Floofy My hair is down to the back band of my bra but bounces up to my shoulders when curly, it doesn't tend to stay in plaits as it's layered. It's up in a ponytail today.

Sotd is Pamplelune as i lack imagination and it was closest to hand when i was getting dressed.

VintagePerfumista · 20/06/2017 16:16

Beginning to think my Eau du Sud is definitely a fake- longevity is next to nothing. Humph.

So, Sotafternoon- grabbed a sample- Hermes Le jardin apres le mousson. Don't like it. It's got that rotting vegetation/slightly nappy accord that I can always smell in MMM Untitled. Something off kilter for my nose. Like when you've got a melon that needs eating!

Going for a hefty spray of (possibly fake) EdS on top to get rid of it.

MrsCocoa · 20/06/2017 18:55

That would be a bit of a weird thing to fake though VP - quite a lot of trouble to go to for something niche? Was it sealed? (Having encountered 'topping up' in recent months I'd be wondering about that unless that looks unlikely given the state of the packaging....).

Mrsmartell08 · 20/06/2017 19:15

My avon parcels were posted today!
[Happy dance]

VintagePerfumista · 20/06/2017 20:03

I know MrsC- and a bit of research even said that there had been NO proven cases of AG being counterfeited!

It's just the longevity....dunno. It's odd, the box was sealed with a sticker, and had a 72 euro price sticker on it. (I got it for 24 on a BIN) It doesn't look completely full- maybe 1/10th out of it. I wondered if it had been a tester....the seller (German) seems to be selling loads and loads of AG all at knock down prices.

I won't bother querying it- I'm quite happy to spray with wild abandon for 24 euro. Grin and it was strong enough to cover up the "ooh what's gone off in the fridge" stink coming from the Hermes Grin

Tell us about the Avons! All of them MrsM!

Mrsmartell08 · 20/06/2017 20:32

I Will!! :) it may take a while...i have 15 bottles on the way [excited]
I've found one or two scents don't last on me the vintage...
Valentino poudre being one sadly

MrsCocoa · 20/06/2017 20:40

MrsM - it's gone darker and cooler here tonight, so have reached into the Avon bargain box and pulled out Occur! The old half empty bottle seems to be in good condition - even caught a niff of gardenia in the first couple of minutes, then sweet, mossy, (very dirty) musk. Think you mentioned you have some of this in the bundle that's on it's way to you?

Mrsmartell08 · 20/06/2017 20:44

Yes I have!
I'm pretty sure occur! Is not disimilar to knowing (also mossy skanky 😁) I'm excited to see if im right..hang on and I will list what's coming...

Mrsmartell08 · 20/06/2017 20:54

Ok. So...this is whats on its way...
(No occur! 😔😔😔 my mistake)

Moonwind
Perceive
Soie rouge
Rare gold
Pearls and lace
Cool (?) Never heard of this one
Oriental blossom (ditto)
Timeless x 2
Soft musk
Lahana (a pink minger I fear)
Elusive
Casbah
Millennia (no idea on this one either)

Some I love, some I've never tried and one or two I think I will hate 😁
Have bid on some occur! I think I must have thought one of the timeless was occur by mistake 😔
Should keep me busy....

MrsCocoa · 20/06/2017 21:09

That is a mystery VP - I think it's got real staying power compared to other citrus/aromatics.

GreenPolishToGo · 20/06/2017 21:12

I think Calm's phrase "perfume, cats and pink Mohicans" is the perfect candidate for our next thread title. Smile

It is horribly hot and sticky here and all the poor cats are stretched out like limp draught excluders. I have been ringing the changes on Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil, Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale and Aqua Allegorias Pampelune, Herba Fresca, and Teazzurra - all beautiful and as refreshing as anything can be in this weather.

MrsC thank you for the reminder about 4160's SOTW offer. I couldn't possibly resist a half-price Doe In The Snow. Blush

OneNight I like the Perfume Society Discovery Boxes and the Fragrance Shop Discovery Club for assorted samples.

Auld, Happy Belated Birthday!Cake

MrsM - of your list I've tried Elusive, Timeless and Moonwind. All highly recommended Smile.

I think Occur! is great too. It is quite seriously animalic, but in that back-lit and glowy vintage way; much softer than modern skank. I'm smiling...but the cat is looking worried.

Mrsmartell08 · 20/06/2017 21:25

I had moonwind and timeless as a kid and I seem to remember I liked both
Soft musk is lovely too
I'm excited to try elusive and casbah

MrsCocoa · 20/06/2017 21:27

That was spooky Green - I posted that before reading your Perfume, Cats and Pink Mohicans post. I liked your draught excluder description.

Have just started reading 'Coming to my Senses'. Eerily familiar so far...anyone else read this?

Auldspinster · 20/06/2017 21:35

I used to have soft musk body cream when I was a teenager, gorgeous smell.

Second sotd was Fleur de Figeur by Roger & Gallet as I was heading to my mum's to hang out with my toddler nephew who was being babysat by grandma. We had great fun dancing and colouring in.

Pestilentialone · 20/06/2017 21:37

4160 also have a naughty cupboard which id bound to tempt you Green Buddhawood Box mixed with Sexiest Scent on the Planet, 100ml for £10, Killer Rose also.

Have dabbed some old No.19 on one wrist and sprayed some newer stuff on the other, they are definitely different.

ThreeForAPound · 20/06/2017 22:56

I just spritzed 4160 Doe in the Snow on after my shower on a whim. It was my favourite Christmas and New Year perfume, so was just curious really. Oh my! It works so well in this humidity. A revelation.

VintagePerfumista · 21/06/2017 08:59

Pest- what do you notice as different between the two 19s?

My old one is somehow sharper- right at the very beginning- almost a sour citrus green whoosh.

I am in Jade, took dd to her final exam - the oral exam in front of every teacher where they have to choose a central argument and connect every single subject to it and talk for half an hour. I am going to do a scientific (not) study of Jade/Eau du Sud/Liz Earle 1 as they are all so very similar (in a lovely crisp fresh way) to my nose.

VintagePerfumista · 21/06/2017 09:01

Love Moonwind and Timeless. See if you also think Moonwind has a hint of the Miss Dior orginale about it.

I've not heard of many of the others on your list, except Cool possibly. Off to google.

Calminaqualm · 21/06/2017 09:13

"Perfume, Cats and Pink Mohicans" - I would be honoured if this was the name of the next thread 🙂 but credit should go to Floofy for her pink Mohican!

I wore Shay & Blue's Blood Oranges yesterday. It is a strong orange and leather but the orange is quite sharp so it seemed to cut through the heat. Today, on your recommendation Three, I'm wearing Doe in the Snow from a sample. I'm enjoying it, but it's not a love for me.

Pestilentialone · 21/06/2017 09:49

Vintage New 19 has a sort of lily of the valley opening seeps through to mossy stuff and lasts a long time. Had the scent of green flowers left when I woke. The perfume is wearing me.
The old one opens with a sharp wallop and then has a bitter, musky undertone. The flowers are in there but wrapped up in an array of subtle undertones. I smelt good when I woke. I am wearing the perfume.
It's the difference between someone saying "That is a nice perfume" and "you smell nice"

Overall they are quite similar. However, I have been sniffing them obsessively for hours, they are very different. My vote goes to the old one. I assume the old one has something hard to get hold of or banned in it (maybe several somethings).

So much for not spending money, Killer Rose, Dirty Honey and Doe in the Snow are all winging their way towards me.

Iwanttobakethree · 21/06/2017 10:14

SOTD is Davidoff Cool Water Wave which is just OK but is fine for a warm day in an air conditioned office. Usually its worn off by lunchtime.

This evening its date night so its either going to be Knowing or Inevitable Crimes of Passion by 4160 Tuesdays

VintagePerfumista · 21/06/2017 10:14

I get that Pest- thank you for expressing it so beautifully. I love the new one, and it is the one scent I always always have a bottle of...but there is something that isn't there from the 19 I remember from 86 which was when my flatmate wore it.

I have a tiny bottle of the old stuff- about 4ml, I think I am going to treat myself come payday to a couple of ml of the old stuff that I know will be genuine- maybe from Perfumed Court, I know they have some on sale.

Pestilentialone · 21/06/2017 10:40

My money goes on the old No 19 not being suitable for vegetarians. Hmm There is an unmistakable animal undertone that is so gentle but addictive. Certainly the first four of these

Auldspinster · 21/06/2017 11:55

Sotd is Angelique Lilas, an old Aqua Allegoria, a kind of meh scent.
