Little things that mean Style Death

I read the other day that one of the worst things you can do style-wise is to miss out a belt loop on your trousers. I've never done this, but I do permanently have a hair bobble around my wrist. This is apparently a big NO. What other little things should I not be doing?

This thread is not mean.
It has been fun and I hope it continues.

PickAChew · 26/05/2017 00:50

Bunchy elasticated waist skirts are a current revival, known now as paper bag skirts.

PickAChew · 26/05/2017 00:52

Walking shoes are prett much essential in Durham, Caulkhead

have you seen them hills and cobbles? The whole city stops and watches when some fool tries to navigate Silver Street in 5" stilettos :o

toffeeboffin · 26/05/2017 01:26

It's not mean, just observations.

I wear waterfall cardigans that apparently look like a vulva but I couldn't care less. I'll continue to wear them ta very much.

MonicaInPearls · 26/05/2017 01:36

To be fair I probably wear a lot if things on this list occasionally more often than I care to admit and I still find it funny - I'm a cracker when I need to be and elasticated waist fleece woman sometimes.

If it was singling out and identifying people it would be mean but it's all done in a self aware way ( and some good tips might come out of it)

Theycalledmethewildrose · 26/05/2017 01:50

I really don't give a shit how stylish I am. Some of us genuinely don't care.

I admire this attitude but I cannot fathom why you are on a style and beauty forum if it is indeed true.

LadyB49 · 26/05/2017 02:04

One of my favourite outfits is a fine linen double layered dress, quite long, with leggings !! It's the only way to wear a dress and hide my varicose veins......

sugarbeep9 · 26/05/2017 02:21

i like visible ankle socks because if i don't see them i imagine sweaty smelly feet.

SallyVating · 26/05/2017 02:38

I'm fucked on the trainer sock thing cos they always come up to my ankles. Even in the smallest size.

I'm doooomed

MrsLucyEmerson · 26/05/2017 05:26

I respect anyone's choice to wear whatever they want...but those Irregular Choice shoes! You couldn't pay me to wear them!

dudsville · 26/05/2017 05:43

This is my favourite post of the day so far. ..
Don't beat yourself up about it @IfYouGoDown. I've been wearing bobbles on my wrist for more than 30 years. How do you think I feel?

Fabulous!

BitOutOfPractice · 26/05/2017 06:40

Oh yes yes yes. This

They are almost up there (or rather down there) with crocs in my estimation. Probably worse since their wearers are all so damn pleased with themselves for being so "out there"

BitOutOfPractice · 26/05/2017 06:40

OP I currently have 2 bobbles on my wrist

FunkinEll · 26/05/2017 07:06

My wrist are too chunky for bobbles otherwise I'd keep them there too. They just cut off my circulation otherwise.

ememem84 · 26/05/2017 07:19

An observation from me yesterday. Walking through town at lunchtime. The first of the seasons grockels could be seen (holiday makers for those unfamiliar with the term).

You could smell the sunscreen a mile away. Didn't suprise me to see older retirement grockel ladies in skinny strap vests/camis leggings/skirts/shorts with rather painful looking sunburn not wearing bras. White camis. No bras. They were not small boobed either.

I get not wearing a bra. I understand if you're sunburnt you may not want anything really touching your skin. But very thin white cami???? No. They may as well not have bothered. You could see everything.

CupOfTeaAndAGoodBook · 26/05/2017 07:26

I fear I know the answer to this but is laces showing on trainers/Converse etc still a no-no? I've never mastered wtf to do with them.

NigellasGuest · 26/05/2017 07:30

IMO style death can be an outfit that's too matchy-matchy. You can kill a stylish outfit with overly matched bag and shoes. IMO again, before anyone gets put out!

educatingarti · 26/05/2017 07:43

www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beauty-hair/hair/news/a39899/hair-band-around-wrist-dangerous/

Warning for all you bobble on wrist wearers!

BitOutOfPractice · 26/05/2017 07:58

Educating that's because she had a cut on her wrist that got infected, not the bobble per se

And this thread has not been mean and Agoddessonamountaintop nobody has advocated sniggering or blanking FGS. In fact it has been largely self-deprecating.

Bon Marché is 'Style Mecca' now?

SunnySideForever · 26/05/2017 08:12

Surprised no-one has done this one - Bare feet in sandals/flip flops etc where the feet are not looked after -- Nasty!

expatinscotland · 26/05/2017 08:14

Somebody already has, Sunny.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2017 08:29

Sometimes it's interesting to see what the Sheeple are doing. Wink

This is a section on parenting forum that talks about clothes. Guess what - everyone wears clothes! I wear stuff because I like it not because someone tells me it's "stylish", that doesn't mean there aren't threads in this topic that interest me.

Athrawes · 26/05/2017 08:39

I wear crocs because I can garden in the mud and take them off at the door really easily.
And I keep the hanging loops on because they help the clothes hang better in the hanger!
I have an issue with toe walkers - people who always walk on their toes, but understand they may have other issues themselves.
Blue and green should never be seen without a colour in between.
But I draw the line at price stickers on the soles of shoes. M'colleague did this today, a very smart and shapely, well regarded young man. Reader, I judged him.

Athrawes · 26/05/2017 08:40

And never wear brown in town.
