Great story MrsC, every market researcher's nightmare is an enthusiastic expert!

MrsCocoa · 15/07/2017 20:19

No Pest, she didn't.

Have just poured a glass of (poncey) ginger beer and it smells amazing! Soapy floral aromatic with spicy heat. Might need to re-think the workshop plans...

FloofyCat · 16/07/2017 12:57

Being paid to talk about perfumes! Are you sure clipboard wielding woman wasn't just a MN Perfumista* wishing to engage in RL fragrance discussions MrsC?* Grin

I actually used to like their "Lauren" perfume, have a small square bottle (from the 90s?) I like to sniff occasionally.

I'm very much looking forward to hearing all about the workshop shenanigans.

FloofyCat · 16/07/2017 12:58

Oh dear my bolding went all cocked up, sorry!

OCSockOrphanage · 16/07/2017 16:05

4711, of course, strikes forehead! It is indelible, could smell it this morning. Perhaps softer as soap, but it definitely smells pricier than 4711, almost a blend of Eau Sauvage and 4711.

Must go and spritz the next samples now.

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/07/2017 18:20

SOTD was EL Bronze Goddess for a day of sitting in the garden, reading.

Mrsmartell08 · 16/07/2017 18:22

Busy busy weekend so of course im I'll again 😕
Off on hols tomorrow so I shall take a small bottle of nightmusk
Have a good week all x

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2017 20:31

SOTD is Etat Libre d'Orange Hermann a mes cotes me paraissait une ombre. Like it, but it's a bit overwhelming (just had a good squirt in House of Fraser). I'd really like a perfume that smells like 1970s suntan oil. I made one at 4160 Tuesdays, which I named Benidorm 1973, but it's nearly all gone now. Bronze Goddess doesn't do it for me.

MrsCocoa · 16/07/2017 21:41

Really sorry you won't be with us on the 12th MrsS as I would love to have found out where you went to after Benidorm....

Definitely not one of us Floofy - neither she, nor whoever designed the survey materials, wanted a discussion about what the perfume smelt like. But hundreds of questions about whether the ad and packing gave the impression of being luxurious etc etc. Shock

Dlpdep · 16/07/2017 22:51

I love RL romance! Need to get a new bottle!

MrsCocoa · 16/07/2017 23:10

Anyone smelt Kobako (Bourjois)?

FloofyCat · 17/07/2017 12:33

I haven't MrsC, but it looks very interesting. Animalic!

Are Bourjois still owned by the same parent company as Chanel? I remember reading about it (probably in a Chanel biography!)

MrsCocoa · 17/07/2017 22:56

Ridiculously excited - have three Zoologist samples in my possession. Bat, Civet and Panda. Haven't tried them on my skin yet, but sniffed from the cap they are all very interesting (as you might expect, Bat is on the dank, woody, leathery end of things and Panda smells of bamboo shoots, green tea and incense. Civet smells a bit like Femme). Early days, but I may just need a bottle of Bat Grin.

Pestilentialone · 18/07/2017 07:14

Intrigued Mrs C , please report back. Explains you banana wonderings.
Floofy I am sure Chanel and Bourjois are still owned by the same company.
I've never smelt Bronze goddess Judy , when my sinuses clear, I will try it.

Hi all, can I join in? I'm a recent convert to the joys of perfume, having stuck religiously to a daily splash of Eau Dynamisante for years (sorry!). But have been sucked in to all the old threads on here... and am now awaiting samples from Surrender to Chance and Perfumista Blush

I don't really know what I like yet, which is half the fun! Am waiting on the following:

Annick Goutal: Heure Exquise
Diptyque: Philosykos
Malle: Dans Tes Bras/Angeliques sous last pluies
The Different Co: Sel de Vetiver
Tom Ford: Tobacco Vanille
Miller Harris: L'air de rien
Serge Lutens: Chergui/La fille de Berlin
Creed: Green Irish Tweed
Hermes: Un jardin sur le nil

So probably a bit of a jumble! Hopefully there will be a keeper there though. Really really want to try a couple of Tauers and Ninfeo Mio too but will have to wait until payday!

Today am wearing Acqua di Parma Ginepro do Sardegna as I do like a bit of unisex cologne-y stuff in the summer. Will try and improve my perfume vocab though as I go through my samples!

Dlpdep · 18/07/2017 11:55

That's an amazing haul for starting out. The Hermes is lovely. I'm tempted by a few of them myself, especially the diptyque. Did you put them together yourself or is it their selection?

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/07/2017 12:44

SOTD is Heeley Sel Marin, and yesterday was 4160 Tuesdays WIDOMH - three nice days in a row here, which is virtually unheard of.

pest I think I like the idea of Bronze Goddess as much as the scent, if not more. It lasts really well on me, which I didn't expect - I bought this bottle on eBay a few years ago and it's still going strong. I think they bring out a slightly new version each summer.

exploding you have a couple of my faves on that list - the MH and the Diptyque. If you like TF TV the Mac Velvet Teddy shade-scent is a really close dupe. I had a full bottle of the TF but sold it because it made me really headachey.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2017 15:30

SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays Maxed Out. Malibu, cannabis and sweaty knickers. I'm 17 again and dancing the night away at Wheelers night club near Henley-on-Thames...

OCSockOrphanage · 18/07/2017 16:13

Yesterday was the TF Vert d'Encens, but I was busy and didn't pay attention so it was all over by the time I remembered to sniff myself thoughtfully. It was no scrubber, so willl try again on the next sultry day.

We are having thunder, wind and rain this afternoon, so it's an excuse to retry the Dries van Noten. It's warm and cosy, somewhat dry and earthy as well as being solid sandalwood; it lasts, but stays politely close to the skin and doesn't shout. If I had to choose a signature to wear all the time, this might make the shortlist, along with Eau des Merveilles and Vetiver Tonka.

The Excentric Molecules 04 wouldn't get on any list of mine, which is not the same as disliking it. It's grapefruit and bergamot to start with, so quite sharp and I find it loud, but it's no sillage monster. A bit chemical, but that's what the line is about, no??

Some lovely choices exploding, the ones that I know. Something for every mood and season.

explodingkittens · 18/07/2017 16:49

dlpdep I put it together myself after reading lots of previous s&b threads, just going by descriptions really and stuff that sounded as if I might like it. I know I don't do well with anything overly sweet but I'm keen to branch out and try some more unusual scents. So we shall see!

judy I'm really excited about the Diptyque in particular and some of the descriptions of L'air de rien I've seen made me think it had to be tried.

Pestilentialone · 18/07/2017 17:08

SotD is l'occitane pamplemousse rhubarbe, which I am never quite sure about. Sounds like it might smell a bit like EM 04

Thunder storm expected here also Sock watching them come closer on rain radar Grin

OP posts:
OCSockOrphanage · 18/07/2017 17:16

The l'Occitane is probably cheaper than the EM04 pest, and if you're not in love, then cheaper = better, no?

The storm is well and truly on us now, and the rain has turned into a deluge of stair rods, falling vertically. Glad to be at home thinking about perfume.

MrsCocoa · 18/07/2017 18:57

I salute you for carrying that off MrsS.

SotD Lonestar Memories - have been thinking about you and your birch tar note Pest. Not sure what the leather note here is made up of but it's overwhelmingly dark and smokey to start - but mellows quite quickly. The opening of All Good Things pulls a similar (if less rich and smooth) manoeuvre?

A belated shout out for Green and her gorse. Really like that note - especially in Caldey Island's eponymous EDP.

Saving the Bat for tomorrow. It's not obviously office appropriate , but after a shocker of a day again today, (and with apologies to Clausewitz), I'm treating perfume as the continuation of war by other means. Smile

MrsCocoa · 18/07/2017 19:00

Welcome Exploding - sounds like a list to enjoy. You need to report back here Smile.

Shout if you want Aug 12th workshop info.

MrsCocoa · 18/07/2017 23:51

That's high praise for the DvN OC. .
