It's people like this who put money into the pockets of the 'poor'- think of all the money this wedding generated for small businesses and the self employed. And then they will have tax deducted which pays benefits. It's called 'economics'.

You're kidding right? These people have a huge, expensive wedding and the rest of us should be grateful? They're employing small businesses? Tax generated? Ha. I think your understanding of 'economics' is a little simplistic. How about taxation reform so that others don't live in poverty, whilt these people spend a small fortune on one bloody day.

nina2b · 21/05/2017 18:24

The version of "economics" roughly outlined above, is simplistic - and laughable.

Do you spend money on things others would deem unnecessary?

We can all start somewhere...

fluentinsarcasm · 21/05/2017 18:31

I would be bursting with pride at both weddings if they were my daughters.

The likes of the Middletons are in the 50% tax bracket. They're paying for a lot of benefits.

Smudge100 · 21/05/2017 18:42

When you've got arms like Pippa, it would be a crime not to show them.

Lweji · 21/05/2017 18:44

WTF happened to this thread?
One turns one's back for five minutes and finds social inequality on the table.

CoraPirbright · 21/05/2017 18:48

And I am clearly the only one who loves the page boy outfits. I love the colours and the Victorian vibe.

Nope, Haffiana, I like them too! I have been to lots of weddings in my time (getting on a bit now!) and at virtually every one, the pageboys are dressed exactly like this, just with varying colours of the raw silk. Don't really understand why people are laughing or saying they are horrid. Totally bog standard ime.

I think Pippa looks absolutely beautiful! Love the dress, the hair...everything!!

Cora

I like them too :) ! It looks adorable and really goes with the "traditional/understated" theme.

They're still stinking rich. I'd like to see their wealth taxed at a higher rate so that children don't go hungry.

Yep and no apologies ;)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/05/2017 19:02

I don't care what they wear. People are living in abject poverty in this country

Oh dear, oh dear - what a dull, grey world it seems some would have us live in. Is it really so difficult to empathise with some of the poor while still enjoying a bit of fun along the way?

No dear, I don't find it hard to empathise with the poor. I just don't care about the priveleged and their dresses. Nice try at sarcasm though :D

dementedma · 21/05/2017 19:08

But if you dont care, why are you posting on a thread clearly about the dress of a privileged person?

Maybe don't click on threads like this then?

Wonder if any female in the Royal Family ever acted as the Maid of Honour at a family wedding. I wouldn't be surprised if they wore a similar dress to Kates. It is the type of thing she likes to do isn't it. That said I really liked the Mary Poppin's dress, though did think it looked too old a style for her. If she had worn it while wheeling Charlotte in the huge Silver Cross baby carriage, it would have looked like a vintage postcard. I liked that she played a part in the wedding and think Pippa looked absolutely beautiful.

Kate gets to play centre stage at every Royal event she attends. Yesterday was Pippa's turn and I really doubt she insisted on Kate wearing something for the sole purpose of making the bride look better.

To be fair, Kate's own wedding was the exception of showing the bridesmaid off to the extent she did. Most weddings I have attended, highlight the bride more than the bridesmaids.

I wonder if they will release photos of the reception.

eleven59 · 21/05/2017 19:13

But if you dont care, why are you posting on a thread clearly about the dress of a privileged person?

If you read what I originally posted, I said that I don't care about what she wears. So, I posted on this thread to say I don't care about her dress whilst others are living in poverty. Obvious I think.

ButterfliesandMoths · 21/05/2017 19:15

Dress is beautiful, and I thought she looked lovely.

Bejazzled · 21/05/2017 19:15

S&B Is hardly the place to have a serious discussion about the disparity between rich and poor. Other people's Mulberry handbags and creme de la mere is what I come here to read about and admire even though I could never afford them, I don't grudge anyone else having them.

Thanks but no help required. I will continue to click on threads like this because I find it fascinating.

NurseButtercup · 21/05/2017 19:29

She looked beautiful - I have wedding dress envy Blush LoL

Daydream007 · 21/05/2017 19:39

Beautiful! She has the perfect figure to carry a dress like that off. Simply stunning

DagenhamRoundhouse · 21/05/2017 19:45

Old lady's mumble mumble.......to change the name and not the letter is to change for the worse and not the better............mumble mumble.....

DagenhamRoundhouse · 21/05/2017 19:46

I feel rather sorry for the Middleton dad, think of what he's had to fork out for two high profile weddings!

ChocolateDigestiveAddict · 21/05/2017 19:51

I think Pippa and everyone else all looked lovely! They are clearly a close, happy family, which is really nice.
