Thoughts?

I know a lot of people think hush is overpriced tat, but this thread is for those of us that still buy the odd thing.

I've had a brief look & like the look of the Christie coat & Cassie dress. Last year I got a dress in the same style of this years clover dress, which I love.

However, the prints this year are awful.

The Ivy dresses and Winona trousers are so fab and I wear them loads at the moment .. and the wide tops are going to be great also I can tell.

My grey wide top is looking fine after 1.5 days wearing. The slight creases have gone but ill wash it over weekend and will report back further.
..
I think cherries you were really unlucky.. not sure what could be wrong with yours.. maybe see if there is another that comes upand reorder ? 9- 9.30am is the time to look

trumptown · 29/09/2017 17:31

I forgot the ditsy skirt which I absolutely love.

In terms of rating - the items listed are all the things I've kept. I wear them frequently.

If I had to choose the best items in the list it would include the boyfriend jeans, ruched skirts, both joggers, both dresses, jumpers. I find they fit well and are really flattering. I'm a size S, XS, 8 mostly. Am 5 foot 5 and a bit, and weigh just over 9 stone if that helps anyone in terms of fit.

I also really love the Pamplona skirt. I have rarely worn anything that short, but it's so flattering and the frill is a really great addition. It looks great with a shirt for work.

Appuskidu · 29/09/2017 17:35

What sort of tops do people wear with the ruched skirts? They look quite tight (and arse/tummy exaggerating?) so presumably they work better with a baggier top?

miffy2 · 29/09/2017 18:00

OK, here is some of my feedback. I am 48, a size 12-14 (working towards a 10-12), work in a school so need to be smart but comfortable and stick to plain clothes in general. I was hitting size 16 for a while so I tended towards baggy knitwear but thankfully most of the items i love from Hush are adaptable to size (stretchy knit dresses etc).

I have been buying from Hush for about 3 years now I think. I first stalked the site in June 2015 to get a summer dress in black and in cream in the sale - neither of which I have ever worn (I put on weight and also the buttons kept opening. I have now lost the weight and will sew the buttons on for next summer).

My biggest hits apart from those bought recently:

Holly jeans (previously called cropped jeans), have them in 4 colours and wear them all the time.
Dolman sleeve sweatshirt - have 4 of them and also wear them a lot (the older ones are relegated to house wear)
Harems - have 3 colours
Wide leg trousers (like Winona but older) - love.
One pair of joggers in navy that are so comfy in winter but a bit baggy now.
Jackets: pale denim jacket. Adore this Black blazer, don't wear it enough. Military Jacket.
Adele jumper (have 3!!), Nessa cardigan, Naomi knitted dress (I have this in two lengths and it is my go-to black dress)
Love jumper (not the BIG one) in black from last year) - love it but it is heavy so don't wear to work.
Wristwarmers! Grab them when you can, I have given them as presents too. Same goes for the cashmere shawl, I got it for Christmas and adore it.
Marina skirt - must wear them more this winter as I love them.
Onyx leather jacket. My birthday present to myself last year. Love.
Ruched skirts; have in black and burgundy but sized up as they were quite short on me.
Felix dress- have in two colours and wore going out over waxed jeans all last winter.
Monaco trousers - perfect for summer, smart but casual.

Things (among others) that did not work for me and were sent back:
Tara dress, denim shorts, anything in the Grecian style, second skin tshirts, stella jumoers (too short and boxy).

Disasters that I kept and regretted:
tshirts (star, Etoile print) - washed terribly and look ragged and baggy
jumpsuit in black - try as I might I don't think I am a jumpsuit person
essential crew jumper. Balled hideously, went shapeless etc. Dumped.

Recent successes include the wide jersey tops, Ivy dress (should have sized down but hey ho) and the Florence skirt.

Theonlyoneiknow · 29/09/2017 18:20

Just stumbled across this in active - am big fan of Hush! Just marking my place so can come back later Smile

Talisin · 29/09/2017 19:29

So my Mallory jumpsuit and Sintra shirt arrived today. Love the Sintra! Hangs beautifully, feels lovely and comfortable on and is just the right length on me. I shall be getting a lot of wear out of this.

The Mallory I’ve held off on buying because it looks so similar to the Amalfi which I practically lived in this summer. But I love the gold side stripe thing they’ve got going on this season - I tried the Alexis trousers and they didn’t work on me at all, I DO NOT NEED another black jumper so that rules out the metallic stripe sweat top (which has now sold out anyway). So that left the Mallory. As it turns out, it’s a completely different, heavier fabric to the Amalfi - sort of crepe like - and I absolutely adore it. I have a black mesh top I can wear with it while it’s still relatively warm and when it gets colder I’ll sling an oversize black jumper on over it.

GrumpyOldBag · 29/09/2017 19:54

Are the jeans cut flatteringly for large-arsed ladies?

Wellhellothere1 · 29/09/2017 20:02

I ordered the black harems and black amore sweatshirt. I'm returning the sweatshirt as although it's lovely and soft it just hangs on me. 'It doesn't do anything for you' as my mum would say Smile
Can someone please talk me into keeping the harems? I love, love, love them but they're so expensive for lounge pants! I'm going to Ibiza next weekend so thinking about wearing them travelling. Could I wear them smart too?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/09/2017 20:10

My tansy dress arrived today. Love love love it!!! Beautiful colour lovely shape...and pockets!

RubbishMantra · 29/09/2017 21:39

I think they can be worn smart-slouchy Wellhellothere. Sports luxe daahlink! I'm a bit late to the Hush party, but since discovering them this month I've gone a bit mad for their loungey bottoms. 3 pairs of Amies and a pair of olive harems so far. But Good Gravy, they feel so delightful and comfy and the material's gorgeous, really nice heaviness to it. My legs feel sad wearing anything else at the moment.

Awaiting delivery of the olive and navy parka. Not counting down the days impatiently or anything.

Other Story looks really nice too, anyone have any experience with them?

Wellhellothere1 · 29/09/2017 22:17

I love Other Stories too rubbish I've recently bought the classic silk shirt in khaki green (£65) and I love it. However after I washed it it became a bit see through. I perhaps washed it at the wrong temp Blush

Theycalledmethewildrose · 29/09/2017 22:21

I'm a huge fan of Other Stories. Some of tops can be too cropped and some of the clothes are definitely aimed at tall twenty somethings but I can always find lots of things I want to buy there!

Nearlyadoctor · 29/09/2017 22:39

Wellhello I think you can easily dress them up when the weathers warm, easier than in the winter here. Dressy sandals or even flip flops, light weight shift top, nice bangle, dressy necklace. Fabulously comfy for travelling though.

Pastacube · 29/09/2017 22:43

other stories are just another branch of H and M and it shows. Their clothing is very overpriced and not very well made. shame really.

QueenoftheAndals · 29/09/2017 22:50

Other Stories sizes are TINY. I'm a 12 at the most anywhere else but even their 16 is too snug on me. Their shoes only go up to a 7 too.

Theonlyoneiknow · 29/09/2017 22:52

I haven't actually bought any new season yet but after reading recent posts not sure if I can resist much longer! I love their ruched skirts, Tara dresses, harems (although at 5'1" don't think they look great on me but so comfy), and have too many jumpers!! Wonder if there will be another 10% off soon? I remember a 20% off everything when I spent far too much but think that was AGES ago. Does anyone have the leather biker jacket in grey?

Yellowbear1983 · 30/09/2017 13:28

Hello enablers! Thanks to you all I have spent far too much on this season, including the derby boots, Sabrina cardigan and both wide jersey tops. Have you all hand washed your wife jersey tops? Has anyone risked the tumblr dryer?

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/09/2017 14:02

My lightening bolt jumper has arrived and it's GORGEOUS! I have taken this terrible pic which doesn't quite illustrate how beautifully it hangs mainly because I was trying to hide my face Grin. It's a keeper. I am wearing with Amie joggers Smile

Hush new collection.
miffy2 · 30/09/2017 14:23

Looks fab, MrsC! Enjoy.

Yellowbear I have washed my grey one a few times and I just hang it over the drying rack overnight. Wouldn't risk tumble drying (but I tend to only tumble jeans/towels/undies etc, none of my 'good' stuff)

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/09/2017 14:28

Thanks Miffy, I am so pleased with it. It looks hugely better with my arms down and also when I haven't got a massive PMT paunch that should be gone by Monday Grin

Appuskidu · 30/09/2017 14:34

Would anyone tell me what tops they wear with the ruched skirts?

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/09/2017 14:55

Appuskidu I am going to wear mine with my new jumper, see above. I generally wear it with oversized jumpers, tights and biker boots, I haven't worn it as a summer item. It's very versatile though, you could wear with a shirt, long sleeved t, a sweat. There are lots of ideas through this thread...

HeavenlyEyes · 30/09/2017 17:33

I have wanted to buy from Hush for ages but this thread has inspired me. Am normally a 10-12 - 14 if I want baggy jumper. Ivy dress should be a S for me? What about other dresses. All run small? And if I wanted baggy jumper would I go for a M size? I feel like throwing all my clothes away and just buying half a dozen Hush items and wearing them constantly.

I guess by the time sales come round most items have sold out?

Laska5772 · 30/09/2017 17:33

Love the jumper Mrs C

So yesterday . when I was making my list to post here, I mentioned the Iris dress that id worn all through my holiday. Looking it up to find out the name to post , i found the turquoise zebra stripe pattern one i had originally wanted (and which had sold out ) on Hush website for £35..

It seems like a lot of their sale stuff is still on there if you google. . it was a size too big but its a loose style anyway I snapped it up. and it came today! Really pleased ..

Looks fine, not too big at all. v flowy style so another thing to add to my Hush hoard. They still have the other colours still. I already had the blue triangle style which I wore and wore in Greece this summer .. It really is the best 'hot holiday' dress going.

BTW i tasted some of the rose chocolate they sent me ( and which I had given to DH ) today.. its really nice. I usually only like dark choc

Laska5772 · 30/09/2017 17:38

Heavenly I find Hush comes up big.. I am 14 top 12 bottom and I get lots of their stuff in small.
