her jet lag fine

Up very very early this morning, just could not sleep at all. Wondering what to do with my hair today as Dp says its gone very wavy, more so than usual and when its wavy its impossible to put a brush through without hurting me, i have to finger comb it otherwise i end up pulling big chunks out Shock I have a multitude of hair bows, slides, grips, clips and bandanas so im sure i can think of something Smile

queencerulean · 18/10/2017 10:07

Hey lib good to hear from you. Glad you got there safely.

Went to a thing at dd School last night. Remind me not to wear trainers again. Despite having a blouse on I felt v underdressed. People make a lot more effort, whether it’s because it’s secondary and therefore out of the covered in weetabix/snot years or ether because it’s private?

queencerulean · 18/10/2017 10:08

libertyonhertravels · 18/10/2017 15:11

Could it have been that a lot of parents may have been attending the school function in workwear queenc?
