Oh CV, how terrible. Poor boy and his family.

GGG - ds - just uni decisions, summer plans, adminy stuff, we just don't seem to have sorted anything over the hol.

Revision - I just find the snack provision/being around dull but am very lucky as they both have always got on with it pretty OK. So thank we have been lucky.

Dinners - yours all sound lovely. I took dd and bf out for dinner and am now longing for my usual late night herbal cuppa.

Herbs, sounds great, go you!

Auriga, I really hope the referral is useful.

Lalsy · 19/04/2017 23:34

Sorry Fir poorly typed and brusque post - iPad!

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2017 00:09

Yes, that's the one, Magi. Just awful, life-changing. He has a great family, and there has been a massive fundraising effort for him, but that's his dreams ended. Sad

IDismyname · 20/04/2017 06:48

CV having a DS who is passionate about a dangerous sport, makes me all too sensitive to stories about young boys who damage or loose parts of their bodies in the pursuit of their dreams. (We come very close to it sometimes).
They'll be in my thoughts and prayers a lot. Awful, awful for everyone.

NUFC69 · 20/04/2017 07:04

CV, I had read about the 17 yo on the BBC website: how unspeakably awful for him and his family.

Auriga, the photo was lovely. I am sorry that it is taking so long to find out the problem. Doing little at home definitely sounds the way to go.

My evening meal was an egg sandwich and a couple (or more) Lindt chocolates as we ate out at lunchtime with the grandchildren. We had an enjoyable time with the two cousins aged 6 and almost 5, which mostly consisted of them haring around either on scooters or on foot whilst we watched from a bench.

DH and I have to go shopping for stuff for his cycling holiday to Majorca, now only just over a week away. (And I probably need to stock up with ready meals as I can never be bothered to cook for myself).

Reading about revising students has just reminded me that we put up the son of my boss when they had to move away. It was his A levels and all I recall is him eating me out of house and home! I would buy various sandwich fillings so he could make himself snacks, only to find that he had put everything into the one sandwich and there was nothing left for the next day.

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2017 07:06

Oh no CV - that sounds really awful. So youngSad

Re prom frocks, we got DD's from Debenhams, but she tried some from the usual Missguided, Asos, etc. My top tip is start looking now as they will be disappearing off the shelves as we speak, but we managed to get DD's about half-price in the saleWink

Montypulciano · 20/04/2017 07:12

Gosh,CV, that is terrible.

Glad you have a referral, Auriga. Hope they sort you out and you will start to feel better.

Stropps, how are you? BD, you must be back from your trip. Hope you enjoy the last few days back to work.

We are MC devotees ok our house too, Crem - thought the young blogger was amazing, as was Fumbi last night. Puts my sausage and leek supper to shame. I like the professional version the best as it's got Monica in it, though I preferred michel to Marcus Wink

So much to do today and can't leave til I've done it. Best shake a leg.

Hope new job continues to go well, Herbs 🌿

I am feeling like I'm in a strange sort of time warp - this week is simultaneously stretching on forever and flashing by - it's most off putting. I think the problem is the number of things I have to do - with not enough time - and slightly feeling out of control about most of them. Worryingly, I think this includes the dds exams (dd3 starts today) which means I could be in for weeks of this. I need to stop being so self indulgent about this as I have no real cause for worry. But insomnia seems to multiply and magnify minor concerns out of all sensible proportion.

Wishing peace and serenity to all.

Blackduck · 20/04/2017 07:33

Just catching up! Arrived back yesterday - slightly nerve wracking as we came into land and the pilot aborted the landing and we took off again a and circled round no explanation, but some very relived faces when we touched down (actually thumped down) at second attempt.

Herbs - so glad it is all going well!
Auriga - I really hope you get some answers soon.
CV - how dreadful.

Strength to all those in revision hell.

I have a couple of days to catch up, laundry etc. And then back to the grind Monday - I did gain some perspective being away and am hoping I can hang on to it.

Oh interesting Rudy didn't know that, but his aborted landing Muscat have wasted loads .......

Lalsy · 20/04/2017 08:04

Prom dresses - dds came from charity shop first time and was rather nice. She hated the whole business and it was a nightmare getting her sorted. Miss selfridge for the second one (yr13).

MrsWobble3 · 20/04/2017 08:09

Best value prom dress was from TK Max in Lewisham. Some years ago but they had a reasonable selection on the left at the back of the shop.

motherinferior · 20/04/2017 08:32

I am hoping for a charity shop deal - otherwise we too will hit Lewisham TK Maxx!

motherinferior · 20/04/2017 08:36

In other S&B news, do I still not want this now it's on sale? Bear in mind I picked up a merino tunic in VG nick and the same colour (fatface) for £7 in a charity shop last week...

wordassociationfootball · 20/04/2017 09:24

Its called a 'go around', BD. I read about it in the BA flying with confidence book I got for Dd. It's not unususl appaz, which is why they dont explain. Happens when there's not enough room and ting.

CV That really is horrendous and agree with GGG that it .might low level freak ds out for a while.

Rose, I am fine with spices for some reason.

I feel shattered and have a deadline at 12...might be a couple of hours late.

GGG, your bat wielding eejits must. Have been terrifying.

wordassociationfootball · 20/04/2017 09:26

Or -go around - when they've messed up the angle of the descent.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 20/04/2017 09:33

Step away MI. 《《It's in the sale for a REASON》》. Being cheaper will make it no more flattering than when it was full price. #harsh.

Oh good, I've just saved £29.50Smile

To be fair the sweaters are vv nice.

Cremolafoam · 20/04/2017 10:08

It is Spring MI-save $ for something more seasonal.

BD welcome home. i was once in a triple attempt 'go around' in Madeira where the runway is very short and is like a pier built out over the sea. The wind was high too so we were being tossed about the cabin like paper dolls. I stupidly looked out the window and could actually see birds nests with eggs in , we were that close to the cliff face. A few seats away was a couple I knew, one of whom was terrified of flying and had just done the FoF course, poor thing. I was( as were several others) sick on the tarmac when we eventually touched down. Great start to a week's holiday. (Not)

Rudy, i have a useful bench ( Ikea) which sits in the hall with basket storage underneath, and can be mustered for various jobs. I recommend.

Today I am back with the gp to see how thyroid fares. Might get an haircut at some point. Would like something http://pin.it/cCIjlkP radical but am too afreared.Hmm

That's very distressing CV what a terrible accident.

DD also got her prom dress at TK Max MrsW .....designer dress for a snip of the original price. But you have to be opportunistic and browse regularly.

BD after two aborted final approaches on arrival at Nice a couple of years ago and a diversion to another airport...I was quite calm ..until afterwards. Shock

Strange unstructured day ahead. Quasi parents evening at the theatre for DD later. Feels weird...

Reasons to be cheerful...
I have acquired a new private client

Can't think of any more...Hmm
