(the bit about the tools and fixing stuff, obvs :) )

MollyMugwump · 04/05/2017 11:04

Another one here in a complete funk about lard. I am completely buttered.

herbaceous · 04/05/2017 11:16

Moi aussi re gras. I'm wearing the Sainsburys pinny that 'would look great once I've lost a few pounds'. This is still true. Not helped by bloated belly as digestion seems to have slowed to a crawl.

You crepeys have been making me laff with your talk of partially inflated fleas, tool boxes and vodka, drizzle and regret. Cheered me up after the trauma of Faye the Yurt-building Crepey being ejected from Masterchef in favour of Brodie the Vague. I shall console myself by studying Lorna's ever-changing lipstick.

Job continues to be 80% great, 20% terrifying. I have to take five or so of them on my own for TWO PERIODS next Monday. I am already scared, and planning a new rod-of-iron approach. Must Not Show Fear.

hattymattie · 04/05/2017 11:26

Herbs - you have to practise "the look" - this is what BTM advised me, and I've been practising ever since.

Ahh so the Geordie lady was expelled last night. I too am fascinated by the lipstick girl. DS is a little in love with her.

IDismyname · 04/05/2017 11:32

CV - well, at least they were a set of useful stuff! When you think what Amazon sell, you didn't do too badly...

My Amazon conundrum has been resolved as of an email from DBro this morning. 'Twas a thank you for having had DNephew to stay. He's normally rather tight fisted, so never thought it would be him.

MI - I can rethread blinds (in a fashion) - can I help at all?

Does anyone have any idea on how to hold onto your phone charger? I am close to super-gluing several to various points in the house, but meanwhile got busy with the marker pen (which was in the kitchen, where I left it...) and wrote MUM on every bit of it. I may cover it in pink glitter, too Grin

I am SO OVER dresses. I have ordered the Monsoon stuff, more stuff from elsewhere, and bunged it all on credit card, in the hope I can try it on and get it back without having to actually pay for it. I have scoured John Lewis, Debenhams, Next, HoF, my local posh frock shop, Mint Velvet, Karen Millen, Hobbs, Jigsaw, Laura Ashley, Oasis, Whistles, Cost and Boden. Even Ebay...

I'm cross eyed from peering at a screen, and generally cross (and fat). I rue the moment I sent back a dress last year because I had to choose between 2. Grrrr. Why didn't I keep it??

IDismyname · 04/05/2017 11:38

Oh yes - I was shouting at Faye last night. 'Come on girl!'

She looked absolutely shattered on her final cook off. Poor love.

Lord knows why Brodie is still in the competition. Lorna and her lips are following in the footsteps of whats her name who won BBOff.

Ahh... here she is - Candice

Lalsy · 04/05/2017 13:05

I thought Faye looked exhausted - think the tent/duck combo was a bit gruelling but her last dish looked really odd. I quite like Brodie the Vague.

Dress Endurance Star for Cloud. Magi, hope you had some luck. I usually give up before I go but in work search-avoidance mode today tried on some Seasalt dresses at local stockist. Not bad but none right.

MI, I would be Angry. Mistakes happen. You shouldn't be scared.

Cremolafoam · 04/05/2017 13:19

I too was sad for Faye the Lilac ( who is only 44) , but she looked done in after duck-apocalypse. But hey, the standard of that food for Holby looked amazing, even if it was only the sprinkling of micro herbs.
I am slightly in love with Lorna who is Amazonian in stature and carries off the lippy with aplomb.Giovanna to win, but Alison will probably take her at the last hurdle. Would happily have Brodie, as my own vague and meandering child.Blush

Windows steam cleaned & washed. All dress catalogues recycled. Might take a swerve into HOF tomorrow, just to see....Hmm

herbaceous · 04/05/2017 13:21

Brodie the Vague always resorts to a curry, which he feel is a sign of weakness in MC. Can't stand that bloody Shalia woman and her simpering. And how she was rude to Bald Dark Horse.

motherinferior · 04/05/2017 13:32

I've tried and tried not to pull that cord out. Like I say, all the other blinds in our house are fine. But he just doesn't believe me and seems to think it's part of how I never accept blame for anything.

Looks bonkers written down, doesn't it.

Auriga · 04/05/2017 13:56

Scared of telling him that the blind cord has come off in your hand?
And he feels entitled to shout at you about it?
Wtf?

hattymattie · 04/05/2017 14:01

Cloud - have looked at all the same shops online - no luck here either. Keep us posted on Monsoon dresses.

MI - I've built up scenarios in my head with DH on stuff like this - now I just tell him not to be so grumpy about stuff ie; like his mother would - he seems to take this.

DD2 has an interview for pt work at Starbucks - this could be not a bad thing over the summer.

NUFC69 · 04/05/2017 14:05

Yep, it does, MI. We rethreaded our kitchen blind a couple of years ago: it's really easy, but a bit fiddly. You can get replacement cord from B&Q, if you're interested.

Joins everyone on the overloaded fat bench. I have been out shopping (after the kidney blood test and voting) and came back with a rather nice coral top - with scarf, a black and white striped Jaegar wool tunic (reduced from £150 to £30), and a WoolOvers aubergine cotton knit jumper for DH (£10). There were loads of smart dresses from Hobbs, Fenn Wright Manson, etc., which would have been great if I still worked - all reduced.

No further news from DH in Majorca, I assume he's ok: phone hasn't turned up at Newcastle Airport.

motherinferior · 04/05/2017 14:14

He feels entitled to shout because now he'll have to spend hours replacing it.

Just telling him not to be grumpy doesn't work.

Rosebag · 04/05/2017 14:17

If the cord is broken... it's broken MI. Not your fault Flowers . have to admit I do shout at DH for his clumsiness sometimes but mainly because if he breaks things I hides it from me

I am at the hospital getting my blood work done in advance of the annual ordeal. Joining NU on the pin cushion arm bench. Yes, it's check up time again. Maybe that's why I feel so under the weather. It never gets any easier. Sigh. My morning client postponed and I'm not sorry as I still have to teach tonight.

Will catch up properly later. Sad

motherinferior · 04/05/2017 14:54

No, I broke it. It's that sort of beaded plastic cord that goes round the top in a spool. All our blinds are like that. I pulled it out of the spool, which I keep doing (the kids have done it too - I was so scared this morning I nearly blamed therm.Blush I hate it when he shouts and slams and goes on at me about how I just don't take any responsibility for breaking things).

I have never ever pulled any of the other cords out. Neither have the girls.

MollyMugwump · 04/05/2017 14:57

You shouldn't be scared like that, MI. Not acceptable at all. Not that I can talk, of course; although my dh is better now.

I've just done lady belly dancing. So the lard has been churned.

Lalsy · 04/05/2017 15:14

MI, it doesn't matter what the cord is like or that you can do the other ones IMO. It isn't right that you are scared, or that he reacts like that - you could be the worst cord-puller in the world and it still wouldn't be right. No useful words of wisdom but Flowers.

Well done, Molly.

wordassociationfootball · 04/05/2017 15:25

Rose Flowers Must be absolutely hideous. Thinking of you.

Where's Rudy?

I'm getting me some Gorilla Glue....

I haven't put MUM on anything yet, but I do hide 'my' things round the house. I've got a fab pair of very sharp scissors hidden in my office (which sounds very threatening).

I haven't looked at ANY of the clothing links since Stropps' lovely dress, or I will think I need dresses forgetting that I live in jeans/strides even when it's boiling.

These are a revelation:
green marl The pink is not as pinky. I have the blue the green marl and the pink in xs as they are massive. The (fake) pocket detail is great and the length, hang and neck. I am not norky (or nice) but reccommend you seek them out Crepes. They hang like nice tops and aren't difficult like t-shirts.

80% love 20% fear sounds pretty damn good Herbs. They are fucking lucky to have you and I bet you can do I'm not scared of you dead goodly.

So, we went to the rehab place for Mum's 87th birthday. We put some bunting up in the dining room and the staff came in. They followed 'Happy Birthday' with that infantalising 'How old are you now?' verse. Mum, who is so reduced in so many ways, came back with a third verse, a spirited improvisation on being 87 but keeping going because her big sister is 91 next month and she doesn't want her to win! Think I might email this to the two neuro docs who 2 months ago were saying she wouldn't leave hosp. Good for them to know about outlier oldies Grin

wordassociationfootball · 04/05/2017 15:27

Lalsy - les mots juste:
"you could be the worst cord-puller in the world and it still wouldn't be right"

motherinferior · 04/05/2017 15:31

I feel a bit embarrassed admitting all this now. Thank you.

I'm quite easily squashed, mind. And of course his version would be very different.

Those tops look AMAZING.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2017 15:40

I'm on the wobbly bench too. Feel so tired/stressed/worried most of the time that I just eatBlush

I really shouldn't buy any summer stuff this year as I have loads and when will we ever get to wear it - it feels like November AngrySad

NUFC69 · 04/05/2017 15:54

It's glorious here, BTM for the second day running and I actually changed from my lambswool jumper into a blouse. I am trying to follow the GP's diktat and enjoy some sunshine.

Love the look of the tops; now trying to find out where the nearest store is, but the website isn't playing ball.

Cremolafoam · 04/05/2017 16:21

Lovely feel to those tops Waf. I have the blue one. Of course I have the blue one. All my summer clothes are blue or white. Makes packing easy. Throw it in and it will all match. But BORING!

MI you shouldn't be embarrassed. He should be embarrassed for being a dick. If it was me I'd just go out and buy a new blind. Click it up into place and forget about it. I can't be doing with those simmering ongoing festering wars of attrition. I'm too impatient.Blush (not saying you should do that btw.)

Rose, hope it's all behind you now. Flowers

Can't settle today. Really anxious.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 04/05/2017 16:25

Oh Cremo, what are you anxious about?
