Iconic. Grin

Grin

We never had one so frequented one c'clock clubs far and wide to get access to them, and scoured the countryside when on holiday for them. Those were the days Grin.

MollyMugwump · 03/05/2017 15:58

Yes, we were the same, Lalsy. We never actually owned one. There was a supermarket which had them for a bit, but it was a nightmare doing the shopping while your toddler was driving. We do have a massive plastic digger in the loft, which is dd's, and she will not let it go. She rode it home from the Scouts' jumble sale where it was bought.

wordassociationfootball · 03/05/2017 16:29

LOL at 'rode home from the scout's jumble.

Crem - I'll link to the band later. There was talk of the 5678s! And I saw the Frank Chickens with Billy Bragg in the day!
Runnin' around to find bunting and gee up dd's as we're going to the rehab place for dmum's 87 birthday [shocked]

motherinferior · 03/05/2017 16:45

I am on my way back from a rather good meeting. Still bogged down in job for the client I want to bin.Sad

DD1 and I are going to the Wimmin's Swim later.Grin

magimedi · 03/05/2017 17:04

"I go swimmin', with naked wimmin, I'm Popeye the Sailorman"!

Enjoy your swim - mine was hard work.

Cremolafoam · 03/05/2017 17:12

I am beside myself, as we are getting a freshwater pool about 5 minutes away. Picked up a leaflet in the dr.'s waiting room. chlorine and my skin do not get on. Yay 😊

Lol @MollyMugwump And scout sale bargains. Thats exactly where i used to offload items we no longer needed.
Powerpuff Girls everything and Sylvanian Families campervans and such. Most of that stuff ended up down the cracks in the floorboards ( posted there by ddGrin) that stuff was SO tiny.
Have bought paintstripper and cat litter and some deck mould killer. Am all about the hardware today. Took out the car for the first time since eye-gate. All ok, except permanently on brink of a headache as eyes adjust.
2 further resignations at work ive judt been told about. One , a really good soul, who I liked a lot, has left with no other job to go to. So they clearly pushed her to the limit. Hmm. HmmSad

magimedi · 03/05/2017 17:21

Crem, not all pools use chlorine - I can't remember the name but there is an alternative.

Or are you happy not to swim?

Cremolafoam · 03/05/2017 17:43

No I do swim in seawater MM, but this freshwater pool will be brilliant! All the public pools here use chlorine. So this is very good news that there will now be a an alternative.

Monsoon Dress One

Shrug to go with Dress One

Monsoon Dress Two

Shrug to go with Dress Two

All a bit uninspiring TBH...

I went into posh frock shop in town to see what they had. It was a riot of 'Andrex' Green, black n white and a sea of coral (excuse pun).

They were keen to get me into a Maria Rinaldi lacy frock coat at a mere £495. And thats just the coat Shock

magimedi · 03/05/2017 17:51

So is it indoors & heated, Crem? How do they keep it clean??

Would love a link to it, if it has a website.

Although I moan about swimming, I feel so much better when I swim regularly. My back is better & my general mental state is deffo much better.

I like sea swimming best of all & never moan about that.

magimedi · 03/05/2017 17:54

Like the monsoon dress 2 the best - but know what you mean about uninspiring.

I've been looking for a couple of beach type dresses & can't find anything I like. I don't want to take linen on hols as will have to iron it if I wash it.

I ust want an easy Tshirt material sun dress - without flounces or cut outs.

magimedi · 03/05/2017 17:55

just not ust!

Stropperella · 03/05/2017 18:05

I have www.next.co.uk/g8458s3#423203 which I wore today with a navy blue 3/4 sleeve t underneath and navy opaques and big fat navy flatforms. Which are a more restrained type of clown shoe and therefore suitable for work. Or at least no one has told me off yet. But I am a short arse and therefore the dress is just on the knee on me. Got compliments, and no one pointed at me and laughed. As far as I know. Grin

GiddyGiddyGoat · 03/05/2017 18:07

How about this stripy number MM?

hattymattie · 03/05/2017 18:42

I am unable to see Monsoon links as it flips onto the French site. I like the Next dress Stropps - have scrolled through their occasion wear and it looks significantly improved. I do wish there was more on-the-knee stuff though, old frump that I am.

Giddy - I love Cos but have to go to the shop and try stuff on - there seems to be no relationship between how the clothes look on the models - which is pretty awful and how it actually is; although some of their stuff is quite weird.

In the graduation outfit search - I think I'm going for linen trousers and a nice top plus pashmina. I do not want to wear a flowery dress.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2017 18:57

Love your dress, Stropps. And the second one, Cloud.

DS's blue suede loafers for prom have just arrived to go with his blue suit! We now have to find a (cheap!) shirt that takes cufflinks (do we look for double cuff, or something) and a tie - maybe pink to match the lining of the suitShock

Lalsy · 03/05/2017 19:01

Yeah, Hatty, I am coming to that conclusion, although have yet to brave any actual shops or anything. I would consider a dress, just because I almost never wear them, for the bants as the dc say. But cannot be doing with weird bits missing, or the really long ones that have appeared and which come to my ankles. Like your dress very much Stropps. I ordered a linen one from Next but it had a cut-out across the back revealing...my bra strap! How cunning! And innovative!

I quite like both those dresses, Cloud, but see what you mean.

Magi, I bought a linen sleeveless dress from TK Maxx last year and they have similar again. Very plain, to the knee (on me, so above for your average human). It was very un-smart, didn't seem to crease that much, wore it a lot on the beach (with a fleece Smile).

Herbs, shudder at boy googling girls.

Rosebag · 03/05/2017 19:03

I wore a dress Hatty but it was a plain colour...not flowery!

Cloud really nice dresses but very high in the neck....funnily enough, the dress in the last link (where you were showing the jacket) is lovely but maybe not fitting for the occasion?

MI could the outcome of the good meeting make the annoying client seem just about palatable...?

How's the knee, WAF ? Maybe the mosh pit isn't quite the place for Crepeys any more. Grin

I will come back soon with the Boden links...really I could buy about 10 of their summer dresses...

Have been feeling right off colour today and was scared that I may have to borrow Brian from one of you. Now it's settled into a headache with vague nausea. Spent the afternoon on the settee watching Netflix Blush

Stropperella · 03/05/2017 19:45

Dd had a video interview with the BBC today for an apprenticeship. She messaged me afterwards to say that among other things, she had to come up with a suggestion for a programme for a particular target demographic. Given the deets, I suggested she should have put forward a pitch for a documentary about the nightlife in our local seaside town (she has extensive experience in this area) and call it "Vodka, Drizzle, and Regret."

Sorry you're feeling peaky, Rose. I think there is a weird bug going around, because ds has been complaining of similar symptoms for the last 24 hours, but it's not come to anything. So far.

hattymattie · 03/05/2017 19:58

Lalsy Grin at bra strap comments. I'd actually go for a long dress. I quite like this one but not the price and would have to try. At least I would wear it again.

www.gerarddarel.com/fr_fr/robe-talisman-292455.htm

This one would be a departure for me but it does cover the knees -

www.gerarddarel.com/fr_fr/robe-rimini-292149.html

Stropps apprenticeship with the Beeb sounds brilliant - Grinat your programme suggestion.

Here we have the presidential debat this evening - I think Masterchef is a no goer. I have to go out and get DS later - he has been rehearsing in Grease. He says, it's useless and he's going to get humiliated. The teacher who is in charge told them it was bad and appears to have sat and done nothing for six months. I've said he's just got to try to give it all he's got.

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2017 20:12

Haha I love the pattern/colours on the maxi you'd prefer in a plainer colour!

Hatty I can't see the first dress but I like the second. Your Grease story reminds me of how DS and his best mate used

Stropps, fingers crossed for DD and love your prog suggestion!

bigTillyMint · 03/05/2017 20:13

What happened there?!

DS and his mate used to watch it after school when they were 10 and strut about like John Travolta and his mates!

hattymattie · 03/05/2017 20:19

Weird - the link is showing something other than the dress - maybe that means it's soon to be on sale .

I'm not sure about Boden's colours at the moment - they've gone a bit pastel for me. In fact everybody's gone a bit too pastel for me at the moment.

The debate is already heated and we are only 20 minutes in - the problem is Marine has a louder voice, even if she does spout nonsense.
