Calmina - ooooh! Can you share the link? I couldn't see it (but I'm not on Facebook so was just peeking in).

OC the Heeley Chypre sounds good!

Pest - hope that heals up soon!

OCSockOrphanage · 14/07/2017 20:34

Chypre 21 is lovely, but it needs a boost spray at about 4.00pm. To my mind that's nice in that it gives a chance, sorry, creates an opportunity, for a related change to riff on the day's first choice. I just don't have one for this scent; ideas?

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 08:34

OC - the moment has now passed past, but by coincidence I was wearing Lumiere Doree (Miller Harris) yesterday. Good for petitgrain/ bergamot/neroli if you wanted to head back in that direction. It's not earth shatteringly novel, but it's nicely done, and ticks the summer holiday box for me. I find it more satisfying than Neroli Portofino. And have just noticed you can but a 14ml EDP for £24, which is quite tempting Smile.

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 08:51

Calmina - right, Sira des Indes is now on my test list. Am also not sure about champaca - don't think I know any of the scents listed with that note on Fragrantica either?

PiaM - hope it's going OK and you're getting some sleep and not just dealing with emergency plumbing etc...? Sounds quite wearing?

OCSockOrphanage · 15/07/2017 09:25

MrsC, you wicked temptress.... I do like those 14ml MH minis; such a useful size and I would make it mandatory for all scent to come in small bottles it would be one of my three wishes that every company did them. I got a citrus-y set at TK Maxx (18 months ago) that DS bagsied, so I use the Petitgrain and Terre d'Iris when he's out. Shhh.

OCSockOrphanage · 15/07/2017 09:45

We have a very handsome new postie who has just delivered the samples I bought in a Wine-fuelled moment Blush. Now I cannot decide which to try first... and the lovely Scentsamples has included a free ml of Milly le Foret (Dior).

Dries van Noten it shall be, and the first snort is full on sandalwood!

Calminaqualm · 15/07/2017 09:56

MrsCocoa, I am so rubbish at social media. It was only determination that got me on there in the first place. I can't seem to do a link from the page, but if you search for 4160 Tuesday News Public Group you will see the link.

To be honest, I'm not sure what Champaca flower smells like! I just assume it is an integral part of Sira des Indes and is what makes it distinctive (as well as the banana!). I'll bring it with me to the workshop. You can have a sniff and we can perhaps ask Sarah McCartney.

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 13:20

I may have swiped two perfumes from that. As blind buys. Pray I like them Grin

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 14:07

Thanks Pest. What did you go for Ollivander?

FloofyCat · 15/07/2017 14:11

I absolutely cannot buy any more perfume at the moment - I must save my funds for the upcoming school holidays MrsM very jealous you have finished already!

Extremely tempted by the Lumiere Doree though I don't know exactly why but I am loving Neroli Portofino recently - it seems to fit that "not Summer but I want it to be" kind of weather. I'm a bit about the TFs generally though as I think they're just incredibly overpriced so a NP cheaper alternative would be good.

Is Champaca used in incense perhaps? I'm sure I have some but downstairs and I can't be arsed trekking off to check

Talking of lovely smelling houses I have found a (non conventional!) way to extend the longevity of Atelier colognes - a few drops in my electric oil diffuser thing has made my house smell gorgeous and it lingers all day unlike on my skin where it lasts about 30 seconds . It makes them better value for money

SOTD L'Air de Temps as I'm feeling very indecisive.

Ollivander84 · 15/07/2017 14:13

Byredo gypsy water
MMM replica beach walk

They've just arrived!

Deathraystare · 15/07/2017 14:39

Suspect we'll all be coming from different directions? (4160 workshop is in Action, W London).

What what what??? I haven't been on computer for ages and I miss this! There is a perfume place in Acton???????

OCSockOrphanage · 15/07/2017 17:24

The Dries van Noten is very linear sandalwood, and a single spritz is still going strong if I sniff my wrist after 8 hours. My skin eats perfume, so this is rather lovely and somewhat remarkable.

Eau Indelible, one squirt on t'other wrist, is a very masculine eau de cologne, which smells like the [number I can't remember] cologne in the blue/gold bottle -- but an expensive version. I like it, but I think it would be irresistible on a man it suited... I am tempted to get DH the soap for his Xmas stocking, as he doesn't wear perfume.

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 17:52

Deathray not only is the a small artisan/niche perfumer in Acton but we are going to play on 12th August. Do you want to play?

Pestilentialone - I am intrigues. Sorry not read thru all the posts. Are some of you going there? Is it a workshop??

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 18:41

Oh yes Death! Aug 12th 11-3, £60 to make your very own 9ml, with option to upgrade to 30ml for an extra £40. Pm me or Green for more details...

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 18:44

Yep it is a workshop. Saturday 12th August 11 - 3? £60 to make a little bottle or up it to a big bottle for another £40. A lot of sniffing will be done. Some people seem to be doing a lot of homework on how to create their perfect fragrance.
If you PM MrsC or Green they are sorting it.
Hopefully none of us turn out to be Jean-Baptiste Grenouille.

Funny thing happened to me today. I was walking through town and a woman with a clipboard stopped me and asked if she could ask me some questions about perfume...it would take 30mins and she'd give me a tenner. (I offered to talk for 3 hours if she'd give me £60 Grin).

Market research for a new Ralph Lauren...

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 18:48

Is the woman going to need counselling now MrsC? Grin

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 18:49

More to the point - she did not offer to pay you with perfume Shock

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 18:49

Pest - fear not, I definitely already have my own body odour Grin.

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 18:55

It was a bit of disappointing transaction really Pest - I ticked loads of boxes, and tried to engage her in conversation, but she wasn't having any of it. And she did rather seem to lose the will to live after she asked me to name the perfumes I wear regularly....

I got to watch some adverts, look at packaging, and finally smell the stuff (but perhaps only 5% of questions were about what it smelt like...).

Still, that 25% of my 4160's upgrade!

Pestilentialone · 15/07/2017 19:02

she did rather seem to lose the will to live after she asked me to name the perfumes I wear regularly.... So that was more than 30 mins then Grin
Someone is going to be intrigued by your eclectic price brackets.
Did she say where they were surveying tomorrow?

Deathraystare · 15/07/2017 19:40

Thanks Pest but better not cannot really justify £60 at the moment with my holiday coming up. Do let us know how it went though!
