We have dusted down our Gigis and boyfriend shirts. We are desperately trying to avoid melting in MMFs. We are planning capsule holiday wardrobes. We are getting ready for summer gorgeousness......come and join us for as we wait for the temperatures to soar.....

I second Stokey regarding no jeans Dry, looking at my own lying abandoned in the wardrobe. Would wear something you'll also use on hols i.e. dress or cotton/linen trousers. We took a little propellor plane the other day, at check in the grumpy guy asked for a good look at my 'enormous carry on bag' Hmm (Vuitton holdall, max cabin bag size but still within limit) and made a big hoo ha about it probably not fitting in their overhead lockers. It did though -after a good shove!

Lib that's great news about the exchange.

Everyone and Blingy I have those Chloé pumps in a nude/blush leather. They are super comfy and go with everything but not sure if right for Blingy as heel is a good few cm.

PausedToTakeInTheView · 26/07/2017 21:22

Hello lovely Voguettes I wondered if any of you stylish ladies have the Sam Edelman Trinas and if so how the sizing comes up? I have Gigi's in a 7.5 but ordering from the US so would like I get it right first time! Thank you

PausedToTakeInTheView · 26/07/2017 21:22

That's 7.5 US by the way, all their sizing is American I think

queencerulean · 27/07/2017 07:52

Morning all. Just been trying to catch up after being missing in action with my hideous cold.
stokey lovebthat red dress
dry I have worn jeans on flights but prefer a lightweight trouser. I have some from gap that I bought for my US flight earlier this year.
paused I don't own any SE so can't help.

No fashion news at all except that last week I saw someone with a radley grosvenor bag the same as mine but with a long strap. I've realised that I can extend the shoulder strap and it makes a great cross body. A great size for the summer hols as I can fit a drink and snacks in for the dc. Don't know what I didn't think of it before as it's often never worked well for me as a shoulder bag. Feel like I have a brand new bag!

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/07/2017 09:53

Sorry paused i can't help I'm afraid.

Good discovery about the bag queenc!

Nice buys stokey, I thought AOS had some really nice stuff in when I was on regent st the other day.

Hope you are having a nice holiday mara. You sound very chilled!

Happy holidays to you too dry, hope you've managed to pack everything.

I'm bicester bound today. Quite excited! I've not been for years. I've got my credit card at the ready. Grin

DryWhiteagainW · 27/07/2017 14:24

Everyone we are off on Saturday, tomorrow is packing D day I'm a packing forward planner Grin

Mara am imagining you in true voguette style looking fabulous with your LV carry on, then "giving it a good shove" Grin

QueenC don't you remember Topaz at last summer's MU demonstrating the extendible strap on her Grosvenor? You can only do it on the medium size though sadly, not on my large one Sad

Stokey · 27/07/2017 14:44

Paused I have both Trinas & Gigis in US 7. Says a euro 37.5 bit I'm generally size 5 or 38.

Love the Trinas, great versatile sandal.Fedup got some recently too

queencerulean · 27/07/2017 17:26

dry I must have been pissed at that point Grin
I think I may have ruined the bag today (as well as my phone)-dd took a tiny amount from a 500ml bottle and the rest ended up in my bag!

libertydoddle · 27/07/2017 17:30

Oh no QueenC!!! Water or juice??

Today we exchanged contracts on house, booked the Packers, booked our flights... it's all systems go chez Liberty.

PausedToTakeInTheView · 27/07/2017 21:35

Thank you v much stokey - has given me the confidence to order. Am hopeful they'll be really versatile and thank you all again for the sterling work on these threads. I only wish I had the time to join in properly!

DryWhiteagainW · 28/07/2017 08:37

Oh Liberty that's so exciting, all seems to have come together suddenly.

Good grief Mars and Venus packing here....mine all OCD folding and rolling to prevent creasing and use maximum space..... DH just throws it in Shock

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 28/07/2017 08:49

We had everything researched, quotes done etc dry so once the solicitor confirmed exchange DH had everything booked in within a couple of hours. Last night I divided clothes into 2 piles - one of stuff to definitely send in container and one for things to pack in case. Will whittle down that pile today.

Those of you (Linus, Lara, decam) who have packed stuff for shipping between countries...any advice on packing leather and suede clothes? I'm particularly worried about my suede biker which is very soft and I think it could crumple badly.

libertydoddle · 28/07/2017 08:52

Oh and Blingy, can you remind me which hand held steamer you have? Am thinking of getting one here as stuff like that is quite expensive in NZ and I think it would be v useful while traveling and when everything arrives.

Dreamqueen · 28/07/2017 10:33

Oh! QueenC hope the bag has survived. Otherwise maybe one of the handbag hospital places might be able to salvage it.

Congrats Lib hope all goes smoothly. I've used packing wardrobe like this and they work well.

Hope you're feeling better Blingy Also interested in details of the steamer.

I pack like you Dry but have to try on every item before it goes in the case. Then usually unsuccessfully try to cull some items.

After all the Radley chat on here. I ordered this bag yesterday. I'd had my eye on this one but was dithering.

queencerulean · 28/07/2017 10:33

Oh lib, it's definitely happening now. I can imagine you're excited and fearful at once.
How's the packing going dry? Are you going dhorthaul and hot?

The bag just had water spilt in it, but 500mls. It had sat in there for a while without leaking and I only noticed when I got my purse out and it was like a swimming pool in there. It hasn't quite dried out yet but there's water marks on the leather. Haven't googled if anything can be done but if anyone has any tips I'm all ears!

libertydoddle · 28/07/2017 11:07

Hmmm good tip Dream. The packers said the hanging wardrobes would take up a lot more space in the container and therefore cost more but I think I'll request one just for the items that could get permanent creases. I need to stock up on tissue paper for stuffing bags and shoes too.

Dry the Mars and Venus moment in this house is me stressing about the survival of my clothes and bags in the container while DH stresses about the TV, PC screens and stereos!!!

QueenC I've never had to rescue a bag but soaked shoes have been ok when I stuffed them with tissue paper while drying out slowly then using leather cream on marks.

libertydoddle · 28/07/2017 11:08

Nice bag Dream, I've looked at that one a few times lately as well but I do not need more bags!

Rosiemary · 28/07/2017 15:01

Hi Liberty, it's Decam from Dublin. Forgot my old details as not really on Mumsnet anymore but I was reading the CFN patio doors post Shock. Best of luck with your move and hopefully see you in Dublin before you go? I put my favourite clothes in garment bags while they were in storage - we lived out of suitcases for four months before our shipment arrived. When we moved to New York years, we sent some stuff by air so it arrived soon after we did as again the shipment took weeks to arrive, can you do that? Exciting times for you.

Hi to everyone else if anyone remembers me!

libertydoddle · 28/07/2017 16:16

Hi Rosie Smile. Emailing you is on one of my many 'to do' lists as I will be in Dublin and it would be great to catch up. We are going to airfreight a few things but we are spending a bit of time in SE Asia too so have to send things to friends and I don't want to have to send stuff with instructions to unpack and hang it up!

Off to read the patio doors thread - sounds intriguing!

Everyonelovessparkles · 28/07/2017 17:17

Oooo exciting times lib Smile

Your DH sounds like mine dry. I now get stuff out for him so I can vet it before he puts it in the suitcase after experiences of him taking some dubious items. Have a great hols. Hope you stayed within the 22kg limit Wink

I had an enjoyable trip to bicester. It was nice looking round but only thing I ended up buying was a tshirt for DS. Whilst they have the big designers at bicester, I think gun wharf in Portsmouth is better for high st / high end high st as the units seem to be bigger than at bicester. I tried on a few dresses in DVF and they had some nice stuff in D&G (they had quite a few of the banana print stuff WIT featured on her instagram) but unfortunately I dont have a need for those kind of dresses / gowns. I did order this DVF dress from the outnet. I really like it, it will be really great for smart casual work and weekend things. I also ordered www.theoutnet.com/en-GB/Shop/Product/Diane-von-Furstenberg/Bianka-pleated-printed-georgette-wrap-dress/953484 this one]] but it's going back. The sleeves are very voluminous and I just didn't like it on.

Got a BBQ tomorrow so hope the weather brightens up as heavy rain is forecasted. The DC have been quite hard work today so just about the make a very large 🍸Grin

Dreamqueen · 28/07/2017 17:41

The CFN patio thread kept me amused all morning.

I've had a pyjama day. Went out last night and felt slightly delicate this morning so decided to do nothing and didn't bother getting dressed. I've thoroughlt enjoyed it. Wearing clean pyjamas now. Bought some great bargains navy suede boots and birkenstocks

Are you all packed Dry?

queencerulean · 28/07/2017 17:48

Hi rosie good to see you again. Hope you're well.
everyone I'm about to join you. With this cold, I haven't had a drink for a whole week!! Can't decide on wine, prosecco or gin though....
everyone was coach any good at Bicester? Not sure I'd be that intestersted in designer clothes as I reckon they'd still be out my price range but a bag I could get excited about. Doubt it's worth the trek up there though?
I've treated the bag with leather cream so fingers crossed. The phone seems to be officially dead though.

queencerulean · 28/07/2017 17:56

Love those dream. Similar to the grey Hudsons I had but had to return as they all watermarked and ruined at the to cap. Hope to find some other grey boots this winter.

Going to read the patio thread. Did anyone read the one about clothes shops that had closed down-real nostalgic reading! Also the smash hits thread!

Everyonelovessparkles · 28/07/2017 18:08

There were some nice things in coach but then they often have good sales (I got a really nice hobo bag last year for £134 reducers from around £350). But you reminded me that I meant to say coach are on the outnet now. There's quite a good selection and most stuff is about half price. I wouldn't say the coach store was a big enough incentive to go to bicester. Yes the designer stuff was still pretty £££ and quite a few things were in the NAP / matches sale or on the outnet any way.

Rosiemary · 28/07/2017 18:58

Waves to Queen. Start with a G&T,, then a glass of prosecco and move onto wine? Grin

What do you think of these shoes to go with this dress for a family wedding? Are the shoes too twee? Tried them on earlier but can't decide. I wanted these &OS shoes but they cancelled the order. Maybe I can find them in store.

Cool dress, Everyone.
