We have dusted down our Gigis and boyfriend shirts. We are desperately trying to avoid melting in MMFs. We are planning capsule holiday wardrobes. We are getting ready for summer gorgeousness......come and join us for as we wait for the temperatures to soar.....

I'm in the land of no fashion. My days consist of tee, hoody, waterproof and merrells.
amber congrats
fedup LTB Grin

My wish list would be a grey coat although haven't found one, fantasy or otherwise. Am wondering about a Harris wharf but they look a bit boxy for me. Boots will be grey leather but again can't find any. They all seem to be suede which I already have. Bag, nothing hugely floats by boat at the moment except of course a Chanel.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 09/08/2017 18:41

huge congratulations Amber i hope you enjoy celebrating!!

hmmm, a coat, bag and shoes, i have no idea what i'd choose. i have zero desire to even fantasy shop at the moment. my need for new things has gone right out of the window and doesn't seem to want to come back. i've barely been on pinterest either because i just have no urge Sad i hope this improves with the start of A/W dressing as it's just not like me to be so disinterested

kittyhello · 09/08/2017 19:43

Congrats Amber

Since Blair mention a/w it got me thinking about what I needs replacing so ordered some leopards predictable, moi? and more leopard

Mara I'm also Envy about you having more sun. -I've had the heating on today-

Love the GG trainers Bernice I love GG trainers especially the -battered- distressed ones.

Glad you've found a leather jacket Fedup

Dreamqueen · 09/08/2017 19:48

Popping in briefy to say congrats to Amber

Need to give the wish list some thought.

FedupNagging · 09/08/2017 19:50

£300 for a pair of grubby trainers Shock, don't do it Bernice

One sorry you're not feeling up to par at the moment; this miserable weather and questionable fashion doesn't help.

Queen I hope you're having a good week despite the fashion choices you're having to make Grin.

I was looking at boots earlier and these in grey and these from MV both caught my eye - although both suede so probably not what you're after Queen.

I also saw Ted Baker flats which would be perfect for Blingy but oos in size 3. Mint Velvet flats caught my eye too.

libertydoddle · 09/08/2017 23:36

Just in from another emotional night out with friends Sad

Kitty I am interested in hearing how you find those leopard print Boden shoes. I really like them but fear they'll be in the usual Boden rigid leather.

Mara I am expecting a miracle from a Brazilian blow-dry Grin. I think I'll investigate when I am in Ireland. Can't see where I would get the time for a few hours at hairdressers in next few weeks. Hoping to fit in a trim sometime soon.

Ordered a Gerard Darel jacket in JL sale today. Will link tomorrow.

kittyhello · 10/08/2017 08:09

Lib I am slightly sceptical about the shoes as I know Boden have a reputation for uncomfortable footwear. I'll report back.

Also have you thought about buying a Brazilian blow dry kit off Amazon. I have done this twice. There's currently a thread on S&B about this at the moment. here's the linkk* to the product, not the thread!

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/08/2017 08:47

Hello from a sometimes sunny Cornwall.

Had a quick read through the thread but you've been chatty Smile so apologies if I forget anyone.

Congrats to amber on the promotion. Hope you enjoy spending your bonus Smile

Good tip blingy about children's sizes. I would never have thought of looking. Did you say one pair rubbed though?

fedup I'm sure it was kurt Geiger but I couldn't see the shoes either. It was a day when I was looking at lots of shoes though so will try and think whereas I looked.

Ooo do report back kitty on the boden shoes. I often see some shoes that I like the look of but boden a rep for painful shoes puts me off.

Welcome jem.

bernice that coach bag is nice. I have one similar in Navy and really like it. Coach are on the outnet now do might be worth having a quick look on there.

Welcome back mara and marsha, glad you both had a good holiday.

blair good idea on the accessories and bag idea. I invested in some accessories last year, nothing major just a couple of scarves, Swarovski bracelets, necklaces from accessorize etc and have found that it does help 'lift' a casual outfit or just adds that finishing touch.

lib I think I can make sat 9th sept for a MU.

Thinking ahead to A/W, one of the key things I want to get this year is a new waterproof coat - something that looks smart but is still practical. I know some of you got one from seasalt last year - how did it fare?

libertydoddle · 10/08/2017 12:02

Great everyone, I'll count up the numbers later and book something.

Kitty I'm not sure I'd have the patience to do it myself or a good enough straighteners, also as I'm going to be swimming in the sea every day for a month the trials Grin it might be waste either way as apparently salt breaks down the keratin.

This is the jacket I ordered yesterday.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/08/2017 14:24

Lib if I was going on a long exotic holiday I'd just forget about my hair! although I have booked in my balayage for Tuesday and am very excited.

I'm being fickle and might change my bag choice, I think I now want a chain strap bag like some sort of wallet on chain.

everyone hope you're having a lovely time in Cornwall. My next hol (in October) will be to Devon and I'm really looking forward to it, love the west country.

What has happened to summer?! I'm wearing a merino jumper today!

Stokey · 10/08/2017 15:29

Lovely jacket Lib

Well done on the promotion Amber, enjoy spending that bonus

Glad you've got some sun out west everyone. Big smoke is unremittingly grey.

I broke out the cashmere Blair - can't wait to go on proper hot holiday next week. Have a sickly dd2 so am going stir crazy in the house.

On Mara's fantasy list, I'd probably go for faux fur or shearling coat. Maybe something from Shrimps or this grey Tom Ford number

Shoes: I wouldn't mind a pair of Rockstuds too but think I'd go for the biker boots

And bag: I'd could do with a black bag - slouchy BV number

Now I just need to find high street versions!

FedupNagging · 10/08/2017 19:51

That is one serious coat Stokey - I love it. Hope dd feels better soon - there is nothing worse than being stuck indoors during the summer hols.

Kitty I meant to say yesterday that the Boden shoes are lovely but as others have said, Boden shoes are not the most comfortable to wear.

Jem did your trina's arrive? I have wide feet and they are a good fit and soo easy to wear.

Lovely jacket Lib - can see it being easy to dress up or down.

Everyone I have the Seasalt janelle but not road tested it in winter yet - very pleased so far. Both Dry & Lib have it too and they love theirs.

Much nicer day here today -ootd is v. old wide legged trousers, cream 3/4 sleeve lace top (M&S) again, ancient and jigsaw navy loafers.

queencerulean · 11/08/2017 09:30

I was perusing new ins last night. So many shiny new things that I want and it's only August. Trying to rein myself in and not buy everything now!

Longislandicetee · 11/08/2017 14:17

Hello! So tired! We were out late again last night so my working from home had been working from bedGrin just about to slope off and showerBlush

Mara, yes, i discovered a few years ago that i am actually a child according to clothing and shoe manufacturers. Why it took me 30 years to realise that, i have no idea, given the only thing that grew after the age of 12 were my boobs!Grin I am a shoe size 3, and discovered to my horror last weekend that my 8 year old is size 2...I am trying to come to terms with the dcs taking after their 6' father as opposed to me!

Those ballerinas are great quality and aren't massively different to the Charming ones that R&B do. They go up to size 5 so basically anything in R&B that i wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in, as an adult i go to the children's department. Kitty yes, they never used to have their children's shoes on line, or if they did you couldn't buy them. To be fair i did also buy these ballet courts from the adult department, but i think i forgot to mention them as they re so boring! So i walked into R&B and walked out with 4 pairs for me and 2 pairs for dd.

I found it hard to answer Mara's 3 questions because if i knew what i wanted i would get it, but i don't so i live vicariously through you! Having said that there might be early fleeting signs that I may be rediscovering my interest in "stuff" again. Except dh is being a bit well...dh. He saw me flicking through the NAP app and casually mentioned that he wants to put money aside to cover the children's education to 21. The other savings don't count. Hmm

I am going to get the Chloe pumps that FedUp linked and there is a bag that caught my eye the other day, which was the first time i have been interested in a bag in about 18 months. By the way, i thought the flats linked by QueenC, Kitty and FedUp (inc the Boden, Ted Baker and Mint Velvet) were all gorgeous but i think i have now decided that rounded/almond toe flats suit me best. casts eye on £400 pointed flats that haven't been worn more than a few times

Longislandicetee · 12/08/2017 11:04

Morning all! Love summer holidays - no running around to the dcs activities on a Saturday morning.Smile

Dh and I went out to dinner last night - after my 4 outfit changesBlush, I settled on this Ted Baker sparkly assymetric top (a present from dsis) and the Chloe tapered trousers that Talya linked earlier this year with R&B sparkly flats and Louboutin handbag. Bling was gold Gucci watch and a gorgeous Kate Spade gold and pearl bangle which dsil gave me (she also gave me the handbag).

Lib, i keep meaning to say - all your chat about pearls kind of reminded me that i have a lot of pearls that I hadn't worn in a long time. So for the last couple of months i have been enjoying them wearing them again. Very much inspired by you!

libertydoddle · 12/08/2017 17:24

Nice to know I inspired you Blingy.

Have done so much packing and sorting out today. And have just spent last 2 hours with DH sorting finances... The pound is so weak against NZ dollar it's depressing. I need Gin but will have to settle for Wine.

libertydoddle · 13/08/2017 14:03

Looks like it's just me and you Blingy Smile

Am wearing the Boden ruched dress for the first time today with denim jacket and tan sandals. The cross over front is quite low, have pinned it together with a dragonfly brooch from Accessorise but may need to see in a snap fastener thingy. Alternatively I could just buy a prettier bra Grin

Dreamqueen · 13/08/2017 16:07

Lib I've bought the same ruched dresses and love them but had to buy a new low plunge bra to wear with them. On holiday I decided that I could go braless but at home needed some help.

I'm trialing multifocal contact lens at the moment. They said vision would not ne the same as with my glasses. At the moment I can see great close up but rubbish at any distance. I'm going for a review tomorrow. All I want to be able to do is ear makeup on mughts out not day to day but at the same time to be able to see where I'm going Hmm

I can't do the three wish list items at the moment. I haven't got any mojo. But I will visit R&B kids dept next week and try the pumps that Blingy bought.

Might have typos, typing after gin. Smile

Stokey · 13/08/2017 17:48

Hello, am here but am about to be somewhere far hotter. Leaving very early Tuesday so staying in airport Premier Inn tomorrow night .

Nice outfit Blingy

I've tried both the scoop neck and v-neck Boden dresses Lib but they just look a bit indecent on me & If I sized up, they'd be too big round the shoulders.

Contacts sound complicated Dream. FWIW you rock glasses.

How many pairs of shoes do I need for 2 weeks? I've got flip flops, Gigis, SE Trinas (for evening), Birkies for travel and any ruin trips & a pretty Bimba y Lola pair for evening. Too many?

maradesbois · 13/08/2017 19:09

I'm here too, enjoying the child-free time. Today dh and I went to a bar/restaurant we like & sat on the terrace to have coffee & read papers then ended up staying all afternoon & having late lunch. We don't do badly for social life when ds is here, it's more the ability to be spontaneous that I appreciate Smile. Long holidays have been taking a toll on my waistline though, time to shape up. Went for a run this morning and feel healthier already but am going to brave the scales in the morning. Desperately need some new gym stuff but hate spending money on it.

Stokey love your fantasy outfit, you would absolutely rock the TF coat with the bikers! Think your holiday shoe packing is spot on for a holiday in the sun, not too much. Have fun, bet the dc are super excited about the airport hotel, you can't beat the start of holiday feeling!

Dream agree that you really suit your glasses, the lenses sound like a pita but if they are only for occasional use guess you can manage.

Going out tomorrow night to a work dinner with dh at a Mayfair hotel restaurant (my absolute favourite place!) & wondering about what to wear. Would like to use new goyard clutch but don't really want to wear black or neutral colour. Have a Prada archive print cotton sundress which I picked up at an outlet in Italy for €100 a few years ago, may go for that with strappy sandals and nude a wang clutch if the goyard doesn't work which think it won't.

Btw anyone have any good tv recommendations for drama/thriller? Dry if you're around...

Dreamqueen · 13/08/2017 19:46

Mara I'm watching Ozark on netflix at the moment. It starts slowly but is captivating .

Thank you for glasses love. I put full face on today after inserting lens and it felt very nice but on the otherhand I'm happy to do minimal behind glasses. BTW 15 mins to insert the lens. Follow up appointment on monday.

Stokey · 13/08/2017 21:22

Your outfit sounds lovely Mara

TV wise we're deep in dark dystopias with The Handmaid's Tale, Game of Thrones and Twin Peaks.

Have been enjoying The Windsor's & I Love Dick for some much needed light relief though.

queencerulean · 13/08/2017 21:54

queencerulean · 13/08/2017 21:57
