I can't find one on my pesky phone!

I'm happy to start one here if there isn't one running.

Stepped on the scales this morning- I'd previously lost 11lb doing the blood sugar diet, then Easter happened, so regained a few seven pounds, but today was almost down to my pre-Easter weight. So I'm pretty pleased with that. Still haven't coloured my hair but hopefully dh will be home to do dc bedtimes and I can do it tonight.
I'm enjoying my morning walks again now the kids are back in school, gives me such a boost for the day.

Teatowelfairy · 25/04/2017 12:47

I'm in need of major princessing and am hoping this thread will get me motivated!

I can't actually remember the last time I picked up my razor Blush so defuzzing is first thing I'm going to do.
Now that I think about it I haven't been to the hairdressers in over a year either so I'm going to book an appointment.
My nails are atrocious and I have really dry skin so I'm going to start a new daily skin care routine and aim to give myself a mani\pedi at least once a month.
I never eat properly and find I constantly grab a snack usually something sugary and calorific. I do cook a nice homemade meal every evening for DH and the DC but wait to eat mine while I feed the baby then i can reheat it, except it usually ends up v. late at night by the time I stop and realise I've not eaten and I don't want to stuff myself before bed so I'll just reach for the snacks again. Shock
Somehow I've managed to loose 2 stone since having the youngest DC (11months) but could benefit from losing another stone and half. So I'm going to ditch the snacks, make sure I eat with the rest of the family and get my arse down to the gym.

Girlywurly · 26/04/2017 13:19

Hello, can I join in please?

I'm going to keep things simple to begin with and just list a few things to do before the end of the week:

  • shave legs, pits and bits. I have a fair bit of winter fuzz to remove!
  • do an at home manicure and a foot scrub.
  • return to Slimming World way of eating.

Umm... that's it for now, I think... Might do a bit of sorting/tidying of clothes and beauty supplies if I get a chance...

Rockaby · 26/04/2017 13:37

Yes, welcome both!

Well done on weight loss new average!

I weighed myself today and I a mess exactly the same as I was a month ago, or perhaps a lb lighter... I'm going to continue with healthy eating and maybe start logging food on mfp next week. We were up a few times in the night with poorly DD. We are stuck in the house watching Disney dvds today as well and my diet hasn't been brilliant today - I'm using tiredness as an excuse which is silly as I'm sure I'd feel a lot better if I ate some fruit and veg instead of veggie burgers and flapjacks! I have been rubbish about yoga recently as well. I will definitely do something exercise-wise this evening when DD goes to bed. It might just be a 15 min hiit session at home - better than nothing!

On the plus side, my hair seems fine with just washing with conditioner every other wash. I also filed my feet at last this morning. Going to do defuzzing again tonight. I feel a lot better for it.

I'm on way back from trip where I've ate lots of carbs and crap so on top of my weight gain over Easter I'm expecting another 4 on st least.
Cutting out bread from today and upping my water- I'm ready for this feel like crap today so need a change :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2017 14:34

I've been trapped in the house today too OP- ds age 4 was sick at school yesterday, so he's banned for 48 hours! I wouldn't mind, except he's flipping right as rain today!

I know this sounds silly but I've brought downstairs a little box with hand cream, face wipes, face cream, tweezers etc and put them in our downstairs loo. I never quite manage to get upstairs to do these things so hopefully I'll be more able to if everything's downstairs. I don't know why I didn't think of that before!

Destinysdaughter · 26/04/2017 19:51

I spent ages reading about Korean skin care and have now got a ( sort of ) routine going, am bit impatient to see results, but guess it will take time. Also really need to up water and lower alcohol as starting menopause and hot flushes make my face go bright red, and my skin is already prone to redness...Blush

HolditFinger · 26/04/2017 22:20

I love this thread!
Pre-DC I always made the most of my appearance but I've got really complacent since. I've lost 3 stone over the last year, but found myself slipping back into bad habits lately. So no more junk!

These are the changes I've made since committing to this thread:
To take 5 mins extra every day to do something that I'd usually think I don't have time for. Like:
Attack yeti eyebrows
Actually use those acid peel masks I bought
Take make-up off at night
I'VE DONE MY SCARY GREY ROOTS!
Sort my nails out
Booked in for a haircut and Olaplex treatment next week
Make an effort to dress so I feel great rather than bung on jeans and whatever is handy.

Dottydoodoo · 27/04/2017 10:25

Hello! Please can I join in?

I had DS last year, and over the last year I have really neglected myself! Since going back to work I have realised that I feel really yuck about myself and something needs to be done.

So..........

  • log everything I eat on my fitness pal
  • try and walk 10,000 steps a day
  • moisturise every morning and before bed, and put a little bit of make up on
  • have a hair cut every 6-8 weeks
  • de fuzz once a week
  • pluck eyebrows regularly (I can't remember when I last did them Blush)!

Think that's it to start with. I am going to be 30 in a few weeks and would love to feel a bit better about myself!

Girlywurly · 27/04/2017 10:33

Thanks for the welcome, OP. Smile

Have been doing ok with the eating... Went out last night and stuck to mineral water. Found that I didn't miss the booze and it's been great waking up this morning and not feeling dehydrated/grey/puffy!

Rockaby · 27/04/2017 10:46

Hello all and welcome new people Smile.

newaveragebear I feel your pain! I hate being stuck in the house.

We are staying in again this morning, packing for a weekend away.

I think I'm getting DD's cold, so am trying not to eat crap for comfort and will try and beat it with healthy food instead; I'm eating 'raw before 4' today, (except for cups of tea, which I think are called for! I'm trying to stick with green or herbal though).

I will file my feet again today and defuzz this evening, (as I didn't have time in the end last night).

I am also going to make a hair appointment for the weekend I think. I am visiting family and it's a lot cheaper to have a haircut where they live, so I will take advantage if I can.

WHat is the best way to get rid of chin hairs, pls?
I am not just talking about a stray 'witch hair' but a light beard?
(mousy/reddish?)

I cant seem to feel it is WORTH doing any of the other suggestions with this stupid chin prob? I currently shave it but find it very depressing :(

Rockaby · 27/04/2017 10:53

If it's just your chin worship, I'd probably get it waxed at a salon.

I have loads of blonde fuzz on my face too. So annoying!

Just remembered another princessing related thing I've started and it's taking a good multivitamin and probiotics every day. Can't say it's made a big difference yet but maybe a little.

Henrysmycat · 27/04/2017 11:08

Wow! I remember one old thread and I picked some good points.
I'm 43 this year and my weight unfortunately went sky-high because I love my food and have no stop button. I am a bridesmaid at a Mexico bikini wedding to a gymbunny bride. NO pressure!

  • After Easter, I got a PT 2 times a week and do another 2 times a week yoga. So need to continue with this. It's very hard.
*Maybe add a bit of cardio but I hate cardio with a passion.
  • I overhaul our cooking so now do some healthy batch cooking/chopping salads on Sunday. Need to do more chopped veg because we run out by this morning.
  • my skin is a bit dry so drink more water and hydrate more.

BTW, I went on a trip to Greece and booked a dermatologist and had laser Alexadrite treatment on my hair follicles. Very few now left and it was less that 160euros. My weekend and the treatment was half the price of doing it here. I'm in London and they were quoting me upwards of £1000K. Bet decision ever.

Girlywurly · 27/04/2017 14:11

Threading works well for chin hairs, Gourd. I don't recommend hair removal cream as I had a horrible (and embarrassing Blush) reaction to it once. I usually buzz over mine with a nasal hair trimmer I bought specifically for my chin, but I've recently been getting a lot more (low estrogen I think) so may need to do something more drastic.

Dottydoodoo · 27/04/2017 21:30

Well, I think I've had a good first day!

I've just had a shower and shaved my legs and underarms, put some moisturiser on, bio oiled my c section scar, and put some night cream on my face. I feel all smooth now!

I have just realised why I hate shaving legs etc so much, and that is because it is such a fiddle! I couldn't get the shaving foam to squirt out, then the razor is blunt and you keep going over and over the same bit until eventually you cut yourself and it takes 900 hours to stop bleeding! I need to get myself an electric shaver, if anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful.

I walked 11,902 steps today which tbh has shocked me! I don't feel as if I did that much walking and didn't do anything different in order to achieve that. I failed at logging on my fitness pal, I couldn't find something on it so I had a bit of a paddy, but tomorrow is a new day! Grin

JemimaMuddledUp · 29/04/2017 14:26

Hmm, princessing has gone downhill fast this week. Busy in work, including travelling for meetings. Also am suffering really badly with hayfever so have permanently watery eyes and red, sore nose.

I have just had my hair cut and coloured, which has made me feel better. I have also just opened a Boden parcel (only a Breton top and a navy jersey dress, which is practically my uniform, but I had vouchers to use) and I bought a pair of red ballet pumps in M&S on the way to the hairdressers. So I have new shiny stuff Grin

Going to do my nails tonight. The strengthener does seem to have helped as they haven't split as much as usual this week.

Girlywurly · 29/04/2017 14:50

Glad you're pleased with your new hair, Jemina.

I've been scrubbing away at my feet - it's a big job, I've let them get really bad Blush so I've ordered some footners, which I'll do next week.

Nails are tidy now and ready for polish, which I'll do later this afternoon. Have had a clear out and discarded a load of crappy old polishes I don't like.

I've also Olaplexed my hair. Just need to do some deep moisturising treatments now, trim up a few of the split ends, and it should be looking reasonably OK. I'm going to check out YouTube for some pretty updos. I tend to just do a bun, which looks OK but gets a bit boring. I've bought some flower clips which I'm far too old for (got them in the kids section at H&M Blush), but I like them, so fuck it...! Grin

Finally, I have bought some new makeup: a Rimmel eye shadow palette and a Burt's Bees lip shimmer. I've self-analysed my colouring as soft summer, and these products were recommended online. I wore the eyeshadows out midweek, and they did look really nice, and subtle which was surprising as in the palette they're garishly purple!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2017 18:37

I decided to treat myself and went to Debenhams for some foundation, ended up getting Estée Lauder. It covers well and isn't too heavy so I'm pleased. Was expensive though! I finally dyed my hair and its come out really really dark- almost black. I like the colour, but don't know if it suits me, it looks very dark. Not anything like the box picture either.

I'm going to order a few summer bits tonight ready for my holidays so I have time to try on and get the right size if they're too small.

Rockaby · 30/04/2017 08:16

Oh good princessing everyone Star!

I've been crap Blush! I've been away this weekend and went off the rails and had some cocktails last night. I blame holiday spirit for all! It was a fun evening though.

On the plus side I had my hair cut yesterday. I'm not 100% sure I love it, as it's a lot shorter at the back than the front. The hairdresser said that was deliberate as she knows I a mother trying to grow it and my hair grows a lot faster at the back (natural mullet Grin). I think I can go another few months or more till I need another cut.

I am going to invest in a tubing mascara today. I've heard good things about them and my eye make up could use a bit of help. It always ends up smudgy by the end of the day when I do it.

I'm also going to make a bigger effort with diet and exercise this week. I have been really slack.

Dottydoodoo · 30/04/2017 21:03

Is it just me, or does moisturising always seem like such an effort?! I am so useless!! Got into bed last night and realised I hadn't put my night cream on, couldn't be bothered to get up and do it. Then today left the house and then realised again that I had completely forgotten to do my face. Gahh! Honestly, I need an alarm or electric shock or something!! Blush

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/04/2017 21:46

Dotty I tend to moisturise at odd times, because I don't like the feel of it on me when I get into bed. Today I did my feet and hands with body shop body butter while ds was in the bath.
I don't like applying it onto wet skin after a shower as I find it makes me feel all dirty again. I suppose it's something I might get used to if I did it regularly?
