My e bay knowing EDP arrived today. So I can spray with abandon again 😀
No more perfume for me this month 😖
Really rough day here so off to bed soon with a spray of something comforting.

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/07/2017 21:53

SOTD was FM Lipstick Rose. Hope you're okay, mrsmartell

Mrsmartell08 · 10/07/2017 22:20

Just very tired.
Emergency trip to hospital with mum.
She is home again now.

MrsCocoa · 10/07/2017 23:03

Hope your Mum's Ok MrsM?

Excellent Pest - yes, I'm sure we all are Smile. Have you got ideas in mind yet for what you'll make?

Thank you all, it's lovely to be back even if you are making me dangerously curious about these Elizabeth Taylor scents. Even though initially I thought you were all talking about the "Phone Home" ET, who wasn't really a beastie I'd have associated with perfume!

MrsM sorry you're having a tough time at the moment. I hope your mum's ok and your DS1 has recovered from the asthma attack - horrible scary illness. Flowers

Perfume/Vintage never flounce. Where would we be without your benign influence?! I am sure you are single-handedly responsible for quite a lot of my overflowing perfume drawer. I'm so sorry about your poor puss cat. I do hope your DD is coping. Flowers

SOTD is Maison Margiela Tea Escape, which is a pretty and refreshing green tea perfume that turns into a skin scent almost immediately and fades altogether not long afterwards. The delightfully fluffy apricot coloured cat I met today seemed to like sniffing and licking my wrist though so at least someone appreciated it.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 11/07/2017 07:06

Hope everything is OK mrsM.
I am having a calm before the storm moment as our students arrive today. It's been hectic as hell and I've been grabbing the first perfume I've got my hands on for sotd. As it's also boiling it's varied between Eau du Sud and Jade.
34aquid- Keiko Mecheri has some wonderful perfumes. Cuir Cordoba is one of my desert island perfumes.

Paloma Picasso is wonderful. One of my best friend's signatures.

Mrsmartell08 · 11/07/2017 07:38

I will see how she is after school drop off
Knowing for me today
I need the comfort

MrsCocoa · 11/07/2017 08:25

SotD was a lucky dip. Captured by Candlelight, I think. (The only downside of the 4160 9mls is the writing on the label is sooo small I have to put glasses on to read). Bloomin' middle age.

Pestilentialone · 11/07/2017 09:40

MrsC I'm thinking tuberose, coal tar and milk. Someone may need to talk some sense into me. Think a lot of white flowers may be needed to make it wearable.
Hope all is well with your mum today MrsM
What samples Olli ? you can't keep us all in suspense well you can but I am nosy

She's ok thank you.
Just on steroids now.
Thanks for asking

flickerty · 11/07/2017 11:47

Have just received a sample of Mugler's Aura with my ASOS delivery (yay!)

I love it, I'm not sure this is the correct technical term (Wink) but I'm sure I can smell an underlying scent of cake batter. Yum yum

Ollivander84 · 11/07/2017 11:57

Samples I went for are
Imaginary authors - falling into the sea
Byredo - gypsy water
CB I hate perfume - at the beach 1966
Demeter - new baby

Mrsmartell08 · 11/07/2017 13:49

Ollivander...I now have the beach boys playing in my head :)

Ugh. What a grey horrid day. Dh back tomorrow evening. Got something I need to go to this evening and have got babysitters sorted but...sigh.
I just want to go to bed.

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/07/2017 16:12

SOTD is Chanel 19. A grey and horrible day here too. I had my friend round for lunch and had hoped we would be able to sit in the garden. Nay chance.

MrsCocoa · 11/07/2017 18:50

Oh Pest - can't wait to smell that! Love the idea of milk and birch tar.
I used birch tar ay my first workshop. Wanted to smell like a bonfire, but turns out I needed a heavier hand. It was quite a challenge to calibrate - when first sniffed it threatened to overwhelm the rest of the composition so I was quite cautious. But by the time everything in the bottle had mulched down and matured a bit (several months later) I realised a larger slug would've been needed to achieve a distinct presence? Maybe this is true of everything not just birch tar?

MrsCocoa · 12/07/2017 08:18

SotD HR's Courant. 70s Chypre. Bit like Coriandre (but without the coriander Smile).

Wanting to attempt a green chypre of my own at the workshop. With lashings of mandarin and a bit of galbanum. Maybe some hay and caraway in the middle?

FloofyCat · 12/07/2017 08:18

Hurrah for green being back Grin Have a lovely holiday and don't let RL get in the way of your perfume obsessions again Hope you are enjoying some, just warm enough but not too hot, sun Smile

As we are all feeling the love for Paloma Picasso, I have tried the Perfume Parlour dupe and whilst it's nice, it doesn't have that almost aftershave-y note (you experts will know what I mean, I can't think of the word) that makes the PP so yummy. Vintage is also definitely better IMHO, I have a tiny round 5ml bottle (sealed and stashed in the dark!) I used for my first holiday with DH, and it's just awesome. It's only opened for nostalgic sniffing purposes! Different beast altogether to today's PP.

User I'm sorry I have never smelt Ghost Girl - have you seen Fragrantica online - it has a "people who bought this" thing...I've found a few good ones this way Smile

MrsM hope your mum is OK. It's difficult when you end up in the place between caring for your DCs and your DParents, isn't it?

Flickerty cake batter!? I must buy this immediately.

Definitely in need of comfort sniffing possibly cake batter here as my op got cancelled very very last minute due to my bad chest. So frustrating as DH had taken time off work and I really wanted it done before the holidays

I'm torn between getting ET (love the phone home thing!) Diamonds and Rubies or a tiny sample of Molecule 1 as I keep thinking about it! I worry it will be money wasted but my mind keeps saying but what if it really IS the best smell ever and you didn't buy it Hmm

Dlpdep · 12/07/2017 09:00

Do not waste your money on molecule 01.

Pestilentialone · 12/07/2017 09:16

Or maybe buy it wholesale

OP posts:
flickerty · 12/07/2017 10:03

Floofy yes, cake batter - reading the perfume description it seems it's the bourbon vanilla, yummy. Hope you get good news re your op soon!

SOTD : a lil bit of Good Girl Gone Bad by Kilian but only on one wrist as I'm currently on the train to London Town and going to have a wander around Harrods perfume hall - heaven!!

Might try to squirt as much Roja's Sweetie Oud on me as poss, given it's about £450 a bottle it'll be the closest I get to it Grin

Mrsmartell08 · 12/07/2017 10:25

Floofy...i love ET D&R as you know 😁 but it's the only one of hers I do like
I'm wearing nightmusk today
Dh back tonight thank Goodness!

FloofyCat · 12/07/2017 17:30

Pest I feel like Walter White, looking at that! More like Jesse, really Grin

Oh now I'm torn. A sample wouldn't be too silly, would it? I do need cheering up - especially as my consultant is not happy that they wouldn't do my op so it might now still happen shortly and I have to get nervous all over again Angry

Flickerty Harrods perfume hall. I'm so jealous! Tell us all about it...

SOTD is Bonbon, I feel like I need the sweetness to stop me eating M and Ms Grin

FloofyCat · 12/07/2017 17:31

Ugh my grammar is appalling sorry. It's the M and Ms

OCSockOrphanage · 12/07/2017 19:39

Perfumista habits die very hard. I may just have bought some posh samples. In my defense, I have sniffed quite a bit. SO I have TF Verd d'ensens, FM Dries van Noten, which scent twins on other sites suggest is a winner, FM Eau Indelible and the newest Escentric Molecules (4) which sounds divine. 5ml each of the first two and 1ml of the latter two.

Clearly, I am not totally free from addiction.
