I had a big event today where I was an 'important person' so it was TF black Orchid for me, which is my go to 'important persons scent. DH arrived back from time abroad without rive gauche (which I would've worn today as I think it is a teacher scent - someone else is a teacher too - I can't remember who, but remember thinking they must be a very cool and put together teacher) or bronze goddess which I would not have worn. We have very humid weather at the moment. Myself and humidity are not best bedfellows!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 28/05/2017 01:39

Arpège by Lanvin and 24 Faubourg by Hermès

Badders123 · 28/05/2017 08:20

Lipstick rose def not for me. Too rosey.
I am still awaiting my delivery of rive gauche...
It's cooler here today thank goodness!
Off to pils for lunch later...(perfumeless freaks) 😁
Sotd is still to be decided...

MrsCocoa · 28/05/2017 09:05

Wink OC.

Maxed Out smelt bloomin' fabulous 8 hours in and I can still smell it this morning.

4160s was clearly on my mind over night as I dreamt about visiting Acton and discussing notes. This is clearly a prompt to send a chasee-upee email to the wonderful Sarah about our perfume making day. Had had a few exchanges on our summer/autumn dates but it's all gone rather quiet....

If anyone else is interested on joining us, please pm me or Green for more details.

VintagePerfumista · 28/05/2017 10:20

I am going to study 4160 over the summer, when I will be near Canterbury for work so able to get goodies sent to me.

I am not yet scented but may bite the bullet and try an untried sample as I will have a shower after lunch so if it's a scrubber it won't matter.

There is a 10ml old Diorissimo + (iirc) Miss Dior going on ebay.it for a song if anyone is interested. I automatically decided I needed them Grin and messaged the guy to get him to remove the name or ebay blocks the sale, and he has, but now I think ffs, I have 50ml of Diorissimo, also vintage, and more Miss Dior than I can shake a stick at, but I feel guilty at not buying this guy's now!

VintagePerfumista · 28/05/2017 10:21

It's Diorella, not Miss Dior. I have 4 bottles already!

VintagePerfumista · 28/05/2017 11:21

So, am in Histoire des Parfums 1740.

Wowzers- on a blind sniff I would have immediately said Tauer. It's balsamy, spicy with a hint of chypre-skank. S'magnificent. I don't want a shower now. It's totally wrong for this time of year, but I don't care.

A quick google tells me it was inspired by the Marquis de Sade, which kind of figures, and it's a male perfume. Not that we let that bother us! Not surprisingly, Fragrantica gives LADDM as one we would like if we like this.

Discovered yet another fab blog while researching this one.

For Badders! Grin

I hope DH had a good excuse for forgetting the promised Rive Gauche/Bronze Goddess Dlpdep. I think he is duty bound to get both of them next time.

If you are working in Canterbury this summer Vintage you might be able to study 4160 Tuesdays in person so long as your dates fitted in with our proposed Vipers' Outing/4160s workshop. Just think, around 50 niche perfumes you haven't encountered..Oh, and Sarah Mc keeps a vintage cupboard too...Not that I'm tempting you or anything.Grin

I really shouldn't but if you could kindly PM me the listing for the Italian Diorissimo/Diorella I might succumb to temptation...

Stll hot and sticky here. I have been spritzing Le Couvent des Minimes Eau des Minimes (grapefruit, lemon, orange and rosemary) and Eau Aimable (orange blossom, bergamot, mandarin orange, nasturtium) very generously in turn.

They are both beautifully refreshing and citrus-smelling without straying into cleaning product territory, last well for colognes and, as they can be picked up very cheaply, you can spray them with giddy abandon. I wish the others in the range were easy to come across here too. I've also got Eau des Missions and that is magnificent, but there are several others proving harder to track down.

Oh! My late dad loved the moody blues! I grew up listening to them 😀
I'm very excited about trying it again. Even my very glamourius aunt liked it. I hope I win the lace too....I shall be reliving the 80s through scent!
😂
I felt in need of comfort today so it was nightmusk for me. My Ds2 asked what I was wearing as I passed him on the stairs and loves it 👍🏻
Today I have realised that on a weekend in July I have 2 occasions to attend (and one to help out at) and then the next day go on holiday for 5 days.
This has necessitated a desperate Boden order for a frock to wear to both (and shoes obv) and now I'm deciding what scent to wear!
For Dhs works do it might have to be full on POAL stinky but I think for the next day it might be rive gauche....
(Of course I shall change my mind many times by then 😀)

MrsCocoa · 28/05/2017 18:09

SotD: Be Careful What You WIsh For. Creamy peach fuzz oud. Not necessarily one I would've picked out on paper - but it is a gorgeously warm and enveloping cloud of fruit and woods, that's easy to wear and to love.

MrsCocoa · 28/05/2017 21:57

Just got a little bottle of Lancome Magie - anyone tried?

Badders123 · 29/05/2017 08:48

It's a bank holiday so it's raining
Hmmm
Might be nightmusk again today....ds2 and i are on.out own til weds and he likes it...

VintagePerfumista · 29/05/2017 09:08

Ha ha, Green- I knew about the vintage cupboard before I knew about the other scents- I first came across mention of 4160 when they were advertising that they had an unopened bottle of old Miss Dior that was going to be uncorked and decanted.

I would definitely be interested if dates permit- I am in summer boarding school though, which tends to be 24/7 but don't rule me out!

Unfortunately the ebay chappie seems to have either sold the Diors or withdrawn them as they are no longer listed. :-( He does have some other stuff listed which might interest people- there's a Miss Balmain miniature and some Hermes. www.ebay.it/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ssn=babatimka&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc

I am in Jade because it's hot, I'm tired and it's not a bank holiday here!

MrsCocoa · 29/05/2017 09:18

Missed out on Miss Balmain last night - hoping one of you snagged it!

Am on a roll this week with the fruity/sweet 4160 aesthetic - so Dirty Honey is SotD. Good for a wet spring day...

FloofyCat · 29/05/2017 12:25

Hello fragrant friends! Am keeping up with the thread but RL is going a bit tits up unexpectedly busy so just squitzing Allure ATM as my "go to and goes with anything" perfume at the moment.

Look forward to hearing all about the perfume workshop from those who can make it :)

Hope you are all not too muggy! Too early for "hot" perfumes? Wasn't there a well thought of Avon perfume along the lines of Bronze Goddess? Or do the perfume Parlour do a dupe? My last PP order didn't arrive btw, this reminds me I must chase them...hope no one else has had issues?

Badders123 · 29/05/2017 13:05

MUST . STAY. OFF. EBAY.....

ThreeForAPound · 29/05/2017 14:55

Afternoon sniffers!

I'm on day two of a hangover, so shower-fresh is about the only smell I can stomach.

The party that induced the hangover was so much fun, but I honestly think about half the women there were wearing Flowerbomb. The whole place stunk of it.

I get paid on Wednesday and am going to buy a few samples from Notino of things I've wanted to try for ages. £20 is my maximum spend, though. Hold me to that, please!

I'd be well up for a 4160 workshop. The vintage cupboard sounds enticing...

ThreeForAPound · 29/05/2017 14:56

Floofy, I'm pretty sure one of the Next perfumes is a Bronze Goddess dupe...

Badders123 · 29/05/2017 14:58

Fragrance workshop!!?
Get thee behind me Satan!!

Maudlinmaud · 29/05/2017 15:04

Hello perfume lovers. I swing by this thread every so often. I bought another blind scent again it's a cavalli.I can't seem to get enough of these fragrances. A couple of months ago I mentioned I bought Serpentine 100ml bottle which I've almost drained. I'm too hard on perfume. This time I went with just gold for her. It smells so good. I haven't had to talk myself into liking it I just really do. It settles completely differently on my skin than on my friends.

GreenPolishToGo · 29/05/2017 16:44

For anyone who's missed the previous posts on the plans for a Vipers' Outing, thanks to 4160 Tuesdays expert and fellow fan Mrs Cocoa, we have a potential date of August 12 for a special MNers 4160 Tuesdays Make A Perfume Day Workshop. Details of what the workshops entail can be found here.

Anyone interested in coming along is more than welcome and no prior knowledge is needed - Sarah Mc can supply that in spades, along with buckets full of enthusiasm. The cost would be £125 and includes a 30ml bottle of your creation.

If you are tempted, do join us. We are not a bit scary. Some of us are very knowledgeable and some (ahem) not at all, but we are lovely and friendly, just like this thread. PM MrsCocoa or me if you would like to come. And if August is a non-starter for you there's a possibility of an Autumn date so do let us know anyway.

You're very kind ^Green* but think fellow fan is much more accurate than expert....

GreenPolishToGo · 29/05/2017 20:47

Well, a great deal more expert than me MrsC! Congratulations on the Magie and do please post what you think of it. I had one in my Ebay watch list once and was quite hopeful because it started at next to nothing. Only to watch open-mouthed as it soared into the stratosphere in the last few seconds. I didn't even get to bid!

The Miss Balmain was not me, but the vintage Jolie Madame was so it's probably as well the Italian Diors went elsewhere. Especially as the heavenly Orianne has now appeared on 4160 Tuesdays' website and the latest newsletter has a hefty discount code for it. Ahem...Wink

Wow Green - that's fantastic news on the Jolie Madame! Envy.

Have restricted my searches to classics under a tenner for the time being (having failed to rein myself in altogether....). But it is interesting how prices vary...think there is a very long game to be played here!
